100% disk usage windows 8.1 and 10 Posted: 29 Aug 2018 03:33 PM PDT Hello , I've tried all the fixes possible , I've reinstalled windows 10 then windows 8 , I formatted everything before reinstalling , I put the pc on high performance , I disabled windows services , I did everything I found on the internet and I still get 100% disk usage when I try to play any game except for really small games , this only started happening 1 month ago , my pc is pretty new so I doubt it's my harddrive problem since I didn't do anything that could damage it so badly , I will leave the error logs here , maybe those can help [link] [comments]
Ever got annoyed with the frowny face in Windows 8 blue screens? Posted: 29 Aug 2018 05:16 AM PDT Go to HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\CrashControl and add this value (DWORD): DisableEmoticon = 1 Reboot and now when your system encounters a STOP error, there will be no frowny face. While you're in CrashControl, add DisplayParameters (also a DWORD value) and change that to 1. Reboot and when your system blue screens, it'll show the 4 parameters that the stop code emitted so you can debug the problem. [link] [comments]
"Some settings are managed by your organization" on Windows 10 home Posted: 29 Aug 2018 07:53 AM PDT Need to know how to disable this feature from Windows 10 home edition. Update: Found a comment in the bottom of a thread that helped me solve this issue: 1 first Win + R, 2 - run regedit, 3- Go to: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\AppPrivacy 4- Delete the value related to your problem. Is like reseting it. [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Aug 2018 06:02 PM PDT Hey guys I have a window 7 laptop that I haven't used in a long time. I was planning on giving it to someone as a gift but I needed to backup important files and clear the data. Unfortunately when I turned the laptop on it goes in to boot but doesn't finish it. And keeps on going. I tried to do a diagnostics on it and it shows up that I have a short dst. I already have tried to get into the recovery menu but it doesn't work either it loads but gets stuck on the gray screen. If u guys know how to fix the problem lemme know cuz that would be real helpful. [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Aug 2018 12:29 PM PDT Recently my computer has been starting up with programs still running like I put it in hibernation mode. I was thinking it was the fast start up option, but this has never happened before until maybe a couple days to a week ago. I've checked if I have these programs turned on for startup but thats not it either. Just weird coming home from work turning on my PC, walking away and having half an episode on Netflix playing before I even put in my password to login. I got windows 10. [link] [comments]

Media Center, NetFx, and tablet pc. In tablet pc, well in all of them, is a i386folder. We're do I put this if I can't add it to the first cd? I saw someone say to c:\ but that hasn't done anything even after scannow sfc [link] [comments]
Looking for a tiled windows management tool with some specific features. Posted: 29 Aug 2018 08:38 AM PDT I really like - Aquasnap: https://www.nurgo-software.com/products/aquasnap Groupy: https://www.stardock.com/products/groupy/ Tidytabs: https://www.nurgo-software.com/products/tidytabs But I'm looking for something that kind of mixes the features of all these together. Ideally, I'd like to be able to make tabs like you can with tidytabs/groupy, but within those tabs, allow the windows to be tiled to different sizes (a la aquasnap). So basically, it would go like this - I have excel and chrome open. They would be sorted under one "grouping" on the taskbar. If I click on the "grouping", it would maximize excel on the right, and chrome on the left. But whenever I click on the grouping on the taskbar, both programs move together. Not sure if anyone gets what I'm saying, but...hopefully someone does [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Aug 2018 03:58 PM PDT i just got back from vacation today, and voted up my computer for the first time since last saturday and not even 30 minutes later it closed out of my game and went into a blue screen and gave me the aforementioned error. i've seen other people say to try and run a memory diagnostic, but my computer won't display onto my monitor, it'll boot up and the fans will start running but it won't output to my monitor. Delaying the power button from turning off computer? Posted: 29 Aug 2018 12:03 PM PDT Is there a setting somewhere that can delay when the computer responds to when the power button gets pressed? I keep accidentally hitting the button while working and I lose some work sometimes. [link] [comments]

At what point does windows force update? Posted: 29 Aug 2018 02:06 AM PDT I've heard many people have this problem, but personally I've never had it. On the contrary, I've had problems trying to update my computer! Whether it be via media creation tool, from settings, from an ISO, there's always something going wrong recently (granted I'm usually a very early adopter). So given that I'll probably never experience it, at what point does windows force update? Is it just a random bug? Does it do that if you don't update for x amount of time? Thanks and please be civil. Spare my Microsoftie heart :( [link] [comments]

Upgrade to Windows 10 and keep programs? Posted: 29 Aug 2018 05:51 AM PDT I want to upgrade my PC from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, so I downloaded the Setup Tool and selected „Keep personal files and Apps", but I'm not sure, if this will only keep the Apps from the Windows Store, or the third-party programs as well. I really dont want to lose all my programs... [link] [comments]
Windows 7 Resolution/Quality Changes Posted: 29 Aug 2018 08:22 AM PDT I'm running windows 7, and when I go on to certain programs or websites, the quality of the picture changes and becomes a little more blurry. This will change back when I go back to my initial program. Very confused why it's doing this. Any ideas what could be causing this? [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Aug 2018 02:11 PM PDT Hello! I have a question regarding security. I was helping an online friend configure a program through chat and to explain the procedure better, I copy pasted a path from my machine and sent him the path through the chat. e.g. "C:\Users\[UserName]\Desktop\Untitled.doc" I had not redacted my user name from the path. He told me that I shouldn't do that, since I could get hacked. My question is this: Could someone really hack into my machine remotely just by knowing my Windows Username and Drive Letter? Windows Games Explorer Equivalent Posted: 29 Aug 2018 01:36 PM PDT As Games Explorer has now been removed from Windows 10, I was wondering if there is an alternative which I can download which can find and organise all the games you have installed? [link] [comments]
Windows reset Word Document to earlier Version Posted: 29 Aug 2018 08:00 AM PDT I need help after Windows reset a Word document to an earlier Version after updating Word. So I basically am writing a term paper and therefore leave my Word documents open throughout several days. I wanted to open a new Word document and got the notification that ther is an update available for Office and I would have to close all open documents. Of course I saved them all before doing that and the important one is actually also uploaded onto dropbox. Now after the update was complete I wanted to reopen my documents. But as I look at its content I see that it is far less than I had written by now. As I check the save date of the document I see that it states the last I saved was one week ago. Is there a way to retrieve my file from before the update? Thanks in advance for the help. [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Aug 2018 05:42 AM PDT Hey. I've been thinking about buying a ThinkPad W530. The thing is, W series has Quadro cards installed and I've seen some complaints about driver support. How does the situation look right now? W530 can be equipped with either K2000M or K1000M, so I'm interested in how well these cards are supported. [link] [comments]

Forcing a window to open on the main monitor. Posted: 29 Aug 2018 06:54 AM PDT Having an unusual issue..... In the office we are using dual monitors, connecting to our servers thru AD. When one of our users is working from home (VMWare virtualization using Windows 7) and using the single laptop display, we have a program that, if last opened on the second monitor, continues to open on the now non-existent second monitor. I am aware of the tricks to make a window switch screens (windows key - shift - arrow, cascade windows, move, etc), but that does not work with this particular application on the VMWare session. Using a display manager is not an option. Is there anything built into Windows that would let me specify what screen an application opens on? My Google searches keep returning the fixes already mentioned that will not work for us. [link] [comments] |
