Reverse Engineering APK to replicate an API, need help with 'X-Request-Sign5' header Posted: 02 Mar 2018 06:40 PM PST I have been reverse engineering an APK in order to create a Desktop client for an app (just for fun to improve my analytical/programming skills). I have, however, hit a snag. Most requests sent to the server have 3 very important headers:
https://i.stack.imgur.com/bzcLW.png The https://i.stack.imgur.com/h07cs.png The Any help from someone more advanced than myself would be great! It's been a great learning experience so far but I have hit this road block. [link] [comments] |
Anyone familiar with this China/Hong Kong TV box FunTV? Posted: 02 Mar 2018 09:13 PM PST The box that contains this TV box says Android on it so I assume it is related to Android. My dad bought this thing and he's trying to get some Chinese TV channels. I don't know anything about TV boxes or that product. The website it provided on the box is http://funtv.hk but google warned it might be hacked. The tv box needs to be connected to the internet and I want to know if it's safe to use because I am not sure if this is some shit device that'll steal info or not. My dad bought it from a Chinatown. I googled "funtv box" but it doesn't show much except their facebook page, ebay page, Amazon page but it's not there anymore and I only seen it after pressing "cached". This might seem like I'm advertising this product but trust me I'm not. I just never seen this thing before but I don't trust these Chinese products and my dad buying it from Chinatown makes me uncomfortable. It may be perfectly fine but like I said I am not familiar with tv boxes and these Chinese products. I'm probably just paranoid though but I guess it don't hurt to ask. Are there any top brands in America, that doesn't have to be American made, that can provide Chinese channels? If so I'd like some recommendations [link] [comments] |
How to have new post notification for an individual subreddit Posted: 02 Mar 2018 08:58 PM PST I really like supporting r/suicidewatch but I am always 4 hours late. I would like to get a notification when a new post is made I guess ifttt could do it. Please share any suggestions [link] [comments] |

Where to find official, stock ROM for Moto G5s Plus? Posted: 02 Mar 2018 09:44 PM PST I unlocked my bootloader since I wanted to root the phone, but the TWRP Recovery did not work and I gave up. I just want to get rid of the message on boot, but most importantly get the updates without errors. I have searched far and wide for the stock, official ROM, but to no avail. Could someone help me, please? [link] [comments] |
Anyone use an OLED Samsung phone for 3+ years? How's the display holding up? Posted: 02 Mar 2018 02:55 PM PST I've been using my Nexus 4 for 5 years now, but I'm going to need a new phone soon. The S9 seems to have most of what I'm after, but I'm hesitant on buying a device with an OLED display due to degradation and burn-in. Is there anyone that has used a Samsung phone with an OLED display for 3 years or more? How's your display holding up? I heard Samsung makes some of the best OLEDs, but not sure if that only means consistency as far as blotching is concerned. I have owned a Playstation Vita with an OLED screen for 6 years that's held up well, but I hardly ever use it. I'll probably be using my phone for hours at a time every day. Edit: Judging by the early responses, it could just be luck of the draw. Only way to guarantee a display that will hold up is to choose a phone with an LCD. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Mar 2018 07:07 PM PST What are the best tools/libraries (Kotlin/Java) for working with packets? Is there something similar to Scapy for Python? I'm trying to get Round-Trip Times (RTT) between phones for triangulation purposes, but I think the tools to use would be those used for security, like what you would use to build Nmap, Shark for Root, or dSploit. I've also come across jpcap, and this traceroute library. I could also just try and run Python scripts, but I'd like to ask if there are much better options out there. Then there are also "networking" libraries like Fast Android Networking, Retrofit, Volley, OkHttp, etc., but I am not sure if they are what I'm looking for. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
using a metro pcs plan on a tmobile s9? Posted: 02 Mar 2018 07:01 PM PST So i was just wondering if I could use a metro pcs plan on a locked tmobile s9? I am pretty sure that metro pcs is actually a subset of tmobile so it would make sense that they would allow this but im not 100% sure. Google is giving some very mixed answers and I cant call customer support at this hour :( Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Is there a quick way to block multiple numbers? Posted: 02 Mar 2018 06:43 PM PST I've recently started getting daily group texts about some "job opportunity" with about 10 numbers involved in the group. Then I get "responses" from another group text saying things like "I'll be there for the meeting!!" that doesn't even involve the first number. The other numbers involved are usually different as well. Obviously a scam, at least very irritating. Is there some way to block all numbers from a group text at once? On a galaxy S8 if that matters. Posted: 02 Mar 2018 06:34 PM PST Hello guys I have a Chinese smartphone Mione R1 that has lollipop version of Android, I was looking if there's a new firmware, and I found a newer version of and for it, Android Marshmallow 6.0. So I've decided to download the firmware and flash it using SPD Tool. I've already installed all the drivers. The process of flashing the rom to my phone was going normal, when it got to the middle it stopped, then after awhile it showed me that the process have failed. I unplugged the phone and tried to turn it on, but it didn't want to turn on, even the logo that shows at start saying "Hello" doesn't show. I'm wondering if there's a solution for this problem, and hopefully you guys can share it with me. Thank you. [link] [comments] |
Work phone and personal phone different carriers, help me not carry 2 phones? Posted: 02 Mar 2018 06:27 PM PST I'm being given a Samsung galaxy S7 for work, permission to use it as my personal phone. It's through AT&T. My phone is an S8 through Verizon. I know I can forward calls to the work phone, and it's going to be on my Google account, but I don't know if or how I can get and receive my texts on the work phone. I am a mobile maintenance person, so carrying 2 phones is pretty much out of the question. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Mar 2018 08:33 PM PST How about if they're the same app but one is an older version? And if it doesn't work, does that mean there is some sort of identifier that tells the phone that the 2 apps are the same app even though they are different versions? Also, if 1 Play Store / 1 APK doesn't work, how about 2 APKs of the same app (whether same or different versions of that app)? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Mar 2018 08:34 AM PST So my work is implementing a BYOD policy and the Blackberry (former Good for Enterprise) framework. As I read the policy and app permissions, it if clear that my employer expects nearly full control over my device. Obviously, I think this is unreasonable. I must have the access granted by the BYOD policy, so I am trying to find the pros and cons of my choices. Will a separate user account limit their access to only that account? I already tried it out, and a big downside it that I won't receive personal text messages and such whenever I am actively using the work account. Ditto in reverse, no meeting notifications and such when on my personal account. What should I take into consideration and what would you do in this situation? [link] [comments] |
Using Alumni G Suite Account on Phone Posted: 02 Mar 2018 10:22 AM PST I recently got my alum.school.edu.ph email address and found out that it has unlimited storage! I plan to use it on Google Photos but not sure if it's possible. Has any of you used your student/alumni G Suite email on your phone? [link] [comments] |
What to do with the Verizon Samsung Galaxy E tablet? Posted: 02 Mar 2018 08:13 PM PST Hello! I'm not sure if this is the best place for this question, but it seems like the kind of community that would help. If I'm better off posting this somewhere else, please let me know! None the less, I was phone shopping back in January, and saw that Verizon (my current provider) had a special where you got a Galaxy S8 and a galaxy E tablet for cheap - I ran the numbers at the time, and even with fees, it saved me like $5 after two years to get both devices vs. just a phone, so naturally, I ran with it, and got a free tablet. Well, I've had the tablet for about 2 months now, and haven't really used it for anything. Its too large to carry in my pocket, so I don't have it on me most of the time. I've tried to use it at work, but I find its just easier to use my laptop for note taking than to have a dedicated device that I have to continually sync notes from. I'd love to use it for something, I just can't seem to find a use that one of my other devices doesn't already address. So, if you were essentially gifted a tablet, what would you use it for? Posted: 02 Mar 2018 06:14 PM PST ADB refuses to recognize the fact that my Moto E2 is plugged in to the computer, regardless what USB cable I use, or which USB port I plug it into. before my Samsung Galaxy Note 3's screen broke, it connected without me having to mess with developer options at all, but my Motorola is being decidedly more difficult about it. All I want to do is put some music onto the SD card that I copied from my Note 3 before the AMOLED screen completely oxidized from the inside out, but I feel like I'm jumping through hoops to achieve nothing here. details about the phone and computer: Phone is a Motorola Moto E 2nd Generation on AT&T, and computer is an HP ENVY-17 running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS "Xenial Xerus". Posted: 02 Mar 2018 06:09 PM PST I've been unable to find much of any help online because it seems like a specific problem. I went to bed and woke up to my phone saying all of my google accounts needed an action required, which was just logging in and it wouldn't allow me to. I would input everything right and it would load and then boot me to home screen and give no prompt as to anything going wrong. I've tried clearing caches, completely removing updates and disabling the google play stuff before restarting my phone and activiating it to try to log back in. I tried removing the accounts completely and adding them, but again it would go back to the add account screen with nothing having been done. The same happened for my reddit is fun app account, can't add an account so it doesn't seem to be a google issue. My snapchat/instagram/messenger is perfectly fine, but apart from that those are the only accounts I use that aren't working. It's incredibly inconvenient because of school and browsing reddit, so I hope anyone had an idea. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Recover app data from a formatted phone Posted: 02 Mar 2018 10:16 AM PST Hi, I recently formatted my Meizu M3 Note (Flyme 6, Android 5.1) to send it back to Amazon for a refund, only to discover that, unless you're a premium user, Dashlane (a password manager) doesn't backup your passwords on their servers, but stores them locally on your device. Obviously, I need them, so that's why I'm here. Is there any way of restoring (or at least try) an app and, most importantly, it's data? All I can seem to find is tools that recover photo, SMS, contacts and documents. That's not what I need. Thanks in advance to everyone willing to help. [link] [comments] |
Upgrading phone and looking for suggestions Posted: 02 Mar 2018 05:41 PM PST These are likely submitted all the time, and I apologize if they're getting old. I'm going to use some bonus money from work to upgrade my phone, and I'd like some suggestions. Verizon is the carrier, so it obviously has to work there, which I know limits some of my choices. That's ok, though. Current device: LG G5 (changed from a Nexus 6 2 weeks ago when the USB port died on my Nexus...) What I like about it: USB-C, fingerprint reader What I don't like: Audio is shit. Bluetooth, wired, or over USB in my car, it's awful. LG really crapped out on this one, which is unfortunate because the V20 which came out around the same time supposedly has fantastic audio. Battery life leaves much to be desired. Bluetooth in general is flaky as all hell (my fitbit keeps desyncing, for example). Phones I'm considering:
At least 2 of those have Oreo already (Pixel and Z2), which would be nice but is not the ultimate deciding factor. I would like: Battery to last longer than a gnat fart when browsing reddit (seems Relay for Reddit just kills my battery for some reason...maybe it's the app) USB C is a must Audio quality must be decent. Bluetooth headphones when I'm on my bike, USB audio (Android Auto) in my car, USB OTG to a headphone amp when I travel. Not expecting miracles, but I'd love for it to be closer or better than the Nexus and not the tinny sound out of the G5 that I have to EQ all to hell. Camera: I don't take a lot of pics, but the ones I do should look decent on my phone, or computer, or printed (we do a calendar with pics of the kids every year). I don't really game, other than Tapped Out and Solitaire. SD support would be nice (3 out of 4 on my list). More RAM would be better than less (probably). The ability to fit in a bike jersey pocket (Nexus 6 could...barely) would be a plus. Thinner bezels would be nice, but aren't a game breaker. I will see all these phones in person and play around before I make a final decision, but I wanted to get opinions from those that actually use any of the flagship Verizon phones. One final note: I hated the screen on the S7 Edge. If the Note 8 has that same wrap around quality that the S7E had, forget it. I can't tell if the "infinity screen" is that same thing or not, though. I kept activating other apps when I was putting it down and it drove me nuts. I think I returned it within 2 days. Posted: 02 Mar 2018 06:39 AM PST I saw a good deal on the nokia 8 but the bootloader is locked. Is there any news about the company and their unlocking plans? I think they said they would unlock them one phone at a time but has anything actually happend? Thx in advance [link] [comments] |
How pure is the Android experience on Sony's Xperia phones? Posted: 02 Mar 2018 09:19 AM PST |
Posted: 02 Mar 2018 10:46 AM PST My Oneplus 3 stopped accepting the pattern it made me reset less than an hour ago and in TWRP under install I'm stuck in an empty folder because there's no "up a level" button, so I can't manually flash anything. I'm going to search for a backup on my computer in the meantime, but any advice would be appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Mar 2018 10:46 AM PST So yeah... Pixel 2, 8.1 obviously. Unrooted. For the past few days, everything has been REALLY slow. Not like stuttering or anything, but major delays. Examples:
Any thoughts? I've cleared my Play Services cache and data to no avail, same for the relevant apps. [link] [comments] |
I thought we fixed the persistent notification problem Posted: 02 Mar 2018 04:22 PM PST I just upgraded to Oreo via LineageOS 15.1. I realize android is return to not let sneaky apps run in the background unseen, but I want these apps running in the background. Seen here my VPN and Tasker are running. I'm glad to know they are running but they don't need to be front and center. https://i.imgur.com/QXVbviu.png Not to mention my VPN notification is on the lock screen. What gives? I've done a fair share of googling to fix this and it doesn't look like there's a clean solution without third party apps. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
