Simple budget tracking app? Android Apps

Simple budget tracking app? Android Apps

    Simple budget tracking app?

    Posted: 27 Jul 2018 02:30 AM PDT

Like, I put the amount of money I currently have, and I can note the expenses, see the remaining money left, and how much I've spend.

Don't need for something too feature rich or too fancy as this is just for some short term travel.

Bonus if I can export the report to a text file or excel spreadsheet.

[DEV] Announcing All Clear 1.0! I hate all the top weather apps so I made a new kind of experience. Large graphics & animations, clear text, and multiple unique weather app feaures. What do you think?

    Posted: 27 Jul 2018 09:43 AM PDT

Here is All Clear on the Play Store

This focus of this app is on clear weather communication. Some neat features:

    • If the current conditions are wrong, you can fix it! Change the weather in the app to be right, and you'll help other's nearby get the right data too.

    • This means that you also get more accurate weather info (as long as users nearby also contribute)

    • Sky pictures! I want to write a machine learning classification system that would take any outdoor photo and automatically tag weather info in it. I'm starting with a feature in this app to let you upload photos of the sky with tags, and see others' photos.

    • Environmental sensor data: Another optional feature is that the app can periodically collect sensor data, like barometer, hygrometer, thermometer, and light sensor data from your device. When this is processed it could produce useful weather data as well. Sensor code is open source: https://github.com/JacobSheehy/AllClearSensorLibrary

    • In the hourly forecast, you can tap an hour marker to 'watch' that hour. All Clear will then keep track of the forecast for that hour and let you see any changes to it.

I made this because I was really frustrated at the top weather apps in the Play Store. If you check out most of the top 10 free weather apps in the US, they are basically all identical (and bad, in my opinion).

The app is US-only for now. I tried to buy international weather data from IBM/Weather Channel, but got shafted and told the prices would increase 10x, and I'll have to spend time looking elsewhere and pick another source before launching internationally. Sorry for the US only launch!

Okay that's probably it. Here's the link again: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.allclearweather.android

What do you think? Thanks for any feedback!!

Tinfoil for Facebook removed from the Google Play store??

Anyone know what happened to the Tinfoil for Facebook app? I just got a new Amazon Prime Moto phone and wanted to install it but Google Play says URL Not found.

Can you download headlines in Google News?

    Posted: 27 Jul 2018 08:35 AM PDT

In Google Play Newsstand there was an option to automatically download the "for you" collection and to download the latest headlines for offline reading. I for the life of me can't figure out how to do it in the new app. All I see available to download are the individual sources I subscribe to

What are some apps that are worth the price?

    Posted: 27 Jul 2018 07:09 AM PDT

I'm looking for some paid apps that you can proudly admit you paid for.

Guess mine would be Equify and Round Corners.

    What are yours?

Silent/Vibration Alarm app recommendations? (Free and paid suggestions welcome)

    Posted: 27 Jul 2018 07:59 AM PDT

    Hi Everyone,

My current circumstances means that I'll have to share a room sleeping with my parents. This is inconvenient because I'm a lucid dreamer and I can't wake myself in the middle of the night to do my routines without an alarm. I'm a deep sleeper however so I'm gonna need apps with the most powerful vibration strength. (though if available,I'd certainly like the ones where you can adjust vibration settings/strength,but I'll accept those even without that option)

[DEV] TCG Hub - A new Pokemon TCG collection app

    Posted: 27 Jul 2018 11:52 AM PDT

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jacobgreenland.tcghub_pokemon

TCG Hub is my new app based around being able to store your Pokemon card collection all in one easy-to-use app.

    • You can quickly explore any card set since the very first release, and easily add them to your collection.
    • Wishlist cards you want to obtain in the future.
    • Earn medals for sets you complete.
    • View statistics of your collection.

I've got lots of plans for future developments like adding card prices, deck building and scanning in cards to your collection with your camera. These will be developed when my work schedule allows, but for now its a lightweight solution to store your card collection on!

As this is just a side project, I plan on keeping it entirely free from adverts and paywalls.

Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks for reading!

Does an email app exist with separate sections for starred and inbox?

    Posted: 27 Jul 2018 07:59 AM PDT

Like on Gmail website, theres a way to have all starred emails in a separate section above the inbox, in a handy little collapsible drop down. I put all my important client emails there so I see them immediately, then the inbox is just underneath this section, sorted by newest.

The gmail app puts this all in the side panel, where I have to swit h back and forth between them. I forget this all the time and after years still haven't got used to it. I can't seem to see any android app that does things similar to the website, I can't even sort so the starred emails show above the unread.

Can anyone recommend anything to do?

Do you monitor your consumables ?

    Posted: 27 Jul 2018 05:10 AM PDT

This question relates to consumables like electrical energy, water, gas, etc. which are used in a house or in an apartment.

I have initially recorded my consumable counters in an Excel spreadsheet, but after a few years I have shifted that to an Android app.

I am curious to know if you are also monitoring your consumption during the year or if you are just checking your bills from the corresponding supplier at the end of each billing period.

If you are recording/checking your consumable counters, then how are you doing that ?

Your feedback will be highly appreciated.

Zoom to Fill Youtube Screen on 4:3 Tablets?

    Posted: 27 Jul 2018 06:16 AM PDT

I prefer watching Youtube videos on my Tab S3...but I admit it annoys me having the huge black bars at the top and bottom of the screen. Is there any Youtube client available that allows you, on a device like this, to zoom to fill the screen. Someone told me about Youtube Vanced, and I installed it....and it still does not zoom to fit.

    App as a knowledgebase

    Posted: 27 Jul 2018 03:27 AM PDT

IT Support here. Need an app that allows one to easily search and link to data (text\picture form) from one place to another - sort of like if I need to know where a server is and what server it is, I can just lookup it in the app by searching for it.

Currently using several folders in Google Drive.

What are some good spotify alternatives?

    Posted: 27 Jul 2018 12:12 PM PDT

Hello everyone, I'm new to this sub so this might be overposted, but what are some good (free or freemium) spotify alternatives? Spotify takes up almost 2GB on my phone for some reason so I've decided to delete it.

I've tried Soundcloud, but it's only good for rap and newer songs, most old songs are covers. I also don't like downloading my music, since I'm short on space.

Data and ads aren't a problem, as long as there are less ads than Spotify and none of those personalised ads that take up like 1/6 of the bottom of your screen (the ones that are on all shitty free apps)

Nova Launcher and Swiftkey with newer phones?

    Posted: 27 Jul 2018 11:49 AM PDT

I purchased Nova Launcher Prime and Swiftkey a long time ago for my HTC One when the default keyboard and launcher were total crap. It seemed to speed up my phone even, and made it way easier to use.

On my S7, I still have SwiftKey, and I used Nova Launcher for a bit, but it gave me a little bit more battery drain, and I couldn't stop going back to the new TouchWiz. It was just so clean and fast!

I'm about to upgrade to a Pixel 2, and I was just curious, is there a point in things like Nova and Swiftkey when the Pixel already comes with Gboard and a clean fast launcher? I love that Android is customizable, but now that the phones are much better out of the box, how many people still consider these necessities?

Maps app that can track route and can create custom route and save it afterwards?

    Posted: 27 Jul 2018 09:43 AM PDT

I've been using Maps and never been disappointed. But actually I feel like there's a missing feature in the app, which is tracking route (I know some people will object this for what they call "breach of privacy", but I don't mind as long as I can control what to be tracked) & creating a custom route.

These features would be very helpful for me because sometimes Maps' recommended routes aren't actually recommended. I live in country with very severe traffic jam and Maps always give me the "mainstream" routes which obviously has the most traffic, whilst actually there are shortcut routes that Maps won't show because whatever reason (ie. the route is longer, the street is small, etc).

So, if anyone knows a map app that has these features please let me know.

An app similar to Pushbullet/Join/Airdroid privacy focus and good design

    Posted: 26 Jul 2018 01:55 PM PDT

I know you are going to ask me why not any of the listed in the title, well, right now I use Pushbullet, its great, but the last update was like 11 months ago, no tweets since 2016, I'm not asking for new stuff, just something, design updates, some tweet, I don't know, make something to not look like a ghost company, they are a team based on San Francisco (expensive place) and I'm not sure they are making money out of the pro plan. Weird. Not the kind of app you would trust.

Join, in my opinion, bite off more than it can chew, and everything in a super 'default' effortless material design look, not the good stuff.

And Airdroid well, I read the "privacy politics" and freak out. If you use it, delete your account now.
