Headphone jack stopped working all of a sudden on RN3 Kenzo

    Posted: 31 Mar 2018 06:43 PM PDT

Hi. I have a Kenzo since the last 2 years and it has been a flawless device for me. However just a couple of days back my earphone jack stopped working all of a sudden (Works on speaker when I insert earphones and does not have headphones connected icon) I went to the official service center and they say to replace the motherboard which costs around 45% of the total price of the phone when I bought it 2 years back. Is there any cheaper solution to fix my headphone jack?

Budget phone: mi a1 or redmi note 4 with custom rom?

    Posted: 31 Mar 2018 04:21 AM PDT

I bought my moto e 2nd gen for 80$ 2 years ago, and it died a few days ago. I am definitely used to slow and sluggish phones so either of these two phones will be a massive upgrade from the moto e 2nd gen, I think.

The thing is that I cannot decide between them. MI Global Store on Ali express is selling the Mi A1 only for 20$ canadian more than it is selling the RN4 for. I'm looking at the 4GB 64GB version of both.

I do not care about camera at all. Battery is a concern but I don't need it to last a crazy time either. I do not play games, I mostly use my phone for occasional GPS, tracking my workouts and minimal talking and texting.

I tend to prefer stock and clean operating systems rather than mods with lots of bells and whistles. RN4 comes with MIUI but I read it can be flashed with lineageOS or other custom ROMs that are closer to vanilla Android than MIUI. Some guy in another thread said that it was kind of late to get a RN4, while others said it had a strong custom ROM community.

Also, apparently th Mi A1 feels sturdier and higher quality in the hand, but RN4 has better battery.

What should I get? Mi A1 or redmi note 4 and flash it with a custom ROM?

    Thank you for your advice.

    Mi A1 lag?

    Posted: 31 Mar 2018 09:26 AM PDT

Hey guys! I am using the Xiaomi Mi A1 and Everytime I use an app that needs to load image/video content the phone seems to lag. For apps like 'Snapchat' or 'Instagram' the lag only happens at the initial start of the app. But for 9GAG the lag always happens while scrolling. Do you guys have the same problem? Is there anything I could do about this? Thank you for your answers :)!

Xiaomi Vacuum 1 owners, issues with carpets that have black stripes?

    Posted: 31 Mar 2018 06:34 PM PDT

I have a carpet that has black stripes on it. The vacuum isn't cleaning the carpet. Does it have something to do with the automatic "virtual wall" detection feature?

The most Stable Gcam for Redmi Note 4 mido (no crash in bright light)

    Posted: 31 Mar 2018 08:46 AM PDT

Hello brothers. I have been testing ALL of GCAMs that are out now. I am not debating picture quality, because there are variables, but stability is another issue. All of the other cameras i have tested, always and I mean always crash on bright light... except this one. I have been testing it for 6 months, very very veryyyyy rarely crashed (maybe 5 times in 6 months), unlike the others that are crashing constantly multiple every single day. The camera doesn't have portrait or front HDR mode, but the back camera is perfect. So please feast yourself also. Thanks to B-S-G GC5.0.009 https://files.fm/u/yju7gras#

Problem with mi5 sim tray release

    Posted: 31 Mar 2018 04:43 PM PDT

Wondering if anyone has a solution to the problem I've found with my mi5.

Basically where you insert the pin (or paperclip) to release the sim card tray is ineffective so the only way to get your sim card out is to pull the phone apart (bending the tray as it should be removed before disassembly). The one and only time I removed the sim card tray was when I first got the phone and only tried again last week.

Has anyone encountered anything similar and any fixes would be appreciated.

    Redmi 5 Plus reading experience

    Posted: 31 Mar 2018 12:20 PM PDT

I have an old 8" tablet which I mainly use for reading PDFs. Redmi 5 Plus has smaller screen but way better pixel density, how good is it overall for reading text, will it handle PDF?

Redmi Note 5 (Pro) global - no USB-C?

    Any amazfit stratos owners here?

    Posted: 31 Mar 2018 06:44 AM PDT

Got mine today and was able to do one indoor run to test it out. Would like to hear your initial impressions and experiences?

I'm also a garmin fenix 3 owner, reason why i swiched to this was that (1) cheaper (2) optical HR (3) lighter and i can wear to to the office.

After just one use i can say that i'm pretty satisfied so far, the only drawback that i've seen today is the battery life definitely the fenix line is more superior in this regard. For now i don't think i'd be going back to my fenix 3.

Difference between versions of the same model of phone(Mi A1)

    Posted: 31 Mar 2018 02:13 PM PDT

I've decided to buy a Xiaomi Mi A1, and there is the 32GB version, and the 62GB version in my local store. All other specs are the same, including the RAM. I've been using 16GB devices for a long time, and haven't had a problem with the storage size. So I'm not sure which version I should buy. The price difference is negligible, so I'm wondering if there would be a difference in performance between the two. Also, I'd keep most of my photos and music on an sd card (without filling it up to the brim), and the apps on internal, is this the way to go?

Where should I buy a new battery for Mi4?

    Posted: 31 Mar 2018 02:01 PM PDT

I have to change the battery of my Mi4 because the original one has swollen. I checked on Aliexpress, but there are various batteries from different brands and I do not know which one I should buy. What do you suggest me? Is there a store who sells only original Xiaomi batteries?

buying a (global) Redmi note 5 in Shanghai

    Posted: 31 Mar 2018 12:05 PM PDT

My father in law will travel to Shanghai next week. I am looking for a new phone and want to buy the Redmi note 5. Some things are still unclear to me after googling and going through this sub.

-Redmi note 5 in china = the redmi note 5 pro? (named like this in other countries?)

    • a global version of the phone exists? (according to kimovil it does)

    • Can you buy a global version of the phone in the mi store in shanghai?

    thanks in advance

LG G6 or Xiaomi Mi Mix 2

    Posted: 31 Mar 2018 08:15 AM PDT

I posted the same question to the LG G6 reddit, to hear the other side I'm coming here...

Price: LG G6 (380 euro) and the Mi Mix 2 (440 euro). LG is obviously cheaper and in my opinion has an advantage with IP68 and (seemingly) sturdier build, but I read about allot of complaints (camera glass breaking, battery problems, etc.). It's like people are disappointed with it. The Mi Mix 2 has a design witch just keeps me going wow… , and it will probably keep getting updates more frequently, but seems fragile like hell.

The difference in screen resolution, camera performance and 3.5mm jack (using mostly bluetooth) are not a big deal for me. Not into games, mostly reading and surfing on the internet, listening to music, ocasionaly watching videos.

    What would you suggest?

    Google Assistant not speaking answers

    Posted: 31 Mar 2018 10:54 AM PDT

    Hi guys,

Google Assistant doesn't speak answers when asking it various questions, such as "What's the weather like".

I have tried all the usual fixes such as clearing app data, uninstalling app updates, etc. Nothing seems to work.

This is on a Mi Note 2, MIUI Global 9.2.1.0 (latest version), Google version 7.23.26.21.arm64.

    TIA
