[US] $1,200 Budget and 13 inch to 15 inch screen

    Posted: 30 May 2018 11:48 PM PDT

    • Total budget and country of purchase: My budget is $1,200 USD and I am in the U.S.

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.

I honestly do not mind if it is a 2 in 1 or not, but I do prefer a good battery life as I will be using this for my classes. I would also like some fairly strong specs, but I understand that my budget won't allow for top of the line specs. I just want to make sure that the laptop won't freeze and can display a glare-free and bright display. Preferably over 1080p.

    • How important is weight and thinness to you?

I want it to be lightweight as I will be carrying it around campus all day long and it needs to be reasonably thin so that it can fit in my backpack and won't get stares for size in the classroom.

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.

Windows OS, but I want a laptop that will let me use Chrome as a browser and Microsoft Word. Sounds strange, but I know that a Surface would not let me use Chrome and a Chromebook would not let me use MS Word.

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

    13 inches to 15 inches

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

I may be using Adobe After Effects in the near future.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

I want to play Cuphead mostly and I want it to run smoothly and look great. Besides that, I don't have any other games I want to play.

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

I want a keyboard that is backlit and quiet. I want reliable build quality as well. I do not care for touchscreens, but would not mind one either. I do want a laptop that can take USB 3.0 but if I need to use a dongle to get everything else that i'm looking for, i'm fine with that.

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

The USB 3.0 is mainly to use a USB DAC and to charge my phone. But as I said, if everything else can be met, I am okay with using a dongle for a USB. I just want something discrete and reliable. I also want a good hard drive as I am going to have a lot of music downloaded and pictures/videos uploaded. Thank you in advance!

Edit: I just want to say thanks to everyone who recommended something. However, I've decided to go with the Huawei Matebook X Pro.

Question on buying additional hard drive for laptop

    Posted: 31 May 2018 01:33 AM PDT

Hi guys, Bough my Eluktronics P670HP6 17 laptop close to a year ago thanks to this sub and has worked fantastic. My question is I want to add an additional hard drive for more storage but am sort of a noob with laptop parts.

My laptop came with 250 ssd and 1tb hdd. Does this laptop have room for one more additional drive and is it a 7mm drive I should be looking for?

Link to my computer on amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NBUWWWD/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Link to hard drive I'm hoping will work? https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-BarraCuda-2-5-Inch-Internal-ST1000LM048/dp/B01LYNQXCP/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1527755562&sr=8-3&keywords=7mm+hard+drive

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Video Game Programming Student Laptop

    Posted: 31 May 2018 01:16 AM PDT

I'm going into college and my parents have offered to buy me a laptop for <$1000 as a graduation gift. I'm willing to subsidize this if there's a laptop that perfectly fits what I'm looking for, but not more than another $200. I'm using this as a computer science student, and I'm going to use it for programming and game design. Normally, a cs student could use any kind of laptop comfortable, but as a video game programmer, I'll need a dedicated graphics card, plenty of ram and cpu, pretty much the same requirements as a playing games would have. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

My requirements based on searching what's out there:
256GB SSD (+1TB HDD preferred, or at least a slot for one)
    GTX 1050Ti or 1060
    Bluetooth
    7700HQ
    16GB memory

The laptops I've found that match my criteria:
    Acer Aspire V Nitro $881.05
    Acer Predator Helios 300 $998.75
    Lenovo Legion Y520 $974.95
    Acer NH.Q2QAA.008 Nitro 5 $819.00

I could probably choose one of these, but I always double check with this community because you guys are full of insight. Thanks for reading all this. Any suggestions or feedback are welcome. I'm looking for links to laptop suggestions in particular. Thanks again.

Lenovo 720s 14 vs hp envy 13, or something else? ultrabook for 1200$ in Poland

    Posted: 31 May 2018 03:44 AM PDT

    • Total budget and country of purchase: 4500zÅ‚ (1200$) in Poland

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. I'd love small, lightweight ultrabook made of metal. No need of 2 in 1 nor touchscreen.

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? It's very important since I'll carry this laptop to my college

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows 10, can be without

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 13"-14"

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. A little bit of CAD, photo editing (DxO Optics), programming (jetbrains IDEs), and light gaming like league of legends or fortnite.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? League of legends and fortnite at FHD with low settings at stable 60fps

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? good build quality

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I read a lot of reviews and posts on reddit and these two seems to fit my needs pretty well: HP ENVY 13 i7-8550u 16GB 512SSD MX150 4K TOUCH W10 (refurbished) Lenovo Ideapad 720s-14 i5-8250U/16GB/256/Win10 MX150 I love everything about this envy except the fact that according to many reviews is unable to play games comfortably because of throttling issues. When I was looking for another ultrabook with similar specs that doesn't throttle i found the Lenovo. According to reviews i read it doesn't throttle at all but on the other hand is slower out of the box. Maybe they fixed that since the release with bios update? Or maybe there is another ultrabook that I missed that is worth considering?

    USA $600-700 Acer Vs Dell

    Posted: 30 May 2018 11:49 PM PDT

    • Total budget and country of purchase:

    $600-700 USA

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.

I'm not really sure what this means. Battery life is nice but for the most part I keep my charger close by.

    • How important is weight and thinness to you?

The lighter the better I suppose as long as its not unreasonable delicate. My current laptop's (acer i5-3337U @1.8ghz 6gb ram nvidia 720m) screen was damaged in my backpack. Lesson learned.

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.

    Windows

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

My current is 17" but Id be willing to go down to 15.6"

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

Ill use the computer for powerpoint/word processing and games. Being able to play Fallout 4+, Witcher 3, Pubg, Dota 2, Day of infamy, etc. would be nice.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

I've gotten used to low settings, as long as it's playable that's fine but obviously the higher the better.

    • Any specific requirements such as a good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

Relative to the price a nice keyboard and good build quality. My current laptop runs very hot and is very loud. Id like to avoid this in the future.

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

I don't know a whole lot about computers but Ive been thinking about either the Acer Aspire Nitro 5 AN515-51 or Dell Gaming G3 15 3579.

Edit: Oh crap I didnt include screen size in the title...sorry.

[Serbia] or [HU] Laptop for max 1200EUR - Android dev

    Posted: 31 May 2018 03:34 AM PDT

    • Total budget and country of purchase: I'm buying in Serbia, it may be used laptop. Also, I can go to Hungary to buy if it has better range of laptops for better price up to 1200 EUR

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. 2 in 1 is good to have, but not must. Battery is important

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? It is important but I'll choose perfomance and ports over that

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. I preffer windows

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 13/14

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Most of the day I'm using Android studio with one monitor atached to laptop. So, dedicated graphic card is not needed.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? I don't play games

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? I prefer a good touchpad, good build quality, not something plastic that bend on edges... no need for optical drive

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. So in conclusion I want something for working on big Android projects at home and in cafes/outdor with at least 16gb of ram and 256gb ssd. Not sure what to choose when I have to made decision between 8 gen i5 and 6 or 7gen i7. How much it makes difference? I would like to hear some advice from Android guy, what laptop are you using?

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

      • nothing too small.

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

      • don"t really need a gaming laptop. the only game i'd consider to play on it is something like the sims maybe.

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

      • needs nice graphics, and needs really good storage because i end up saving a lot of drafts and final pieces of my artwork and documents. would like decent speakers too. if possible, all ports, but it's not a deal breaker.

[USA] Looking for a large screened laptop that can handle heavy gaming

    Posted: 30 May 2018 03:49 PM PDT

    • Total budget and country of purchase:

Willing to spend up to 1600 at most if it's a great deal, but would like to keep it under 1300 otherwise

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.

Specs are most important, battery is secondary.

    • How important is weight and thinness to you?

Not at all. It could be 3 inches thick and weigh 15 lbs as long as it's strong

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.

Windows but I can procure my own iso and key

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

    17 inches or more please

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

I'll be playing anything under the sun, but mostly overwatch.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

High settings at 60 fps for most games. Looking for 1060 6GB power or more

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

A nice built in keyboard would be nice but a low concern on requirements.
More USB 3 ports would be nice too

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

Storage should either have 500+ GB SSD or have slots to upgrade storage

Need a cost-efficient laptop in Canada

    Posted: 30 May 2018 05:45 PM PDT

I'm looking for something <$600 that can basically be used to run Office and Securexam very quickly. I will be writing exams using Securexam and my current laptop runs slowly in that program. I assume I need to prioritize the processor and RAM?

Amazon.ca is crap for laptop prices. Can anyone suggest a good retailer for refurbished laptops? Or is a new laptop in my price range?

    Regarding 7th gen and 8th gen i5s

    Posted: 30 May 2018 02:26 PM PDT

Looking to buy a college laptop with some mid range gaming on the side.

I've settled on the Acer Swift 3 (Mx150) but I have a choice between a 7th or 8th gen i5. Will it make a huge difference for gaming, college and just generally? Or am I better off saving the €100 and getting last gen. My work doesn't involve programming or anything intensive just gaming.

The pros of 8th gen I can think of are: Futureproof More processing power 4 cores (big difference?) Battery life (?)

Cons: More expensive: €730 as opposed to €600

Any input would be great, thanks guys

    Macbook or naw?

    Posted: 30 May 2018 09:56 PM PDT

Made a post previously, my wonderful Zenbook was stolen. it was my main laptop for university. tbh mostly used for video streaming, writing papers, and i loved it for its portability. I am now leaning toward purchasing a refurbished Macbook. My options so far:

    find refurbs on microcenter, newegg

    - Craigslist:

    2017 Macbook Pro for 850

    2015 Macbook Air 8GB for 595

    OR

my roomate is offering to sell his 2011 Macbook air 13inch for $200. It seems to run all good, but the cosmetic damages(bent corners, dings, blemishes; not destroyed but it isnt pretty when taking out of a bag).

I can get the cheap macbook 2011 for the time being(need a laptop for work which starts soon) while i save bread during summer to buy a macbook for my last year of school OR just shell out cash for a more recent macbook(TAX RETURN FTW)

    Thanks!

    Thoughts on Lenovo's Ideapad 720S-15IKB FHD 7300HQ 1050TI?

    Posted: 30 May 2018 06:04 PM PDT

Hi! Im thinking of getting Lenovo's Ideapad 170S (15') as it seems to be pretty bang for buck. However I am concerned about the screen backlit display and the GPU throttling due to the weak charger. What do you guys think of the laptop, especially the display? And do you have any similarly spec-ed 15.6' laptops to recommend?

    Thanks! :)

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Good battery life

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? Weight is moderately important, thinness is not important at all

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 14" or larger

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. No, I mainly just use Excel and Word.

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? I like the high quality keyboards found on Lenovos. Backlit keyboard would be nice. Do not want / care about touchscreen, finger-print reader, etc.

[USA] Roughly $1500, laptop for programming & light gaming

    Posted: 30 May 2018 10:20 AM PDT

    • Total budget and country of purchase: Roughly $1500, could go a bit higher. USA

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Both battery and a good CPU.

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? Not as important as battery life and performance.

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows, but I can install myself.

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 15.6 is nice, but it's of no specific importance.

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Potentially some light video editing via Premiere, but could offload that. Being able to compile fast would be neat as well. Most likely I'll want to play some games on it, ranging from Dead By Daylight to Guild Wars 2. Other than that, mostly CPU rather than GPU intensive games.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? No specific games, but medium settings with 60 would be great.

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? A battery with 6+ hours of life would be good, I could potentially buy a replacement battery to switch out. Also, a CPU clocked around 3GHz (2.8 is fine) is my target. TurboBoost that clocks it up to there would be good as well.

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I've looked around, and I've found the Eluktronics Pro-X P650HS-G + the Eluktronics MECH-15 and the Clevo N850EP6 to be very good, but lacking in battery life.

UPDATE Purchased an Acer Swift 3 but was not satisfied. Still looking for recomendations

    Posted: 30 May 2018 03:35 PM PDT

Below is my original post from about two months ago. I bought an Acer Swift 3 due to multiple people recommending it but did not like it. I found it to be slower than what I liked, and it had problems playing Age of Empires 2 as well of Out of the Park Baseball '18 (both Steam games). I can increase my budget to <$1250, but I would like something that runs with a bit more power. I'm not good with computer lingo so not exactly sure specifically what I would like to be better (maybe the graphics card?). But everything else is pretty much the same. I'm not a HUGE gamer by any stretch, but I would like something that runs well with games and I guess has the option of playing higher graphic games as well. I'm not necessarily looking for a gaming laptop but can settle for one if it best suits by needs. Thanks for any help.

    • Total budget and country of purchase: Can go as high as $1000, don't mind spending a bit more. USA
    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Specs would be my #1 priority, followed by a good battery
    • How important is weight and thinness to you? Not important
    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Prefer Windows, but not 100% set in stone
    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. Prefer smaller - medium. Don't want a large screen
    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. I game but nothing crazy. Age of Empires II is the game I currently play and may buy the new one coming out, which I don't believe is anything crazy on a laptop. I have some more games on Steam that I play but Xbox is my main console so can stay away from computer gaming
    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? As stated above, currently Age of Empires II HD is the game of choice right now. I'd consider it light gaming
    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Don't care for touch-screen
    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I looked through the top 2018 post (top post all time) and found Acer Predator Helios 300. I know almost nothing about computers so don't think I necessarily need a gaming laptop. I'm ok with "general use" laptops but just don't know where to begin. I currently have a Inspiron 5548 and have not been happy with its performance (4 years). Looking to upgrade on this laptop

A Slightly Cheaper Laptop with good CPU as well as being capable of very light gaming

    Posted: 30 May 2018 07:18 PM PDT

Total budget and country of purchase** Hopefully keeping in the 500-600 dollar range. United States. However if you can fit the constraints and go cheaper, you're awesome. If you have to go higher, you're still awesome, I just probably won't consider it

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Best specs for the money. I don't care about 2 in 1 form or battery life.

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? Not important. As long as it's somewhere between 13-15.6 inches for screen size

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows OS only

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 13-15.6 inches

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Infrequent gaming on low settings Fortnite, CSGO, league of legends are all I'm concerned with. Other than that the Laptop needs to have a heavier processor in order to do large excel spreadsheets and other business software calculation

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Lowest settings at 50ish FPS. If it's playable that's all I want (Really guys. I don't care if it looks good. As long as I can play)

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? A good processor and the best graphics card I can get for the price point

TL;DR need a laptop for business applications and very light gaming. Medium screen size, good CPU, and a good enough graphics card for light gaming. Important note: I do not need an SSD, I have a fairly nice Samsung 1 TB from another laptop I can utilize so that is not a concern.

    Going into Engineering for College

    Posted: 30 May 2018 07:16 PM PDT

    • Total budget and country of purchase: Preferably bellow 1200

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. 2 in 1 doesn't seem necessary, but I wouldn't mind. Ideally, a good battery would be essential for my time in College. But I do leave my current laptop charging a lot everywhere I go.

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? I need portability, I am not sure what that means in terms of weight or thinness but it will be used extensively in college. I will carry this all around I go.

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 15.6 I guess? Again, looking for portability.

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. I have heard that I will be using programs such as LabVIEW and/or Matlab. I've also heard that my college is throwing away some of its programs. Nevertheless, I will be using programming software and be playing video games.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? I play a bunch of games. Such as PUBG, Rainbow Six, and a couple more demanding games that I am willing to sacrifice beauty for a good laptop. If I can, I'd like High settings with 60 FPS but it doesn't seem like this is a perfect world so I can compromise with Medium settings at 60 FPS if it must be so.

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Maybe optical drive?

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I don't exactly want a gaming laptop that 'looks' like a gaming laptop if that makes any sense. I'd like for it to look more conventional but not plain.

    Microsoft Surface?

    Posted: 30 May 2018 06:44 PM PDT

Looking for a latop mainly for web surfing. I'd like to start doing more photo editing (using Lightroom/Photoshop) and I've been wanting to try some PC games. Never been into them before but there's a new pirate one out that I know I'll get hooked on if I start.

So I'd like something pretty fast with good resolution.

I'm overwhelmed on my choices. I like the look of the Microsoft surface pro. But maybe I'm getting caught up in the gimmick...

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Good input devices.

I’m extremely interested in the new MSI GS65-054 (includes GTX 1070 Max-Q), with its sexy black and gold trim. Change my mind!

    Posted: 30 May 2018 06:18 PM PDT

    • Total budget and country of purchase: Up to ~$2300, USA

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Best specs for the money

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? Thinness is fairly important, but weight is not important to me.

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. At least 15"

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Gaming and programming. For programming, I'll at least be using Visual Studio during my software development course.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Latest titles at high settings in order to future-proof the laptop and make its gaming capabilities last several years.

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? I would love per-key RGB lighting, but i would sacrifice it for a major performance boost at the same price. A good keyboard is also important, since I'll be typing a lot.

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. Like I said in the title, I've been considering the MSI GS65-054 (with the GTX 1070 Max-Q). It's just so damn sexy! But if there is another laptop within the same price range that isn't a total brick and vastly exceeds the GS65's performance, change my mind!

Media Creator Needs Mobile Solution Under $2500

    Posted: 30 May 2018 05:33 PM PDT

Hello! It has been a long time since I went PC shopping, but I've determined I need a laptop now, not a desktop. with that in mind, here is my form.

    * **Total budget and country of purchase:**

    $2500 USA

    * **Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.**

Best specs for the money, no contest

    * **How important is weight and thinness to you?**

    Not worth sacrificing power.

    * **Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.**

    Windows

    * **Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.**

Prefer the 15.6 size, but not super important as it will often be connected to my 4K monitor

    * **Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.**

4K video editing/36mp+ photo editing, occasional gaming. Apps used: Adobe Creative cloud (the whole thing) Games: Borderlands, Tomb Raider 2013 and Rise, Life is Strange, Portal

    * **If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?** -

Best settings possible, without sacrificing the media production side

    * **Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?**

Quality touchpad, and good build quality, as I intend to use for tethered capture

    * **Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.**

Replacing a custom-built desktop with a laptop is a huge thing for me. I have not owned a laptop in about 15 years, but it seems to be the best move for power and portability.

    Thanks for your help!
