Posted: 01 Apr 2018 06:24 PM PDT I dont quite know how to properly explain this to get my question across, but you know when you get a notification and the little app icon is in the status bar? you pull the menu down and swipe the notification away. New forced update today for Motorola Z phones? Posted: 01 Apr 2018 06:43 PM PDT So I went to work this morning with my custom background (home screen) image set, I leave my phone in my car, I come out 8 hours later to a whole new fuckin home screen image. I can only assume an update was forced on my phone over the air, but I checked and I'm still running Android 7.1.1. I also noticed that my phone has been super buggy when switching back and forth between various apps, sometimes it takes a good 5 seconds straight to transition from one to another. I've cleared the cache and everything. And my keyboard is suuuuuuuuper laggy here on Reddit but only on Reddit. I'll go to write a comment and it will take like 15 seconds EASY before the words show up that I've typed. I've updated the app, I've again cleared the cache, still does it. Did an update get pushed out to Motorola Z phones today that I had no control over? [link] [comments] |
I need help with a broken Galaxy S4 Posted: 01 Apr 2018 06:59 PM PDT Recently, I managed to break my screen to the point where it is no longer connected to my phone. I tried to use applications on my laptop to save the data off of my phone, but they all require me to go into download mode, which requires a home button that my phone is missing. Any ideas on how I can save my data? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! [link] [comments] |
What is the next best Android phone scheduled to be released that features a removable battery? Posted: 01 Apr 2018 09:00 AM PDT Long time Samsung fanboy, but I've decided out of principle and for practical reasons that I will never buy another phone that does not allow for easy replacement of the battery. This unfortunately means bye bye Samsung. Does anyone know if there are any upcoming phones to feature this? I'm not super enthralled with the options currently available, so I'm willing to wait it out for up to 6 months if a better option will be available in the near future. [link] [comments] |
Voice Recorder App - Random Stutters Posted: 01 Apr 2018 10:13 PM PDT Hello everyone. I am using a Motorolla G 3rd gen. I have been conducting interviews for a project that I'm working on. I have the interviewee wear a set of earbuds with the built in microphone. I then plug the headphones into my android and record everything they say using a voice recorder app. Then, I take the sound file and sync it up with the footage from my camera in Lightworks. My issue is that the voice file always has random "stutters" throughout where a ~1 second chunk of the interview will be missing. For example, if I recorded someone saying "You are submitting a text-based post. Speak your mind." The recording might sound like "You are submi - eak your mind." I have tried two different apps and they both have the issue. Any ideas? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Question regarding using OTG Adapter on a broken screen Posted: 01 Apr 2018 06:11 PM PDT Hello everyone. I recently broke the screen on my Samsung Galaxy J7 and there is no touch capability at all. I was interested in using an OTG Adapter to turn on USB Debugging so I can use Samsung Smart Switch to transfer the data from this phone. My plan was to take continuous screenshots to see where I'm at and allow USB debugging so I can use Vysor or any similar app to get to Smart Switch. Thanks in advance EDIT: I just thought about this as I was typing the op, would it be possible and or ethical to use the OTG Adapter + Screenshot method to go straight to Samsung Smart Switch? Posted: 01 Apr 2018 09:39 PM PDT Carrier is running 2 for 1 on this. Wouldn't bother if it weren't free, because it's ridiculously priced, but wife is switching carriers. Coming from G4. Everything is locked down. No location. Nova launcher. No Google. Can the S9/S9+ be locked down, including fingerprint reader and facial reader shut off? I just want a larger and faster phone. What general-purpose Android blogs do you guys follow these days, if any? Posted: 01 Apr 2018 01:12 PM PDT I did a search, figuring this was the kind of question that gets asked around here at least once a month. Surprisingly, I didn't find any hits, except for one person asking about blogs that weren't focused on news. Are there any blogs that are generally considered better than others when it comes to keeping up with the newest device/app releases & updates? [link] [comments] |

Has anyone here successfully rooted the Galaxy SM G930P Posted: 01 Apr 2018 01:05 PM PDT Does anybody here use the Sprint Galaxy S7? Have you been able to root it? I've been reading on the XDA forums that somebody came up with the method to flash with the Verizon firmware over to Sprint and change some stuff around and successfully get root. However every time I look around the internet all the comments are about how it didn't work or somebody got stuck in a bootloop. I'm looking for definitive information from somebody who owns this device on whether it works or not or what challenges you face. Honestly the XDA forums are pretty on helpful when you ask a question they just refer you back to the OPkind of like stack overflow [link] [comments] |
Writing a thesis on android? (Word Processor and Bibliography that auto-cites) Posted: 01 Apr 2018 04:23 PM PDT My laptop is unbearably slow and I was wondering if I could move over to my tablet (which has a keyboard and mouse). On windows I use Zotero for bibliography and Word for writing and they work well together because of the zotero plug in. Zotero doesn't have anything close to support for a android word processor and I was wondering if there was a combo that did? [link] [comments] |
Samsung Galaxy A5 case question Posted: 01 Apr 2018 11:21 AM PDT Hey guys, I have a new A5 2017 on order. I've been looking at cases and tempered glass screen protectors but it looks to be a bit of a mine field. Apparently some screen protectors don't work with cases due to the shape of the phone. Can anyone recommend a case and screen protector combo for this phone? UK based if that helps. No budget in mind. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Long Press no longer shows app settings. Is there a way to turn this back on? Posted: 01 Apr 2018 04:18 PM PDT Ever since I have updated my Verizon Galaxy S8, I have not been able to open an app's setting by long pressing on its icon. It used to be that four or five options would pop up when I long-pressed including a shortcut to change the app's settings and some basic notification options. Now, I only see these options. Is there any way to change this? I have tried going through my phone's settings and haven't found anything relevant. Googling also hasn't really turned up anything. [link] [comments] |
Is LineageOS with xposed and magisk modules comparable to RR? (both Oreo) Posted: 01 Apr 2018 04:09 PM PDT Hello guys, I never got my hands on LOS or CM so I need your advice.. I imagine that there are a lot of magisk and xposed modules specifically for LOS to adjust the OS as you wish, but is it comparable to RR? I am not looking for specific features as I have been living with MIUI and EMUI for quite a while now, but if I have the choice to change something as I want it I take my time for it, so I don't want to miss too many features. Battery life is not important for my device so I care mostly about the UI modifications. Because my internet is so slow testing different roms is very time consuming so I hope you understand my request. I could also flash Oreo LOS right now while I would have to wait for the RR Oreo release before I could even compare the 2 roms. Thx in advance! [link] [comments] |
Location services bug please help Posted: 01 Apr 2018 04:04 PM PDT I have a note 8 with high location accuracy, and I'm using the stock weather widget on my home screen. Problem is it doesn't stay updated on the hour like I set it to. Promps that pop up are when trying to find my location it says "Couldn't find the location" And when tapping the little refresh cicrle is says "service temporarily unavailable" How do I fix this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Apr 2018 07:41 PM PDT SO...yeah... I set my phone to download and install the Oreo update while I was asleep. I woke up to a blue screen of death, and my whole phone crapped out. I had no cellular network access and the network option in the settings menu has vanished. After a day or so of fiddling the phone has come back to life with Oreo running it (This after a factory reset that seemed to kill the phone, it would just boot into recovery mode over and over and any attempts to get past it resulted in a looping boot sequence.) But the phone still has no cellular network access of any kind and no cellular network settings I can access on the phone. I'm going to take it to a store tomorrow to be looked at but I figured I'd throw the question out to the group to see if anyone knew anything, because trying to google it doesn't really tell me much sadly. Can't figure out what is taking up all my disk space Posted: 01 Apr 2018 03:38 PM PDT I have a galaxy tablet that is reporting 15.9 GB used out of 16 GB storage. But I can't find anything taking up all that space....The Storage settings lists:
Which does not explain much. There's still ~ 13 GB missing somewhere. Obvious the android system is going to use some of that but surely not 13 GB. I've poked around various apps. I've tried Files GO and ES File Explorer and I can't find anything. Is there any app that would be more useful in reporting what all is taking up space? [link] [comments] |
'Stock' Galaxy S4 ROM has some weird permissions Posted: 01 Apr 2018 03:27 PM PDT So I tried LineageOS on my S4 recently, but turns out my broken proximity sensor meant the phone app didn't work properly. So I went to SamMobile.com, hit a few CloudFlare errors, but finally got my stock ROM. It runs just fine, but I stumbled upon some weird permissions in the stock Gallery app. Images: https://pre00.deviantart.net/bac7/th/pre/i/2018/091/6/1/sdfasdf_by_zacharyhogan-dc7m1et.png https://pre00.deviantart.net/22dc/th/pre/i/2018/091/0/b/asdasdasd_by_zacharyhogan-dc7m1ko.png?2 It's the WiFi stuff, 'manage secure system apps' and the bottom few that I'm concerned about. Are these problematic or dodgy at all? [link] [comments] |
WiFi Problem because of new Router Posted: 01 Apr 2018 03:17 PM PDT Today i changed my Internet Router, everything works, ethernet on the computer and the WiFi on my GF's Iphone, but on my Samsung Galaxy S8 it doesnt work anymore, it "succesfully" connects but just doesnt work, does anyone know how i can fix that? What's the easiest way to back up data before a factory reset? Posted: 01 Apr 2018 07:30 AM PDT Hey, I've got a Galaxy S6 and have just overcome a charging issue (not sure how) but I'm planning to make a backup of my data when it's fully charged & do a factory reset. I know of the normal way of just plugging my phone into my PC and taking all the files that I want, but I feel like I'll forget about something, or there may be a quicker, more efficient way of doing this. Has anyone got any suggestions? I read the FAQ and there was a comment about an app called Titanium BackUp. [link] [comments] |
