Favorite weather app with good widgets?!

    Posted: 14 Apr 2018 07:43 AM PDT

So I have been using Weather Timeline for quite some time, but it is basically dead. So I want a new weather app with cool/good homescreen widgets and also a nice app interface. Please, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Whatsapp is over compressing images on status

    Posted: 14 Apr 2018 11:10 AM PDT

Ok whatsapp algorithm to compress images, gif, and videos is a little too much. You can't upload any decent status because the shitty over too much compression. Everything gets too much pixelated. Why compressing that much if the status only takes 24 hours to dissappear?

    ANY TIPS TO AVOID THAT?

Possible Virus from Messenger App Video Scam?

    Posted: 14 Apr 2018 09:12 AM PDT

There's a FB messenger scam going around where a friend sends a video link with no message. The video is a virus. This virus then can access all information on the device. Recently, a friend messaged me and I clicked on the video as I was not aware of the scam. Turns out, the video was the virus video; the virus got ahold of her account and sent the video to pretty much everyone in her Messenger contacts. Including me. Now I'm worried I may have gotten the virus on my Android.

But here's why I'm paranoid: there's nothing wrong with my phone. I changed all passwords remotely (aka, not from that device), logged out of everything, cleared the cache. It still works same as always, no increase in data usage, new weird apps, or my contacts getting weird videos sent to them. But could I still have the virus?

App for resolution changing for games (or alternatives)?

    Posted: 14 Apr 2018 02:33 AM PDT

    Hi there!

I'm new here, so if I made a mistake in posting this here I apologize (and would like guidance on where to post this).

My phone is an ASUS Zenfone 4 Max (Snapdragon 430, 3GB RAM, Adreno 505, 720x1280, not rooted). I have a few games that I play that lag quite a bit at times, so I looked for a way to be able to change my resolution.

I've heard of Game Tuner, but that's only for Samsung phones as I see it. I've also tried changing my resolution through the terminal (648x1152 was as far as I can go since it made the launcher crash without halt). I have not tried that setting much, but one glaring problem I had with it was that it made my window and back buttons stop working (the central button worked, but I guess this is because the window and back buttons were tied to the touch screen itself and not the area of the button) Changing back obviously fixed the problem however.

So with that said, are there any apps similar to Game Tuner? Or maybe even apps that make gaming better?

    Thank you very much!

Email + Calendar app with IMAP and CalDAV?

    Posted: 14 Apr 2018 11:31 AM PDT

I love Outlook but being a Fastmail user im limited to IMAP and DAV protocols to sync email, calendar and contacts. Most email apps with a calendar feature can only handle IMAP or OAuth - has anyone seen anything that can handle DAV and IMAP in one app?

    Whats the deal?

    Posted: 14 Apr 2018 12:47 AM PDT

Earlier today I posted a thread warning about an app. Not sure if the lesson here is not to think about others but I don't think the point got across. And the downvotes were pretty effing rediculous.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/androidapps/comments/8bxoaj/warning_package_disabler_pro_samsung/?st=jfz1q8eu&sh=fb877fb4

It seems like the only replies I got focused on the fact that I downloaded it from aptoid. Which is understandable if they hadn't read the rest of my post. I'm guessing they didn't because the point was that it should still affect the play store as well. Otherwise, I wouldn't have posted it.

Anyways here's the details, maybe I can get some better answers.

-The app from aptoid still asks for a license, it isn't cracked. And according to other posts on this subreddit you can download this app for free and buy a license from the site. The developer had previously offered keys on Reddit. The play store version probably just comes compiled with it.

-After downloading the app, it tries to contact a server. My firewall detected it and whatever it was doing as a botnet/commandcontrol. It is registered to the same developer. I'm guessing it was set up to confirm licenses so this still applies to the Play store.

-The developers main site OSPOLICE.com is being reported as hacked by google.

I have an enterprise firewall set up and especially trust it's detection since this was the first time it's ever gone off. Also google's pretty legit too. Figured it was something that should be posted.

Is there a way to bypass Android auto needing a parking break to start WITHOUT removing my radio and grounding the wire, or a way to make the Android auto radio not launch the app on my phone when connected? Explanation inside.

    Posted: 14 Apr 2018 10:55 AM PDT

I installed an Android auto enabled radio in my truck. I pulled it out of my wife's car because she sold it and we just put the stock radio back in. Well, since I had connected my phone to the radio when it was in her car (and connected to the break line) it worked fine when I moved it into my truck.

However, I got a new phone a few days ago. I really don't feel like taking my dash back out and pulling the radio out again to splice my break wire and hook it up properly. I'm fine just using the radio to change songs and stuff via Bluetooth, but when I plug my phone in it launches the Android auto app and comes up with the parking break error.

I want to be able to bypass needing the break or disable Android auto from launching when I plug it in to charge. I've already uninstalled the auto app, but it still happens. Also set the USB mode to charge only.

    Any ideas?

App for measuring and recording sound levels (in decibels) over several hours?

    Posted: 14 Apr 2018 01:53 AM PDT

I need to record sound level measurements in my apartment over about 24 hours. Ideally, an app would be able to store the audio and the measured dB level, and give me some way to jump to timestamps with high measurements.

    Multiple Mock VPNs?

    Posted: 14 Apr 2018 09:44 AM PDT

It doesn't sound like it would be possible but I would like to use both Blokada and a firewall without root. I think both technologies work through setting up mock VPNs and it seems unlikely that I could have two mock VPNs running at once. Am I right and if so what options if any might I have without rooting?

Mirroring Android to PC for Playing Games

    Posted: 13 Apr 2018 11:40 PM PDT

I would like to know if there is any app that's dedicated to mirroring my android screen to windows pc to play games? If so, is there also a keyboard to touch overlay that allows you to assign keys like WASD to touch movements on specific points on the screen?

I have tried using Noxplayer to play android games on my pc, but with it being an emulator it's just too laggy on pc.

What I'm looking for is an application that mirrors android onto my pc, but has something like the keyboard control overlay that Noxplayer has which allows it to bind keyboard and mouse inputs and even things like "right click to aim down sights" and also full mouse support (moving the mouse = dragging the screen around) so that I could play android shooter games with KB/M, while not needing to emulate.

Any help would be much appreciated.

[DEV] Anime Soundboard App Created With Thunkable!

    Posted: 14 Apr 2018 10:58 AM PDT

As a slow learner of Java, I decided to try out Thunkable. With nothing reuired other than logics and few basics on variables and things like that, a moderately complex app could be very well made.

As a thunkable developer of Android, this is my first app Baka - Anime Soundboard | Quotes

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shinlookupto.bakaanimeboard

If you happen to be someone who wants to develop app just like the above or want to improve my app, all the suggestions and questions are welcome. As you rmind

Searching for a way to sync bookmarks/history/e.t.c from Vivaldi(windows) to Firefox(android)

    Posted: 14 Apr 2018 01:11 AM PDT

Not too long ago i began using Firefox on my android phone since i realised how much i enjoy it being able to use Advanced Download Manager, Ublock origin, so forth while surprisingly enough being faster then i remember it being before "guess we can thank quantom for that".

since firefox 1. is an open source browser, 2. has extension support, i figured it would be possible to find an extension or something pulling history/bookmarks/e.t.c from vivaldi and firefox putting it into itself, which lead me to an extension called xmarks... which got closed down 30th march never too be touched again, and some further investigating on this made me find an extension called XBrowserSync, xbrowsersync.org and while this doesnt get my bookmarks into firefox "which is my primary objective here", it does let me access my vivaldi bookmarks from within its app, so while there may be better alternatives for xmarks im just using this atm since it doesnt require an account.

T.L.D.R im searching for an alternative to xmarks(since its dicontinued) so that i can sync bookmarks from vivaldi on windows to firefox on android

and with that i encourage active conversation to be had down in the comment section \o/

    Android Messages/Gallery GS9+

    Posted: 14 Apr 2018 10:44 AM PDT

When I saved pictures from Android Messages, it would create an album called "messages" and all my pictures would be to there. It doesn't do that anymore. You have to go into the file manager to see the pictures. Anyone know why this is?

    App for Long Term Planning

    Posted: 14 Apr 2018 12:49 AM PDT

Hi, is there any app that would allow me to set goals for a period of more than 30 days, and would remind me the goals of that particular day every morning? It would be great if it would also allow me to tick mark the tasks I've completed. I know there are plenty of apps that let you do that with recurring tasks, but is there any that lets me personally add each day's task before hand?

    Thanks!

How do I know call recorder app is secure and private?

    Posted: 13 Apr 2018 06:22 PM PDT

I discovered the ACR app and it's been amazing. I do a lot of interviews I need to record, and I used to put my phone on speaker phone and record with an audio recorder, but ACR automatically records all my calls without picking up extra background noise...

My question, and maybe I'm paranoid, is how do I know the app isn't secretly sharing my recordings or allowing people to access them? Also, can I be sure it's not recording me when I toggle it off? Am I paranoid?

Any app for listening to music in the car by turnning your phone in a radio transmiter?

    Posted: 14 Apr 2018 06:07 AM PDT

I don't even know if this is possible but in the past i've owned special car devices that did just that. I have also searched the playstore for such apps but i could only find some rippoffs that didn't work. Any ideas?
