What they told you about the Galaxy S9 & S9+ Screen Is NOT TRUE!

TIL Samsung launched a health & fitness app 2.5 years before main competitors

    Posted: 29 Apr 2018 07:37 PM PDT

Samsung Health (then S Health) launched on July, 2012.1

Google Fit launched October 2014, followed by Apple Health who was released with iOS 8 in September 2014.2

I am not sure if I am missing something. I find it interesting though, because Samsung has most of the time been the first to implement many new features, even if sometimes half-assed.

As someone who lives in the UK, international models of the S9+ are much cheaper, should I buy one from abroad?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2018 08:06 AM PDT

I'm looking to buy an S9+ soon (just the handset, not on any contract). I live in the UK, so the price is pretty high if I buy one from the usual retailers. However, I've spotted a couple of really good deals online on the EU and Asian versions of the device. Like £100-150 cheaper for the EU or Chinese model.

Now, my question is, are there any functional drawbacks of getting one from abroad? Ignoring the warranty/returns/dodgy sellers issues, would I see any loss of functionality compared to a UK model? I've heard Samsung Pay (on a EU/Asian model) wouldn't work in the UK, is that true? Any other issues?

Is Samsung's Android skin really slow?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2018 06:02 AM PDT

I've never used a Samsung phone before, but I think the new design (post-S8, though it may have come sooner) is really sleek and beautiful.

But is it true that Samsung Experience / Touchwiz is slow (and that it slows down over time more than other skins or stock Android)?

    If so, by how much?

Should I wait for the NSamsung Galaxy Note 9 or the Galaxy Note X Phablet?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2018 05:06 AM PDT

So as the question states, which should I wait for?

I have a S7 Edge with a cracked screen, still usable, but the vibration and some touch functions have not been working since the screen was damage. And it doesn't bother me really, but I'm in the market for an upgrade to the new phone. So I have been doing research and heard that Samsung is working on the Note X as a phone that can be unfolded into a 7 in tablet. Only problem is, is that the Note X is estimated to come in 2019 whereas the Note 9 is confirmed and will be released Fall 2018. What are your opinions on what one should I wait for?

    samsung s7 edge carriers

    Posted: 30 Apr 2018 03:20 AM PDT

i got a s7edge about 2 yrs ago and just paid it off from att , i want to leave their contract plan since its $58/month after all fees for unlimited everything but data which is up to 2gb(with roll over) but charges like $10 per gb after . im going on a road trip so i will need a lot of data and was hoping to switch to a prepaid carrier that does unlimited data(idc if it slows down) for like $35+taxes making like $40 tops.

is there anywhere i can find out or anyone know where i could use my s7 samsung edge i got from att with which carriers its compatible with? i rather not have to buy a new phone for my trip but will if i need to if it comes down to it so i can have unlimited data.

Samsung Galaxy A7 (2015 model) battery percentage dropping from 100% to 94% just 10 seconds after unplugging charger

    Posted: 29 Apr 2018 07:18 PM PDT

So i have a Galaxy A7, 2015 model as a backup phone (my daily driver is an iPhone 6s), and it was my daily driver before i bought my iPhone 2 weeks ago. So the problem is, whenever i unplug the charger, the battery percentage will drop from 100% to 94% (sometimes 93%) in just 10-15 seconds. I am using the original charger that came with the phone when i bought it a year ago. Its also updated to Marshmallow. And i downloaded some battery apps and it said my battery's health is good.

Any help would be appreciated! (I'm actually planning to sell the phone)

Edit: also after 93% (or 94%) it drains at a slower rate

ByPassing Google Sign-in on Note 5

    Posted: 29 Apr 2018 07:27 PM PDT

My dad's phone was hard reset by him and now it wants to sign into his Gmail so we can use it. However, we've tried signing in it says "Due to recent password reset, sign in after 24 hours". Well now, it's been 3 days and we can't get into the phone for him to use. I know what I'm asking seems sketchy but I just want to get it working again. Anyone have a resolution before I have to buy another phone? Thank you.

Housemate's Galaxy Note 5/s8 keeps automatically uploading stuff and killing our bandwith. How can they disable this?

    Posted: 29 Apr 2018 12:24 PM PDT

I have two housemates, one with a galaxy note 5, and one with a Samsung s8 that keeps automatically uploading stuff and killing our bandwith (we have very little upload bandwith). When this happens, we basically get 40% or more packet loss and cannot use the internet.

They are not tech savvy users and have no idea how to turn these automatic uploads off. The note 5 user says she has turned off a sync feature on her phone, but it is still happening occasionally and she does not know what app/setting is causing it. The s8 user refuses to believe her phone could possibly be automatically uploading anything.

The problem is 100% their phones because the packet loss immediately stops once their phones are disconnected from the network.

I do not know what their phone settings look like, nor do I have access to their phones and they obviously will not lend me their phones to see what settings are causing this.

Are there any simple, basic, step by step, instructions that can guide them to identify and turn off ALL automatic uploads for their phones?

These are not tech savvy users. They are not going to install some troubleshooting app, firewall, or anything like that. It needs to be something really simple.

I need help with my Samsung tablet

    Posted: 29 Apr 2018 03:27 PM PDT

My mums Samsung tablet (I think it's a 10.1 or something) is having problems and I'm completely stuck on how to fix them.

Issues are as follows: 1. Slow charging, has been on charge for 5 hours and is only on 5% battery.

    1. When turned on the screen will be black for 15 minutes, sometimes it will just stay black. Only the time is visible in the top corner, and the Samsung logos are visible on load ups

    2. On screen keyboard keeps coming and going

    3. Google App Store will not load and is just blank so cannot try to download updates

    4. I've been on settings to look for system update but there is no option to check for updates. I'm pretty sure it's running on a 2015 software.

    5. Tried to factory reset but this will not work and comes up with 'process system isn't responding'. This message also comes up without clicking factory reset.

If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. I have tried google but because App Store won't work and updates won't show it's not really helping me.

    Thank you

    Discussion: Samsung Financing is Trash

    Posted: 29 Apr 2018 02:47 PM PDT

This may be more of a rant than anything.

I know there a few of people out there who've gone through the same thing but this just needs to be said, again.

The way Samsung does this Upgrade/Financing thing is absolute GARBAGE. Not only is it "Online Only" and you can ONLY do it through their site but on top of that their "Financing Line" which is TD Bank can't do shit. I've been trying to figure out what's going on for 2 months now and I'm done. Experian, who they get their reports from say my report, score, etc. is great, and I make more than enough. I don't even want to buy the phone anymore because of this whole situation. EVERY time you apply it does a hard query on your credit and they have some bull "confidential" requirements on why you get denied. Also, if you want to know why, it takes a whole month to get a reason from TD Bank.

    TL;DR:

-- The way Samsung is doing their Financing is trash.

    -- TD Bank is trash.

-- A phone is not worth all this.

BTW -- Applied for Google Financing and instantly got approved for way more than enough to get a Pixel 2 XL. But I want features the 9+ has. So I guess I'll wait for the next Google phone.

Disable Dolby Digital Audio on Antenna

    Posted: 29 Apr 2018 10:47 AM PDT

Hello! I have an older TV (2011 plasma model pn43d450a2dxza) that i'm trying to convert digital audio to analog. The device says it needs for PCM audio to be turned on or for Dolby audio to be turned off. I don't see any of those choices in the menus (Dolby is turned on when I'm watching over the air antenna.) Where should I look to disable dolby?

    Thanks!
