Curious about battery life on S9+

    Posted: 13 Apr 2018 09:25 PM PDT

I'm thinking of switching from my current Huawei Mate 10 Pro to the Galaxy S9+, but I'm worried about battery life, which is a big deal for me. My current phone easily gets 7 hours of screen-on time daily. What kind of screen-on time are you getting on your S9+?

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 - Can't connect it to my PC

    Posted: 14 Apr 2018 01:47 AM PDT

So I've had a Tab 2 10.1 since probably 2013 and I've never been able to get it to connect to my PC. I'd like to get my pictures off it, and put some movies onto it, but whenever I connect the USB to my PC it keeps dinging the connection/disconnection sound constantly. Not really sure what to do to get it to connect properly?

Is the Samsung S7/ edge worth it in 2018.

    Posted: 13 Apr 2018 09:10 PM PDT

These seem to be the best for budget and I wonder if they are still usable in 2018. Does it run the latest android? Does it run android fast (little to no lag)? Does it get slower over time? If so, how much time? Thanks in advance.

PureGear steel screen protector for S9+?

So I went to the Verizon store and the sales associate told me about these screen protectors. This is the first time i've ever heard about them. Has anyone had any previous experience with this brand of screen protector? Is it worth the money?

Samsung Galaxy S8 keeps showing pop-up ads?

    Posted: 13 Apr 2018 09:15 AM PDT

    Hey guys,

So my friend's S8 recently started showing pop-up ads randomly, sometimes with sound. It's been really annoying him and we can't seem to figure out what the issue is. Malware scans come up negative, and he hasn't installed a single app from outside of the Play Store. The image attached is an ad he got. Screenshot of Ad of S8

    Any ideas?

Galaxy S8 ver. 8.0.0 Secure Folder Glitch

    Posted: 13 Apr 2018 05:39 PM PDT

Hey /r/Samsung, ever since my phone updated on April 4th, I have been unable to open my Secure Folder app. When I click the app, there is a flash of the apps that would be hidden then it goes blank (Just my background, status bar, home button and back button). Only the back and home buttons work at this point. When I try to go into the settings for the app in Settings > Lock Screen and Security > Secure Folder, the settings screen for the app come up but then immediately it just flashes to the same glitched home screen (Just my background, status bar, home button and back button).

Left a negative review on the App store and the feedback was useless (told me to submit a report, but i can't open the app lol). So I did some research and found some people last year successfully fixed this by uninstalling the updates to Secure Folder, however this is no longer possible as there is no uninstall updates or even deactivate icon in the Play store. I even tried an older version of the apk but that failed to install.

I also tried to figure out where on the phone the files and such are stored by plugging my phone into my comp and searching with Hidden Items Viewable, but that was a dead end.

I'm at my wit's end and would really like to get this fixed. I have some files and pictures I'd really like to at least recover. Any help is appreciated.

    Info below:

    Phone: Galaxy SS8

    Model: SM-G950U1

    Android Ver: 8.0.0

    Samsung Exp Ver: 9.0

    Kernel Ver: 4.4.78-13001792

    Knox Ver: 3.0 API 24 TIMA 3.3.0

[Discussion] Anyone else experiencing voice input problems during calls on their S8+?

    Posted: 13 Apr 2018 08:39 AM PDT

Switched over from Apple on Cyber Monday and also got a free Switch out of doing so (thanks for the gift card, Target). On most calls the person I'm talking to has trouble comprehending what I'm saying because to them I sound garbled or super quiet, and this problem is exacerbated when I'm on the phone outside and its just a little windy. Also, whenever I use my headphones to talk to people, they say it sounds like I'm eating the mic—pretty frustrating stuff.

Blowing into the mic doesn't fix these issues. Anyone else experiencing similar issues and/or have any potential fixes?

I have an S6, is it worth upgrading to a S9?

    Posted: 13 Apr 2018 01:02 PM PDT

    I'm in Canada.

I compared S6 to S7 and S8 and it didn't look like it was much of an upgrade at all... I'm comparing against the S9 and I'm still not totally convinced.

I'm on 32gb of storage, S9 has 64gb. But I'm not even at 50% capacity on my S6, so that isn't an issue.

3gb RAM on the S6, S9 is 4gb. The battery is also 3000mAh instead of 2550mAh.

This is the weird one - on the S7, S8 and S9, the main camera is 12 MP, while the S6 is 16 MP. It ends up being like they reduced quality of the camera to keep cost/battery usage/who knows what else down due to the other minimal improvements.

The processor and GPU improvements from S6 to S9 also seem to be pretty modest.

I mostly use it for calls, text messages, email and Facebook Messenger. I game on it sometimes but only until I remember how bad touch controls are for the games I prefer to play, which are old-school style (Sonic, Metal Slug, NES/SNES emulators, that sort of thing) so it's never anything taxing.

I've also had as many as 20 Internet browser windows open at once and didn't notice any slowdown or other issues on my S6.

Given all this, is there a point upgrading from a S6 to a S9 when my S6 is still working fine?

[help] Galaxy A8 vs Galaxy S5

    Posted: 13 Apr 2018 12:04 PM PDT

    Hi Everyone,

I currently have a Galaxy S5 and thinking of getting the Galaxy A8, which is available in New Zealand for $660 NZD. It is a lot cheaper than the S8 which is $1099 NZD.

What are your experiences with this phone? My main concern is the camera - will it be better than the S5 camera?

    Thanks in Advance!
