Windows and Windows old folder taking up over 100gb Posted: 25 Feb 2018 10:29 AM PST So I can disk cleanup my windows old folder but what can I do about my regular windows folder taking nearly 50gb? Here is a link of my windirstat. I can go into specifics if that will help resolve this/give someone further information. [link] [comments] |
Are eBay/ 3rd party cheap office/ windows keys legit? Posted: 25 Feb 2018 06:18 PM PST Have heard a lot about cheap keys from eBay or other 3rd party websites. Keys at those websites look really cheap. However, am not sure whether these providers are legit. What's the experience of this community? [link] [comments] |

Eye comfort option or software Posted: 25 Feb 2018 02:47 PM PST Hi, i have an eye comfort settings on my android phone. It basically turns everything to a yellow/orange tone. It it supposed to reduce blue light and is supposedly better for your eyes. I wonder if there is some kind of option/software for windows 8 that would do the same. i already right-clicked on the desktop and tried to mess with my GC settings and didn't find anything. Internet issues with windows 10 Posted: 25 Feb 2018 07:03 PM PST Hi guys! I've been having some problems with my 2015 thinkpad t440 (not t440s) and it heavily involved my internet. I live in a house with three other people and none of their devices or any other of mine will experience this problem. Sometimes my laptop will jus "lose" the network and automatically disconnect randomly, sometimes without anything changing. When I open the network menu I won't see my internet network but when I put it on and off airplane mode it shows up again, just disconnected and forgotten so I have to put the password in. I had xfinity take a look at it the WiFi and they said it was perfectly fine, and I haven't had any issues on other devices, and after hours of trying solutions suggested by various sites, I figured I'd post here before going to windows themselves. Any ideas? I'm open to anything, this basically makes my laptop unusable... Cheers Defineorthodox [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Feb 2018 06:44 PM PST Friday night I ran the "shutdown and update" option, and in the morning I turned it on to find it would only loop at the mobo splash screen... 1 sec "Gigabyte", 6 sec black, repeat. Tried a BIOS recovery, but nothing seems wrong there. Also switched SATA ports to no avail. After about 100 boot attempts with me tinkering every dozen or so, it finally loaded into Windows 10 (idk what I did) so I got all my work done as fast as I could—thankfully all my docs are backed up to OneDrive. Now today the first boot attempt got into "finishing Windows Update" and it got to 100%, but after signing in it flashed between the desktop and a solid blue screen rapidly (about 2 sec cycle) where it was obviously reloading the icons and other UI elements. Not a monitor issue, I couldn't interact with anything. Had to reboot via hardware reset button, but the same thing happened again, except after about 30 seconds it gave me a green screen message and shut itself off. Now it's back to mobo splash boot cycle where it can't find any OS to load. I can't even get the Windows 10 repair/installation utility to load from a flash drive. It gets to the Windows logo, then goes black forever. If it we're the mobo, it wouldn't even load BIOS, right? That and the fact that this happened immediately after the most recent Insider update makes me think Microsoft owes me a new SSD. Any other ideas? [link] [comments] |
OS for an old laptop? (Compaq presario i3) Posted: 25 Feb 2018 03:14 AM PST I got the presario cq62105tu few years back. It has core i3 with 3gb ram with no expandable memory slot. It came preloaded with win 7 basic edition. Over time it became slow so has done a couple of os reinstall.. Currently running win7 ultimate edition. Here are some problems if you could help out. 1. The fan makes a lot of noise when running any applications ( I have tried cleaning the fan couple of times though) 2. Lag and slow start are major problems. Thinking of upgrading to another version of windows or maybe some other os but confused on which one to go for. And yes some maybe saying buy new one but I rather work on this because it does work... Even though not as new. [link] [comments] |
Is there a way to prevent applications from intercepting ALT+F4 command? Posted: 25 Feb 2018 02:03 PM PST So you can just close them outright without getting the stupid "are you sure you want to exit" prompt? [link] [comments] |
Is it normal that my Windows 7 laptop is taking up 2gb of ram? Posted: 25 Feb 2018 05:24 PM PST I read from people online about how their windows is running at less than 1 gb of ram but I can't get mine to go down below 2 gb. My specs are: HP Pavilion dv7 Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit 4gb of total RAM Intel Core i5-2520M 2.5 GHz Quad Core Radeon 6700M 1GB Also I've seen other people's computer spec screens like https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/406991512728109056/408066603067113483/unknown.png but I don't see it on my own spec screen. What does the "2.75GB Useable" part mean? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Feb 2018 07:07 AM PST So I have one physical drive divided into 2 partitions - C;D drive. My question is can I add more space to my C drive where Windows is located without reinstalling or formatting. Oh and I am also on Windows 7 [link] [comments] |
About the windows 10 fall update Posted: 25 Feb 2018 10:20 AM PST Is it just me or is windows 10 fall update more unstable? Until the main update I've never had a BSOD or random shutdowns, and now I get them at least once a week. Hell right now I'm on my phone from a BSOD from a service_error. And now that my computer is back booting up it's acting like an update??? Forced updates through blue screens? What? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Feb 2018 02:52 AM PST By the way, the device is an iPhone without stock apps because of missing root files. I cannot check the IP address by preference. I need the IP address to connect it with SSH. [link] [comments] |

Could anyone recommend a good WindowsOS-learning e-Book? Posted: 25 Feb 2018 02:59 PM PST I already learned Linux, but I'm getting struck to the toes when it comes to fixing something that is supposed to be easy, yet still can't get my head in the problem. I'd appreciate anyone who could contribute a good suggestion ot two. Cheers. [link] [comments] |
Why Updating My Dell Inspiron 3558 Scares Me... (PLEASE, PLEASE, HELP ME!!!) Posted: 25 Feb 2018 02:31 PM PST Computer: Dell Inspiron 15 (3558) How Long I've Had It: 1 Year My MAJOR Problem: Windows' Updates PLEASE READ ALL OF IT BEFORE COMMENTING! I NEED REAL HELP WITH THIS! I've had this issue since the very day the original Creators update was released. I'm panicking a bit at this point, as currently I'm getting prompted to update once again. I've looked literally all over for some sort of fix for this. I've been into the BIOS and looked around in there, I've used ISO files and tried using that, and I've even done commands that other users have suggested through a previous forum post i made regarding this issue. (I'll Have a link to the forum post I made below.) At this point im really trying hard not to give up and fix my computer. So far, this is what I've seen and done: Every single time I have the chance of getting onto my laptop, I always get the big box that says that I need to install security updates. This scares me after what happened EXTREMELY recently, and I really don't want to take another risk. When Windows automatically forces a restart because of how badly it needs updates, I get worried. every time it does, it tries installing (probably as of now) the Fall Creators Update and every time it tries, it fails. AND THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE THE DAY THE CREATORS UPDATE WAS RELEASED. No matter what kind of fix I try, it just WILL NOT UPDATE. I've talked with Dell and their suggestions were no help at all. I've seen this chart Dell has created that says they've been tested with Creators and Fall Creators Updates and have proven successful. My laptop IS on that list. SO i have no idea whats wrong with it. Last but not least, I need to address what EXACTLY happened the last time I updated (this is why I'm scared to update): Posted on my Discord Server "Here... I don't have a screen cap, but I'd love to because I was so scared... So my PC hates itself and won't let me update anything regarding it's own self that it has to offer. For example, I waited almost a whole year for the creators update to be working on it. But every single time.. it fails. I tried everything you could possible think of to get it working And one night... Which happens to be last night. I accidentally fell asleep with my PC on. It usually tries to force updates on itself, despite my computer not letting it happen. It tried again while I was asleep I woke up and saw the boot screen for it. The one for Dell computers. It said "restoring your previous version of Windows." It went off and the Dell logo came back. It was stuck in a boot loop. I look around online for answers And since none of them worked, I had to trust myself and find a way back. And... All day today Ive put in a bootable us with Windows 10. Searched for 2 hours on why it wouldn't show up. And then it wouldn't let me do alot with it. But thank God one thing I CAN DO is cmd. I took my terabyte and copied a lot of the major files to it. Then I kept trying and trying, and I got to the setup thing. It wouldn't let me install a new partion So I wondered if I had to format them like in virtual machines I panicked when I realized I formatted all but one. That system reserved one. Which made my even more scared once I got back into the cmd I typed c: It went STRAIGHT TO MY EXTERNAL TERABYTE I unplugged it. And no drives existed AT ALL So then i kept working on how to make use of what I had before >going into a melt down. I had the bootable USB. And something changed after deleteing those partions. It could see the USB. But in two places at once Legacy and UEFII tried booting it up in eufi mode despite the fourms all over the internet saying it can't read it that way. But guess what. It worked." So yes, I've Barely managed to save my system. but now I'm scared it could happen again. If an Update that I've REALLY wanted managed to do THIS, I'm making sure I DO SOMETHING about it. I cant buy a new computer because my family and I don't have the money. and if i did, its a terabyte of storage gone to waste. A $500 laptop would legitimately be worthless! So please. If ANY of you guys know what to do.... I highly appreciate it.... i just hope I don't go through that again. Install drivers from Winfows 7 on vista? Posted: 25 Feb 2018 09:29 AM PST I know it's an odd question, who would want to try and get Vista to work in this day and age, but as far as I know Windows 7 is just rebranded Vista. So it should theoretically work, right? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Feb 2018 01:03 PM PST I've spent about an hour trying to find this file because bluetooth won't start without it on windows 7. i finally got a driver that works and it says "windows cannot find as0.exe." asked about it on microsoft community, noone even bothered to answer or help. searched on google and just a bunch of stupid fake sites. all i need is the file so i can paste it where it needs to go. does anyone know how i can EASILY GET THIS FILE?
