Its the little thing that add up in the end

    Posted: 03 Mar 2018 09:43 AM PST

I decided to write my opinion on OP 5T and share some thoughts from the owner's perspective that likes to keep the phones for a few years and appreciates solid quality products. I just sold my 5T and its very likely I will buy S9+ and here is why.

Since it was announced I was very excited about 5T and I actually bought it on the same day it launched. Having an old Nexus 6, I was impressed by the speed, fingerprint sensor, dash charging and build quality on 5T. Everything was great except the little things that I soon begun to dislike both in the hardware, OOS and OnePlus itself. Lets start with hardware

LED notification light - I always liked having to use that instead of turning on the screen even if it uses fancy tech to lit up certain things etc. On 5T the LED is so tiny that you dont really see it from a reasonable distance , especially if the phone is on a flat surface.

The camera - I know at this price range I shouldn't have expected something amazing but I feel the camera is even worse due to the fact OnePlus failed to use both camera in a proper way to produce good photos even in poor lighting conditions. This is evident from the XDA posts and complains that sometimes it takes good photos and sometimes they look like crap.

Again these are things you can live with but they do add up in the end.

OSS - The OS itself has some cool features that compliment Android nicely but there are a few thing that I begun to dislike the more I used it. First is the Nav bar, I dont know why OP decided to make them smaller but when you hold it next to another device the difference is very noticeable , especially given the size of the screen. Also another issue and inconsistency. In some apps the nav bar is black/transparent while in others its white. Again its a small thing and can be fixed with a 3rd party software but it gets irritating especially when OPlus claims they listen to feedback...

Then came the Oreo update also known as Noreo thanks to the laziness of OP as they failed to update Google play Services to proper version and if you dig deeper you can find other leftovers from Nougat or AOSP Oreo. Notification bar changes were attributed to Oreo update but its done so poorly that they might as well kept it as it was.

Lastly its the company itself - They are LAZY , there is no other way to put it. They dont care what the community wants , almost all the good suggestions that people gave on the forums were either closed or ignored. Security updates while not critical are done in very weird way too. No other company afaik uses the first day of the month in their security updates but we for some reason get December 1st instead of 5th like any other device. Last thing is the L1 hardware certification which is by itself it not a big deal as I dont watch HD Netflix on my phone but it still bothered me because its just pure laziness on their end as there are no fees or other things for companies to decide if they want to include that DRM or not.

Overall I accumulated so many mixed feelings about this phone and the maker that I decided to sell it and move on. Please don't use the argument that I can install a custom OS (such as Lineage 15) because I know I can, its the matter of not wanting to flash a new OS on a device that is not even one year old.

    Thank you for reading

OnePlus where are my expandable quick settings tiles?

    Posted: 02 Mar 2018 10:31 PM PST

This was an incredibly useful feature and I was so excited when it was introduced and use it daily to switch WiFi networks and connect to Bluetooth devices.

My initial belief was that this feature was removed mistakenly or due to a software problem that cropped up during the Oreo update, however since we've had a couple follow-up updates to OxygenOS since, I now ask OnePlus, where are expandable quick settings tiles? Do they have any plan to bring them back? Is this something the community wants back?

For me personally, this is almost enough of a deal-breaker that I'll probably be switching to LineageOS in the future.

Does anyone else ever experience your device being recognized incorrectly? Like not even a OnePlus device? Today was the second time I noticed Facebook showing my device as a Huwaei mate 10

    Posted: 03 Mar 2018 05:09 PM PST

Sometimes when I log back into Facebook (same browser without clearing cache) I receive emails informing me of a new login from "Huawei bla-l09."

I use an op3 if that makes a difference (?)

What are some things to think about when switching from iOS to the OnePlus 5T?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2018 04:15 PM PST

I know there have been a few similar threads before, but I would like some answers to some specific questions (If you have something else to say about the topic, though, feel free to share it :D)

Questions/Topics: * What are some of the main differences between iOS, Stock Android, and OxygenOS? * What are some pitfalls that new users should avoid?

With all the hate on here, want to highlight one amazing thing:

    Posted: 03 Mar 2018 12:50 AM PST

The battery. I went from needing a 6000 mah battery case with my s7edge just to get me through the day to having a phone that will last me a day or two on moderate usage and up to 12 hours on high usage for my 5T. It's seriously amazing. And on dash charging: I don't even charge my phone overnight anymore, because my phone can easily be charged or topped up enough to last me through the day before I get to work. Just wanted to spread some positivity.

Poor RAM management - 5T 6gb RAM model

    Posted: 03 Mar 2018 07:53 AM PST

Hi, so I was wondering if you guys have any issue with RAM management. Apps need to refresh/reload alot and it's been like that since Nougat. It's not usable for multitasking. Only basic apps (phone, messenger) are still in RAM. It's a real problem for me and I would like some input.

    Note : Doze is disable

    On 6gb RAM model, 8.0, 5.0.4 (latest)

    dnd - until next alarm

    Posted: 03 Mar 2018 02:25 PM PST

Until the 5T, I've always used rooted and used some other ROM (CyanogenMod, OctOs, etc.) One feature I used every day was the "DND - Until Next Alarm". It's claimed the OxygenOS is as close to stock as you can get so I was surprised to see it wasn't in OxygenOS.

They had to make a conscious decision to remove that function and I can't imagine why. I'm not a big fan of the slider - I often forget to reset it after the alarm goes off. I do like having it to quickly quiet the phone in a meeting for example but it's terrible for a repetitive thing like alarms.

Outside of rooting and installing LineageOS, is there any other way to get this feature?

Where can I buy reputable OnePlus batteries?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2018 02:05 PM PST

I'm still using my OnePlus One, two years and running strong. I've dropped it so many times, and I can still last about a day with light to medium usage. But it's definitely showing its age.

I don't have the funds to currently upgrade my phone at the moment, and for what it's worth, I only use it to browse the web and watch videos. So I don't need the latest hardware.

Where can I buy a replacement reputable battery that would be almost indicative of a New phone once I replace my current?

    Thanks in advance.

Oneplus should release an update for OOS of the OPO

    Posted: 03 Mar 2018 04:37 PM PST

Yes, it's an old phone but I think there are a lot of people who still use and love their OPO (I'm one of them). Wouldn't it be cool if OP just updated their first flagship for old timers like us?

    Problem with Play store

    Posted: 03 Mar 2018 12:06 PM PST

Hi I have Oneplus 5t rooted. Today I faced an issue in google play store. It doesn't show my installed apps where they are used to be. Tried to kill and clear play store and services. Also clearing cache in recovery mode didn't help. What should I do?

    Oneplus 5t cases questions

    Posted: 03 Mar 2018 02:38 AM PST

I've purchased the black silicon case and at first it was great, but it was very difficult to put it in my pocket. Every time i put it in my pocket i have to use both my hands and really force it in, does anyone else have this problem? I'm thinking about buying a new case since the case that came with the phone isn't all that great. I can't choose between the sandstone case and karbon case. Do these cases have the same issue with putting it in your pocket? I've read that the karbon and sandstone both are great, so I just wanted to know if either of these cases have the same issue as the silicon case.

    Op5t Battery

    Posted: 03 Mar 2018 06:32 AM PST

Hello, I recently got my 5T. I love this phone. I'm only not sure about the battery. After charging it to 100% and disconnecting it from the charger it almost immediately drops to 99% (after 5 min or so) and then a bit slower to 98%. Then it goes down pretty normal. I get a screen on time of about 4 hrs across two days, which is fine I think. Is that normal?
