A potential solution to keep using ES File Explorer even after its fiasco Posted: 20 Apr 2018 07:59 AM PDT Important: this applies largely to ES File Explorer PRO version, if you're using the free version then don't even bother reading further. The free version is a cancer, totally beyond reform, so let it die; the PRO version is more forgiving (relatively). ES File Explorer is pretty useful (or atleast was, before it happened). I really hated giving up on it so I tried to find ways around it. My method is pretty straightforward and based on the simple premise that blocking internet completely to ES File Explorer should shut off most/all of its criticism. I'm rooted, so I used AFWall+ to block internet completely (Data, WiFi, Lan) for EFP, so no more "talking" between ES File Explorer and the Internet. Even if you're not rooted there are very good firewall programs (NoRoot Firewall) that let you achieve this. Just give it a try. I love its [ES FE] functionality and its ability to get the job done. Solid Explorer is a viable alternative and a favorite, but, ES File Explorer is like my hard-to-lose addiction (Do you feel me?). It is always possible that I've been a complete idiot while missing the most basic of understanding. Please explain If I'm missing anything and do add your two cents. [link] [comments] |
Is there a app that allows you to control your android on PC that doesn't get stopped by ads Posted: 19 Apr 2018 10:46 PM PDT Googling for this specifically has been kinda difficult. I want to run this overnight along with a mouse marco for a mobile game but there's no point in doing this if it gets stopped 30 minutes in by ads. Would like to know if there was one without ads or one that puts them on the side so they don't interfere with the mirroring app. [link] [comments] |

Questions on Google's Podcast feature. Posted: 20 Apr 2018 10:29 AM PDT So, I live in India and I've been getting into podcasts in the past week. I've been using Podcast Addict for the past few days. I'm aware that Google Play Music has a podcast feature that's only available in the US. However, I googled a podcast I wanted to listen to and I seemed to get an in-built podcast feature on the Google app and was wondering how this worked and how can I easily access it without having to Google what I want to listen to all the time. They do have a shortcut feature, but I'm still curious how it's part of the Google app and not Play Music. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 20 Apr 2018 08:38 AM PDT I havr been looking for video player since Mx is not trustworthy now so recommend some video player except VLC currently using vlc i don't like it's interface but it's good for streaming and stuff. So planning to use other player for offline video and stuff. I don't mind spending some on app. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Apr 2018 09:19 AM PDT Hey people, I'm working on a new app for Pocket. Been working on it over the past few months and I'm about to release it in alpha on the play store to get feedback. What I couldn't decide was that should users who use the alpha version and give me invaluable initial feedback, get the premium features for free? How do other apps handle this..? [link] [comments] |

Browser cherry picking best features Posted: 20 Apr 2018 01:05 AM PDT I've recently tried to switch to Firefox but I'm finding it so tedious to use, I'm curious (although seems unlikely) if an alternative exists that contains the following features:
I just can't stick with Firefox without Autofill and the tedious tapping... But if I go back to Chrome then I'll miss the custom search engines and the ad blocking. I doubt such a perfect (for me) solution exists, as Brave and Samsung seem to be the top ones and neither tick these boxes. If it does exist though it'd make mobile browsing amazing. Edit: Chrome has now removed the UI from the bottom of the screen 😩 I might have to use an old version. [link] [comments] |
What app/web browser can best convert a page into pdf and send it to an email address? Posted: 19 Apr 2018 05:30 PM PDT My work computer doesn't allow Internet access and this is how we read up on stuff. [link] [comments] |
Alternative for Followers Insight for Instagram? Posted: 20 Apr 2018 12:40 PM PDT Followers Insight for Instagram used to be my to go app for checking Instagram unfollowers and blockers. Now, those two most useful features have been removed and I'm stuck with checking out all the other crap on the store. So my question, does anyone know anything that can come close? Holo Calculator with unit conversion Posted: 20 Apr 2018 08:18 AM PDT There was this app that I had a few phones ago that had volume/weight, etc. conversion in table form so you saw several unit conversions at once but was a Holo UI that I can't find anymore. Does it still exist or has it disappeared from the market? [link] [comments] |

How to set a reminder for "when I leave work" or "when I get to any grocery store"? Posted: 20 Apr 2018 07:52 AM PDT Is there a dynamic reminder app that I can easily set these types of reminders? Even if I have to premake a list of named and categorized places with a geofence (local grocery stores, work), I'd like to quickly add tasks. Does something like this exist? [link] [comments] |

Which streaming service offers the best curated radio stations? Posted: 20 Apr 2018 07:38 AM PDT Curious what others use here. I have Spotify premium but find the curated radio to be pretty trash though everything else about the app I like. I use Pandora for radio and love that you can add multiple artists/songs to stations, I find a lot more new songs I like through Pandora than Spotify radio. Anything else to consider that might top Pandora? [link] [comments] |
App that notifies me when to drink water? Posted: 20 Apr 2018 03:48 AM PDT Is there something good for that? I keep forgetting to drink enough water and it's giving me headaches among other things. I would greatly appreciate the help! [link] [comments] |

Twidere (replacement for Twitter) doesn't show the same 'feed' as Twitter. Why not? Posted: 20 Apr 2018 05:08 AM PDT I presumed that Twidere (and all the other ad-blocking Twitter alternatives) would show the 'normal' feed, sans ads. However, running it alongside Twitter Lite, the tweets that appear in the feed are often different, or in different order, between the two apps. Anyone know why or how this is? Is it because Twidere is sorting tweets by time, and Twitter attempts to show me targeted tweets at the top? [link] [comments] |
App stealing(leaking) mobile background data. Posted: 19 Apr 2018 05:38 PM PDT Two of the podcast apps I've tried, seem to be using background data when they're not supposed to. They used so much I went over my limit and got charged a fee. Here's a screenshot (https://imgur.com/vmTvrzQ) of one of them after only a few hours of use. I have it set to only use Wi-Fi data as well. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Apr 2018 12:57 PM PDT We've recently released RadiusLocker as a public beta. It has been tested extensively on Pixel, Pixel 2, and S7, with moderate testing on S6 and Moto E Gen 2.
RadiusLocker free download (Google Play)
It automatically locks your phone, turns off the screen, and temporarily disables Smart Lock features (face/voice/fingerprint/etc) when your Bluetooth wearable chosen for locking falls out of connection range.
Your PIN/password/pattern will be required to unlock the device for the first time after that, even if the screen was already off. It is not a lock screen replacement, it uses the standard Android administrator system lock feature.
The app is FREE, but an in-app purchase gives you advanced options to avoid a lock when your chosen wearable disconnects, such as: 🔓Your phone is connected to a specified WIFI network SSID 🔓Maps/Waze/Android Auto is detected as the foreground activity (just a "best effort" detection) 🔓Your phone is connected to another specified Bluetooth device 🔓Your phone is charging
The in-app purchase is temporarily lowered in price by a small amount during the initial release period.
You can hide the foreground notification for the service if you like, an explainer for it is in the Tips area of the About page - but it monitors when BT is turned off, and newer Android versions will not allow this type of detection in the background. The app is multi-process, so the service barely uses any RAM (3 to 8MB on our devices instead of about 80 when it was a single process) and only becomes active when BT state changes to on/off. We suggest all developers with constant running services go multi-process, but there's a caveat that Sharedprefs doesn't work across different processes.
Please let us know if you have any problems or feedback. [link] [comments] |
