FYI: Don't purchase Lenovo Tab 4 tablets as Lenovo's latest patch has screwed up their WiFi Posted: 02 Mar 2018 09:58 AM PST A few weeks ago I purchased a Lenovo Tab 4 8 Plus (horrible name) off of Amazon. It was a good price with average specs, and when I got it I was pretty happy with it. Unfortunately, my tablet soon downloaded their latest security patch (dated December 2017) which has completely killed the WiFi. It seems to happen with networks that let you transition between 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands. I have the Google WiFi mesh system which doesn't allow me to specify bands for devices or give separate SSIDs, so the tablet connects to best available. When it switches between bands it will cause the WiFi to stop working but it will still indicate that it's connected. You then have to disable the WiFi and reconnect and it will start working again, but sometimes only for a few minutes before the same problem happens. AFAIK this is happening on all Lenovo Tab 4 models - the 8 and 8 Plus, as well as the 10 and 10 Plus. There are a number of posts on the Lenovo forums referring to this issue. Lenovo has yet to make any official comment on it. [link] [comments]

What are all you wishing will come in P? Posted: 02 Mar 2018 09:00 AM PST I have a few things I want. But I really doubt they're happening. Official theme engine support being standardized (no more substratum crashing) The option to always pull down quick settings, because I don't get enough notifications to ever need the shade being that empty. A caffeine button in the quicksettings. Official background usage restriction. Disabling the stupid gradient added to the shade and lockscreen. And finally, way more settings for night mode, I like a very particular CF lumen setup. I recently realized the only things I'm using root for are that, and greenify/ex kernel manager. [Gboard] Voice transcription key moved from predictive text bar to where the comma used to be Posted: 02 Mar 2018 07:25 AM PST This absolutely sucks, Google replaced the comma key to the left of the keyboard with the voice transcription key? Why? There used to be a dedicated place for it in the top right in the predictive text row. At least give us the option to place it back. Now my muscle memory is all messed up. I have to either long press the period key or press the special character key to have it show up in the correct place. Gboard Version: 7.0.4.187278172-release-arm64 Anyone else have this issue? Edit: I think I'm on the beta channel [link] [comments]

Sharp expanding to Europe for smartphones for 2018 | Pocketnow Posted: 02 Mar 2018 09:11 AM PST I wanted to bring up this topic for discussion, as I'm underwhelmed by the lack of phones coming out of MWC 2018. The original article implied that Sharp, now owned by Foxconn, would become a global player. A more recent leak confirmed this. Now, we are past MWC and not a peep. It felt like only Sony and Nokia had the balls to compete with the S9 and S9+ for the premium price bracket. Asus came out with their 1/2 priced Iphone X, and it is appealing for what you get, but I was hoping for more originality. The supposed Sharp Aquos S3 has a very familiar notch, but some of their other designs are enticing. Examples here and here. One of these was only a concept, but the second one came out last December. Sharp started the "Bezelles" trend and I am really looking forward to what they do next. Are there any other companies to watch that will bring a compelling device on a global scale? [link] [comments] |
