Posted: 03 Mar 2018 04:15 AM PST I purchased the Ideapad 720s a few days back and while it is an awesome laptop, I have one problem with it. The fan is unbearably noisy and loud, it randomly pulsates up and down when even doing simple web browsing. Browsing Lenovo's forums seems to suggest that it is an issue with this model but I can't seem to find a solution. Thought I would try my luck here and see if anyone has any solutions. What's the Best/Fastest 15 Inch laptop for £1,000? Posted: 03 Mar 2018 09:03 AM PST Hi all, I was hoping for some advice with the the below. Purchased a Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Series but the fan is unbelievably loud (even when just browsing online). So I'm looking for a replacement. Broadly want the laptop to be as fast as possible for c. £1,000 and hopefully remain fast and usable for a good number of years.

Best gaming laptop in the UK around £1500? Posted: 03 Mar 2018 01:37 PM PST I'm looking to buy a gaming laptop that will last me a while, preferably somewhere I can spread the cost but that's not a necessity. I'd be playing games like Fortnite, Minecraft, GTA V, Assassins Creed Origins, Tomb Raider etc. Not sure if it's worth me going for the 1070 to future proof myself or if I'd be better off going for a 1060 for less or with better specs elsewhere/cooling etc. This one seems pretty good, and I can't find any others that have similar specs for around this price range. The only issues I can find are cooling related. Does anybody have any better options that are easily available through trusted sellers with good customer service etc? [link] [comments]
How do I prevent this from happening? Posted: 03 Mar 2018 01:25 PM PST Hi, I'm a Web Dev and an E-commerce Entrepreneur. I work mainly from my laptop (because I tend to travel sometimes for long periods of time) but last week my laptop died so I bought a new one (Dell XPS 15). Since I work from my laptop a lot (sometimes 12+ hours per day) I always have to keep it plugged in, otherwise I'd always have to plug/unplug it all the time. This causes a major issue, that the battery will "die" rather quickly, or more so end up not lasting 2 hours after a month of two of using it like this. So for this one I don't want that to happen, as whenever I was traveling somewhere my laptop would always run out of battery in a matter of minutes due to this. What's the best way to keep the battery "healthy"? I was thinking of just storing it away when I know that I will won't go anywhere from home for a couple weeks and just put it in when I'm traveling, or planning on working at a coffee shop. Is this the best solution? Would this still degrade the battery? Is there a recommended temperature/way to keep it while I'm not using it? Thanks. [link] [comments]

Are 2 in 1 laptop hinges better than traditional laptops? Posted: 03 Mar 2018 02:03 AM PST I'm personally using a 2 in 1 Dell inspiron 5000 laptop. I constantly use the laptop in tablet mode and started wondering if the hinges are going to wear off any time soon? I've had other non convertible laptops before where the hinges eventually gave up and fell apart. With a convertible laptop I'm starting to think they will loosen even quicker to the point where they wont be able to hold up my screen anymore. Are these 2in1 laptop hinges maybe built better than older ones? I tried googling the answer but all i find are instructions on how to repair broken hinges..any insight would be appreciated :) [link] [comments]
Advice on where to sell a laptop besides Craigslist? Posted: 03 Mar 2018 10:05 AM PST Basically, my gaming laptop was having issues, and the warranty-covered repair was botched. So the company sent me a brand new one (in box), which I'd like to sell (since I don't really use it enough to justify cost). Craigslist has been nothing but low-ballers, and I'm a little concerned about the high fees and buyer-bias on eBay and Amazon. Anyone have any recommendations? [link] [comments]

Hp Envy 13 MX 150 or Lenovo Yoga 720 1050 Posted: 03 Mar 2018 09:56 AM PST Hi all. I have selected a new laptop for blogging/vlogging. My main requirements are: - good keyboard - good touchpad - good IPS screen I've selected a HP Envy 13 with dGPU MX 150. My concern is about editing video in Hit Film express (1-2 videos a week). Will mentioned graphic will be suitable or I definitely have to go for nVidia 1050 ? If yes, my selection will be Lenovo Yoga 720. Please support me with selection from these laptops. I prefer HP as is more portable. I do not have a budget for XPS 15, so there is no point to offer it. Thanks a lot. [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Mar 2018 09:02 AM PST Hi, This is probably my 1500th post about this topic, and my brain is still facing a dilemma. I'm a student in grade 9, so I've got a few years to go. Im currently using a 2015 Macbook air 13" but it has completely broken down already and Im looking for a new laptop. I'm a gamer, but mostly overwatch and looking to delve into some fortnite soon and maybe some r6s. These arent games that require a really strong GPU. I'm looking for a computer that can last me a while, with good performance, portability, and battery. I have narrowed it down to two choice : MBP 15 radeon 560 and the aero 15 with the gtx 1060. I know on paper the aero looks much better, however I've fallen in love with macOS and not sure if the switch to windows is easy or not. Also there are so many factors like viruses, dual booting. Another problem hidnering me from getting the aero is that i dont live near any of their service providers/ distributors, and the nearest one is in singapore(im based in hong kong) whereas there are apple stores everywhere. Thanks for reading this and have a good day. [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Mar 2018 04:34 AM PST I thought Dell XPS was a finger magnet but this HP Spectre in Dark Ash Silver also attracts finger marks all over the case and due to its materials, I couldn't wipe them off using a damp cloth... How do you guys keep this machine free of finger prints? [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Mar 2018 05:25 AM PST It's more than a year old but the build is pretty creaky right now. The quad core i5s look like an upgrade, but don't seem value for money. Is there anything promising expected with intel 9th gen or AMD? [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Mar 2018 03:34 AM PST Hi, I'm new to this sub and would want to ask what is the best laptop maybe around $1000-1500 for 3D modeling and rendering. I'm also a game developer using Unreal Engine 4. I'm not really a laptop type of guy but I need one for work. I'm eyeing the Lenovo Yoga 720 15" 4k with a GTX 1050. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you! [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Mar 2018 02:16 AM PST Heyo all, So recently i've been browsing the web for skins to apply on my laptop, but i cannot find any, now i'm not sure if it's a laptop that's not popular enough or something, so i'd like to know if there are websites that offer skins for this model or do it on request. Laptop graphics and Keyboard suddenly awful Posted: 02 Mar 2018 04:08 PM PST First off, I don't know if this is the correct subreddit to use but it seemed best, I'd tried to find a solution on google and I've updated my drivers as suggested but the issue still persists, so I have turned to reddit for help. I've had my laptop for 2-3 years (HP Pavilion 15-G094SA) and during that time, I've used it mainly for coursework, games and YouTube/Twitch. I used to be able to run League of Legends easily and play without noticing any fps lag whatsoever, however I never paid any attention to what that fps was, now however, the game has become unplayable with an 08-24 fps at the majority of times. My brother has always used my laptop to run RuneScape as well and not even that has graphics that you'd consider 'good' anymore, it is like looking at a piece of work from the kid who hated art at school. When i'm on YouTube now, I struggle with anything over 480p bar the occasional time it can cope with 720p and there is no chance of 1080p, whilst on Twitch, it buffers to the point the stream is unwatchable and usually the resolution changes constantly to make it playable even if it is unwatchable. Now to the keyboard part, for some reason, my keyboard will randomly spam a key, keys won't work, keys will stick etc, everything you could think that could go wrong with a keyboard, does. When one key plays up, usually a few other keys do at the same time, so I put these combinations into Google and did what they said, cleaned the keyboard etc, issue still persists. I've never had these issues up until about 4 months ago, after I sent it off for a repair because the left touchpad button stopped working and once the laptop came back, it had been wiped completely, all programmes etc (which seemed stupid to me seeing as it was only changing a button over) and they even managed to lock me out of the laptop by removing my password and putting a password one on that not even they knew. I've had an issue with the keyboard and graphics since and i'm not sure what it could be causing all the issues or whether the laptop is just ready to say hello to the bin. Any help would be greatly appreciated [link] [comments]

Buying Help, College Gaming Laptop Posted: 02 Mar 2018 09:33 PM PST I'm deciding between two laptops at the moment it's either between a Prostar Clevo and a Dell Inspiron, I mainly want it for gaming like Civilization and Total War and general college work. I feel both of these are really decent choices but I don't know which one to go for out of the two or if yall have any other suggestions that would be appreciated. My budget is in $1100 range. Posted: 02 Mar 2018 05:05 PM PST Hi guys, what's everyone's boot time? I'm experiencing a new issue where after I system restored (for like the 5th time due to poor Microsoft Reps not knowing what to do), my boot times have been super slow. I have a 960 PRO NVME with the OS installed on it, and use the stock SSD that came with the Aero for photos and videos. Before the lock-screen shows up, the screen is black with an active cursor for quite a bit of time. My old laptop from 2013 boots in 6 seconds and the only reason I felt comfortable purchasing the Aero was that I thought it would out-perform my old laptop. I've also been experiencing other issues as well but for now, here's a video that demonstrates my issue. [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Mar 2018 08:12 PM PST I am buying this very soon and am planning on using Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut mainly to reduce fan noise. I have repasted before but want to know if there's anything I should look out for because it's my first time with liquid metal. [link] [comments]
