Computer Techs So Now What... |
| Posted: 27 Jul 2018 12:24 PM PDT 10 years ago I started a computer service company. Initially a lot of the work was home stuff. Over time I transitioned to about 80% small business. Employees seem to suck. The crappy ones I fire for repeatedly doing stupid things, the good ones leave town after I train them for a year. Should I shit can the unproductive customers and focus on the good ones and charge more to make up the difference. Piviot to retail and try to arrange it so I can sit on my ass all day in a shop and actually get something done. Kidnap a couple kids in Mexico, bring them back and train them properly as technicians and keep them chained up so they can't escape? Take a position with any one of a number of startups in a non computer related field and probably make more money and pretend like I am listening to the boss. I like Linux, been doing it for 20 years and it actually works. Wouldn't feel bad if I never saw a windows computer again. Not much into programming any more as my patience is not what it used to be. It seems like more and more it's just defective Chinese crap, evil vendors, fucked up ISP's, licensing issues, defective software, endless windows updates and a never ending stream of non-related bullshit instead of actually doing productive work. Would it be better in a different country? Iceland? Is life better under the Pirate Party? An Island run by Pirates seems like it would be a step up.
