5 Quick Tl;Dr Android Game Reviews / Recommendations (Episode 45) Posted: 02 Mar 2018 08:48 AM PST Happy weekend, fellow AndroidGamers! I've had a great week of mobile gaming, and I'm excited to share my 5 latest recommendations. Let's discuss the games in the comments. New to these posts? Check out the first one from 45 weeks ago here. The games games are "ranked" somewhat subjectively from best to worst, so take the ranking for what it is :) Let's get to itTiny Rails [Game Size: 106 MB] (free)Genre: 8-bit / arcade / train management - Offline tl;dr review: An amazing 8-bit arcade'ish train management game where you slowly build up a train empire by expanding your train and buying up train stations with gold earned from getting people safely from point A to point B, as well as buying and selling goods all over the world. There are no forced ads, and while the iAPs do go all the way up to $100, I don't see any reason you'd want to buy it except for supporting the developers and progressing a bit faster. The game's simple to get into, but with plenty of upgrades, train sections to unlock etc., the game will definitely keep you entertained for quite some time. Google Play: Here First Impressions / Review: Here GunStrider: Tap Strike [Game Size: 149 MB] (free)Genre: Shooter / Top-Down / Arcade - Offline tl;dr review: From a top-down perspective, your objective in GunStrider is to tap enemies of varying strength to shoot them before they shoot you, while avoiding shooting civilians. With a couple of different skills, several weapons, and upgrades of all kinds, you slowly grow stronger and stronger as you play through the campaign, or join the "league" to see how far you can get in the endless version of the game. The game monetizes through incentivized ads, and by selling other playable characters and weapon, and it is one of the more entertaining arcade'ish games I've played this week. Google Play: Here First Impressions / Review: Here ChronoBlade [Total Game Size: 514 MB] (free)Genre: Brawler / Fighting / Action / 2D - Online tl;dr review: After 6 years of waiting, ChronoBlade mobile has finally released, and it's combat and visual style is really great! All 4 heroes are unlocked right from the start, and there are plenty of options to customize skills based on play-style (not to mention the many attack combos). However, there IS an energy system, and the equipment upgrade system, which requires various resources found in-game or in chests, leans towards being p2w, due to the influence it has on the real-time PVP arena. However, this is still the best 2D brawler fighting game I've played this year, and I believe it is worth a try - if for nothing else then at least to enjoy the singleplayer for an hour or two. Google Play: Here First Impressions / Review: Here Evil Cogs [Total Game Size: 137 MB] (free)Genre: Puzzle / Adventure / Indie - Offline tl;dr review: An adventure puzzle game that reminds me a lot of Limbo and BADLANDS. It has been in development for several years by a two-person indie-team, and the aesthetics and dark and gritty - but beautiful. We control a little blob of light, finding its way through a dark world of dangerous cogs and evil monsters by tapping either side of the screen to slowly wobble left or right. Two chapters with a bunch of levels are available already, with a third chapter in development. Sadly, the game is filled with ads unless you buy an IAP to remove them - so consider this more of a free to try than free to play, as you will most likely get annoyed by the ads after a while. Google Play: Here First Impressions / Review: Here Chrono Clash [Total Game Size: 1.37 GB] (free)Genre: Strategy / RPG / Turn-based - Offline tl;dr review: A turn-based strategy rpg with all the usual elements like equipment enhancement and forging, with the addition of "jobs", which allows you to change any of your 5 heroes' skills completely (e.g. you can switch from warrior to rogue). The game has quite a bit of depth and shows some potential, but I wasn't too happy about the "energy" system hiding as "Fatigue", and the fact that the game forces us to play a ton of quest missions in order to progress in the story missions. It felt grindy for no reason other than to slow progress down. I think some of you might enjoy this game - and I had fun with it for some hours - but it's not perfect at this point. It IS still in beta, though, so I hope that in time, the game will improve. Why is it so hard for truly open world games to exist on mobile? Posted: 02 Mar 2018 11:28 AM PST Every game I play is just going from one stage to the next and I can't find that feeling of freedom or exploration in any of the current games on the market. Are there any specific technological limitations preventing this or is the effort required for creating a truly open world just not worth it at the momen [link] [comments]

What are the spiritual successors to Battleheart and Reaper? Posted: 02 Mar 2018 01:11 AM PST I thoroughly enjoyed both of these games. The charm and rpg elements of both have kept me playing years down the line. The art style of reaper is absolutely fantastic, it had a surprisingly compelling story and the controls are slicker than butter. So here's my question to android gaming. Are there any other games in the same combat+rpg genre that you'd recommend? +1 if it has fantastic graphics like reaper [link] [comments]

Best games to cast to TV and play? Posted: 02 Mar 2018 06:01 AM PST Sorry if the question sounds wierd. I want to play games which look good on a TV which has miracast. I find that games like Asphalt really look good on TV. [link] [comments]
Playing games through emulator are more enjoyable than native android games, at least for me. Posted: 01 Mar 2018 10:07 PM PST So as everybody already knows, there are not so many good Android games which you can buy once and enjoy it. Every game developer is now using the strategy where they provide the game for free along with tons of ads and in app purchases. Also, the games are not that fun to play and doesn't have good story line or they are online multiplayer games where you pay to win. Hence, I love to play games on PPSSPP. Yes, not all games work perfectly, but most are playable (At least on my OnePlus 3 with Vulkan as backend). It actually gives us huge library of great games. Besides that, DamonPS2 has great potential. I am sure soon we will be able to play PS2 games at 60FPS with the help of new Adreno 630 gpu and Vulkan as backend. At least for me, only these 2 emulators are sufficient to keep the mobile gaming (or should I say 'portable gaming) alive. I am not big fan of carrying a separate gaming console with me everywhere. What are your thoughts? [link] [comments]
Best android space shooter/galaxy games? Posted: 02 Mar 2018 01:16 AM PST Hi. I'm looking for suggestions on any good space shooter games. Something where you can upgrade your ship with new parts found and explore the galaxy. Not necessarily 3D (unless it's really good), but viewed from the top is perfectly fine. Suggestions?
