Posted: 30 Aug 2018 08:47 PM PDT So I was just playing GTA V on my PS4 and got a message asking if I wanted a modded account, I basically told him to fuck off and then he sends me a photo with my public IP along with those of the other players in the same lobby. Next thing I know my internet is gone and I immediately went to my modem settings and reset the entire system. It took about 10 minutes to restart the system and my internet was back. I have never been DDoSed before and did not think people could actually hack into whatever to access info of other players like this on PS4. So I am pretty sure this prick was behind whatever happened to me, but is there any way to know for sure? And is there any kind of legal action? Should I email Sony about this? [link] [comments]  |

I had a guy come in to look at it, and the cable and router is working on his laptop but not my desktop. He says the only answer is that my Ethernet port went bad, but it was just working right before I moved. Is there anything else I can do to try to see if there's a separate problem? (BTW it says a network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken on the troubleshooter) Update: I entered ping 192.168.1.1 into the command prompt and got PING: transmit failed. | I installed avast and now windows defender displays a weird message Posted: 31 Aug 2018 02:40 AM PDT So I downloaded Avast antivirus and now when I open up Windows defender it gives me this error message: "Your IT administrator has limited access to some areas of this app,and the item you tried to access is not available . Contact IT helpdesk for more information" From what I found online this is because Avast replaces Windows defender in Security and Maintenance (it shows Avast there). Now I have 3 questions.

| Posted: 31 Aug 2018 02:16 AM PDT So, this is how it happened. Two days ago, I was playing Fortnite on my laptop (plugged in). I wanted to take the laptop to the other room. So I didn't shut down and just let the game run on the battery power. As soon as I unplugged the charger cord it was fine for like 10 sec and then it just turned off without any warning. After that I got worried and immediately tried to run it again plugged in. The power button turned on but no display whatsoever. So, I searched on my laptop forums and there I found that its a 'power issue' and I needed to do a hard reset by removing the power cord and holding the power button for 20 sec. This did the trick and everything was working fine. However, after the incident I didn't checked the laptop on battery power. So, after few hours I wanted to take the laptop out and BOOM! as soon as I took the power cord out, it turned off. Now, when i press power button without power cord it just doesn't turns on. During this time, In my windows 10 battery mode settings I had it set at 'Better Battery' and on plugged in I use 'Better Performance'. I bought this laptop in 2016 and haven't used it that much on battery power. Even last week it was giving me around 3 hours on high brightness and chrome use. I know that batteries die eventually but in windows battery report and in the lenovo vantage battery report is says its in 'good condition' (Attached below). There was also no conservation mode on which charges laptop to only 55-60% although I used it some months ago because I use my laptop mostly plugged in. Here's what I tried:

| Consistent solid color crash from all games Posted: 31 Aug 2018 01:06 AM PDT Hey all, I have a problem with my computer as of late. This issue started about 2 weeks ago, but it was isolated, so I didn't bother to research or fix it. The issue was, when playing either Elder Scrolls Online or Space Engineers, after about 1-10 minutes, both screens would either
As I said before, this was an isolated issue. I could get by and just not play either of those games. I could still play Total War Warhammer 2, Rainbow Six Siege, Fortnite, Arma 3 etc. Those were the only two games I played that were affected. Still, the issue bugged me, and I decided to borrow my friends 1060 and test the games out on my computer. It ran fine, no crashes. I also ran a benchmark (Valley Benchmark), and his graphics card passed with flying colors. When I replugged mine in, I got the same crashes. When bench-marked, I got the 1st style crash. I then tried playing games that had previously worked, like Siege. It worked fine for awhile, but then a new crash appeared. The screens would go dead black (like they weren't receiving anything) for about 5 seconds, then recover. The game would invisible, but I can still hear sounds, though it is a repeated sound, not live sounds from the game(confirmed by friend in same match). So, I decided to test some other games. Now, any game seems to have the crash, ranging from games were it is expected, for example Vermintide 2, and games that are very graphically relaxed, such as Tabletop Simulator or Overwatch. It's really frustrating, because no more than 24 hours ago I was playing Overwatch fine, but now it crashes instantly when I start it up. I think it might be a hardware issue, maybe some hardware damage or something, and I further damaged by removing my GPU to test my friend's. I'm 90% sure it's the GPU that is causing the issue, but I'm not the most technically literate. So I come to help from you guys, if you can offer any. Here's a list of stuff I've tried already.
I've done some other things, but they escape me right now. Here's my PC specs (Sorry for the bad formatting, I couldn't figure out how to properly do it):

I can still get into the menu where you select which drives the PC accesses first (the one you get by pressing F2 a lot) and the one you get by pressing F12. Posted: 31 Aug 2018 04:16 AM PDT i have 2 monitors on my computer. i have a gtx 780 and asus z97-a, earlier this summer displayport suddenly stopped working, i have tried swapping cables and tried using vga out. the displayport flickers on 1 monitor and doesnt work at all on the other. same result when i use the mobo output. hdmi works in all cases. the issue occured suddenly without forewarning it has worked for several years prior to this issue. specs win10 latest update asus z97-a asus gtx 780 kingston fury ram 4gb i have tried updating drivers and swapping dp cables several times so im pretty sure its not a cable issue. I can see that I am registered with the China Mobile network on my phone, but data/text/phone calls don't work at all. "Mobile network state" says "disconnected". | I need a hardware recommendation for an ethernet bridge. Posted: 31 Aug 2018 03:44 AM PDT Basically, my setup looks like this, with the red things being the stuff I need. In text form, I want to achieve the following: I have wifi in my house and I would like to have wifi in my garage as well. There is a way to connect the house itself with the garage via ethernet, but I can't get the cable to the router due to the way the house is built. I can only get it close enough to pick up the wifi signal but there is no power where the cable would end. For this, I would say that I need two things, firstly a PoE injector in the garage that would on the one side connect to the devices in the garage and on the other side to the ethernet cable leading to my house. Secondly, I need some kind of access point on the other end of the ethernet cable that gets its power via PoE and connects to the wifi of my router so that it can "supply" the cable with internet. So, my question is, are there any recommendations for this? I found some things from Ubiquiti that would fit the bill, but I just wanted to double check. Thanks for any recommendation! | HELP PLZ...Aptio Setup Utility probs Posted: 31 Aug 2018 03:41 AM PDT My MSI laptop recently started bluescreening alot and then starting going to the Aptio Setup Utility screen everytime i either "Restart" or "Sleep" the computer. When the laptop goes to the Aptio Setup Utility screen, I have to go to the "Boot" tab and then have to change the primary slot to "Hard Disk" from "Network: IP4....." and then have the press the computer on button to restart the computer instead of the "Save and restart" because it goes straight back to that page. My entertainment system isn't directly in front of the window but it's close enough so that a bit of sunlight shines onto it. It's quite sunny today and I noticed the sunlight shining on one side of my PS3. I quickly put my hand on it and noticed it was a bit warm. Now I'm worried that my PS3 could have taken some damage. Unfortunately there's only one place in my living room I can keep my PS3 due to no wall sockets anywhere else. | Weknow.ac browser hijack on OSX Posted: 30 Aug 2018 11:52 PM PDT As title, my chrome on OSX seems to have been hijacked and my default browser is set to weknow.ac and it is proving to be nigh impossible to change it. I managed to get rid of it on my safari browser though and it seems to be working fine. | Need confirmation that my graphics card is dead Posted: 31 Aug 2018 03:32 AM PDT Preface: I've been running my PC build for 2 and a half years, and this is the first major problem I've come across. I was playing a game when suddenly both of my monitors went black and showed 'No signal'. Upon restarting, both monitors still showed 'No signal' Current situation: My PC can't properly boot when my graphics card is installed. When I power it on, either my monitors will show 'No signal' the entire time, or it might load up the desktop for a few seconds before both monitors cut to 'No signal'. This happens even after uninstalling drivers, or with old drivers. When I take my graphics card out, everything runs fine. Note that my graphics card's fan has been making a rattling noise for the past few months, I tried cleaning it which didn't fix the problem, but I was planning to buy a new graphics card at the end of the year when Nvidia Volta released anyway I highly suspect that my graphics card has run its course but I just want to make sure Specs (just a few since my build ran fine for over 2 years): Graphics card - Asus GTX 970 4GB STRIX Motherboard - Asus Z170-AR ATX LGA1151 Power supply - Corsair CSM 650W 80+ Gold [link] [comments]  |

I was able to sign in after the screen froze for a half a minute. Then on the desktop/home screen there were very few green pixels scattered around the screen and I thought it was better. Then I clicked the windows button and the whole screen blacked out and I eventually switched it off. Two days later nothing is better. I ran a norton scan right before the last time I turned it off and everything was fine. I also ran a diagnostic test at the blue HP start screen when the PC is loading up.
