Need Help With My Gaming PC Build Posted: 26 Feb 2018 06:39 PM PST I am in the process of upgrading my computer and i just bought two new parts for my build. An MSI Gaming X Gtx 1080 Ti, and a G3 750w psu from evga. My current specs are... (CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 1600x) (Motherboard - Asus b350 Gaming motherboard AM4) (Ram - 16GB ddr4 2400mhz ram from crucial) (Storage - 1TB HDD from western digital) (Video Card - MSI Gaming X GTX 1080 Ti) (Case - Thermaltake Soprano) (PSU - EVGA G3 750W gold) So i built this on pc part picker and had no issues or incompatibility's. But some of my friends are saying that " You cant just slap together some cheap crap with a 1080ti" and i asked him why but he wont reply and i just want a professionals view or opinion on why he may or may not be true with his statement. Thank You [link] [comments] |
My TV never goes to the channel I input? Posted: 26 Feb 2018 07:01 PM PST Whenever I type in a channel on the tv, it always goes somewhere else: If I type in 4, it will show a 4 in the top right corner of the screen (meaning the remote works), but then ALWAYS go to channel 14. But if I type in 14, it goes to 77. I have no idea what to do at this point. What could be wrong with it? I've emailed Insignia and they've been absolutely no help. I've reset the tv, tried different cable hookups, and done countless channel searches, to no avail. Any tv experts out there? [link] [comments] |
The battery is acting weird... Posted: 27 Feb 2018 02:45 AM PST It shows up on my computer as 100% and when its empty (still showing 100%) will just shut off without warning. I only noticed this a while ago so I already said the battery was working on ebay (yea stupid I know) but is there a way to reset the capacity or is it a sensor/hardware fault? [link] [comments] |
Anyone have a clue what I should do with this screen? Posted: 27 Feb 2018 12:27 AM PST link So my PC froze when I came back to it, did a hard reset and this is what I'm greeted with. Completely freezes at this point and I can't do anything. Just blue screened as I'm typing this lol. After another restart before it brought me to a windows troubleshooting, what looked like a safe mode type deal, talking about formatting windows and rolling back to a previous version. Yeah now it's doing it again as I type. "Preparing automatic repair" "your PC did not start correctly" Any help please? Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
Keyboard and Mouse work in BIOS but not windows 10? Posted: 26 Feb 2018 09:06 PM PST I've had this problem happen once before and i thought nothing of it. The keyboard and mouse work perfectly fine in other computers. The motherboard is an msi h81m-p33 Basically, I left my computer unplugged for a while when I was on vacation. I came back and booted it up, the keyboard lights came on perfectly fine and so does the mouse light. The when the computer gets past the BIOS screen and into the windows screen the mouse and keyboard lights go dark and are no longer recognized.. This is extremely frustrating especially since I can't even get into my computer to do anything. Any ideas? : / EDIT: Someone reccomended changing my boot from UEFI + LEGACY to just regular UEFI I'll try it when I get back to the machine can anyone tell me what this does? [link] [comments] |
iPhone 5s still says "searching" and not No Sim when I remove the SIM card Posted: 27 Feb 2018 12:42 AM PST Since yesterday my iPhone 5 has been saying "searching" in the upper left hand corner. Ive already tried toggling the airplane mode on and off again. I've also reset my network setting, however, I've realized that when I remove my SIM card it still says "searching" and my wifi symbol is still there. Shouldn't it say No Sim when I remove the card?? Can anyone help me solve this issue? Or give me an idea of what is wrong with my phone. [link] [comments] |
Asus ux330ua trackpad is wonky Posted: 27 Feb 2018 03:31 AM PST Note: I bought this 3 days ago as a "like new" used product from Amazon Warehouse with a Prime option. Basically, the touchpad sometimes works excellently (accurate clicking, good scrolling, good Windows 10 gesture control). Usually this happens after I shut down the computer, or start using it. About 20 or 30 minutes into using it though, the pointer just starts moving by itself, and when I use it, it won't accurately point to anything. The scrolling and Windows 10 gestures just stop working effectively, and become wonky. I'm not sure what to do. Is this a hardware issue? How can it be if it works for some time, but then all of a sudden stops working? Can I use my 30 day Amazon return to return it for a refund and get a new product? [link] [comments] |
GPU missing from device manager Posted: 26 Feb 2018 04:12 PM PST Yesterday I had a blue screen saying nvlddmkm stopped working or something like that on my surfacebook 2. Today, while trying to update my graphics drivers I found out that my GeForce GTX 1050 driver disappeard from my device manager. I've tried uninstalling everything nvidia related in the control panel and reinstalling manually but it says device incompatible. Help please. Update: When I take off the screen and put it back on the keyboard the driver appears but i cant update it and it gives me a code 32 [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Feb 2018 06:44 PM PST Running Win 10... I typically leave my system on all the time. Turned it off over the weekend. When I checked it again, it was on and at the BIOS screen. Long story short, it seems my OS SSD is dead. My data drive is still visible, but I've had no luck getting my SSD to reappear in BIOS (tried different SATA ports, power, etc.). I created a win recovery USB (and tried Kyhi's ISO) but all I've been able to reach so far is the win logo and spinning dots. Edit: I was finally able to reach the recovery screen with the Win Recovery, but it didn't give me any workable options. I'm going to see if I can get Kyhi's ISO to work.. perhaps I'm formatting the drive wrong. The ISO forces NTFS. I realize I'll likely need to buy another SSD, but I was under the assumption the recovery USB should get me into the Windows environment (I'd like to run diagnostics on the SSD). Am I mistaken, or is it possible there's another issue at play? [link] [comments] |

External HDD needs to be unplugged/plugged to be recognised on each boot Posted: 27 Feb 2018 03:25 AM PST Hello all, i've been having an issue since having to update my windows 7 to 10 a few months back with my external Samsung 1TB USB HDD. Each time the PC is booted I have to unplug the device and reconnect for it to be found and work as it should. I've recently replaced the drive and have the same issue with the new drive. On top of this i've also tried multiple USB ports with the same issue. Is there anything else that could be causing this? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 26 Feb 2018 07:36 PM PST I ran adwCealer and it told me I had 2 things called mail.RU that were needing to be deleted. So I did that. But now, it's still happening even though the program says it can't find anything after the cleaning. Where can I find the issue and stop this? [link] [comments] |
Raid 1 degraded on file server - how to fix Posted: 27 Feb 2018 03:01 AM PST tl;dr Windows server degraded non OS hardware raid 1 after disconnecting them. Disks are healthy. Looking on tips on how to proceed to fix this. Hello. I've never really worked with Raid much aside from creating software striped raids in Windows 7 to test how it works. Now I've got a Windows server 2008 file server that has a dedicated raid controller card. It was really old and in need of a clean up and potential upgrade, so I turned it off, cleaned it up, removed all drives and wrote down their models, capacities, how they are configured and which sata ports they are connected to. Then reassembled it back just as it was before and turned it on. Thing is, I didn't use a physical monitor for it at first, it never had one, just used RDP. After about two minutes of being unable to ping it I connected a monitor and saw a huge amount of lines flying around the screen, saying "Deleting corrupt attribute record (128, "") from file record segment 234123." GIF: https://i.imgur.com/5F8LxFP.gifv (ignore the compression artifacts) None of those words sounded friendly in the situation so I panicked and hard shut down the PC holding the power button. After plugging in a keyboard I started it up again and it booted successfully. But in disk management it shows up two separate mirrored drives where a single raid array used to be. I can access both individually and they aren't mirroring anymore. When rebooting I used ctrl+A hotkey to get into the raid card configuration screen. At first when it starts up it says both drives are healthy and connected. Manage drives option tells me the array is degraded and one of the drives is missing. When browsing other menus both drives still appear. Pics: https://i.imgur.com/y6KnOzE.jpg https://i.imgur.com/dVAureI.jpg https://i.imgur.com/ZCs4qHE.jpg What would be the correct and safe procedure to fix this and rebuild the array without losing data? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Feb 2018 02:55 AM PST I have a Zotac GTX980. (I noticed that my GPU fans started to rattle lately.) This morning, I noticed a regular noise from the fans *while the machine was powered off. I checked, and the GPU fans span up every few seconds, immediately stopping again. It seems that both of them are not synced. I unplugged the power and switched off the AC, but the fans kept spinning. I unplugged HDMI and now the fans stopped spinning.
The machine is running Win 7 (so Windows GPU drivers). The screen is a LG MU67. It's powered on; my other (running) machine is plugged into the screen on the other HDMI port. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Feb 2018 02:36 PM PST I have a Chromebook that I use for web browsing. This evening it it started to behave a bit strangly. The word "hello" started to appear in all search fields and I can not delete it. Have tried googling it with no success. [link] [comments] |
Windows 10 Fall Creator's update disables... this select quirk (side note: what is this called?) Posted: 27 Feb 2018 02:30 AM PST So to run a long story short Fall Creator's update ruins one incredibly tiny but important to me feature that drives me up a wall with its removal to the point of almost ruining this laptop. The ability to select things in list view with the selection box essentially by the length of file name. That is to say, when multi-selecting, items with longer filenames will be selected, and shorter filenames will not, when using a box to select things. I've attached an image below of what I mean. My question is: on the latest version of Windows 10, is there any way, third party or otherwise, to re-enable this behavior? It's literally the only thing stopping me from keeping windows update on. As a side note, I know this behavior has a name as I've searched it up before but I can't for the life of me remember what that name is. If anyone here knows, I'd love to know so I can do my own digging if things fall up short. https://i.imgur.com/498r2fB.png Note that only certain items are selected, whereas in the windows 10 fall creator's update it treats the entire line as the bounding box for selecting things, rather than the physical length of the filename. Seems minor, I know, but I use it so much that I can't work without it. [link] [comments] |
Asus AiMesh with LAN and WAN support? Posted: 27 Feb 2018 02:29 AM PST I'm currently using a RT-AC68U, DIR-865L and a RT-AC88U(main). my current setup is the two "nodes" connect to the main router directly, and running on a LAN connection and AP mode for RT-AC68U. I was reading about the AiMesh, and it's apparent benefits. So I was wondering if I could use my current setup without changing much. the D-link router is mostly just a slave wifi router to fill the dead spot. Behind the RT-AC68U is the main PC I'm using. Any way to alternate a buttons function on each button press/mouse click? Posted: 26 Feb 2018 08:06 PM PST So I am trying to perform the following :- Each time I press either the same button say 2. I want it to press 2 once, then the next time I press it I want it to register as if the button 1 is being pressed. Then 2 then 1. So for 4 repeated button presses of the button 2 on my keyboard, I should see the following output :- 2,1,2,1 Does anyone understand what this kind of function would be called (so I can ask for better help) and or how I can go about programming this? If this alternation could be done on a mouse click that would be even better, that's where I am trying to perform it. I have assigned a mouse button to 2. If I click it once I get 2, next time 1 next time 2 and so on forever. [link] [comments] |
USB Stick won't show full storage Win7 Posted: 26 Feb 2018 06:30 PM PST I have a Verbatim 8GB Store'n'Go usb stick that is only letting me see and use ~780MB of storage. I've been slowly battling to recover the drive for a year and have run out of ideas. I've tried reformating it through explorer, re-partitioning through diskpart, re-partitioning through bootice, and probably other tools I cannot recall and had no luck. Here are a few screenshots from my results. I've browsed many forums without solutions. Any idea how I could possibly recover this drive to it's factory settings and storage capacity? Background: I used this drive many years ago in college for projects (mainly Mac OS) and afterwards reformated and once used it for a transfer of xbox data. Since then I haven't used it for storage but I'm fairly certain I removed the xbox data and re-formated it for storage. I may have attempted making a boot disk with rufus at some point on it but I don't think I ever got around to actually trying. Either way, the storage is missing on all systems. When finding the link I noticed it has a "password security feature" available for download? I don't recall ever using such a feature and have never been prompted for a password. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Feb 2018 01:57 AM PST Having issues with my computer but I have never owned a DOS Computer before. If I reset it, do I need to reinstall it using the (edit Windows 10) disk I was given with it? My computer doesn't have a disk drive so this won't be immediately possible. Anyway to reset it to factory settings with the operating system included? Cheers! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Feb 2018 01:56 AM PST Looking for a good power bank. I've done some searching already and a lot of people recommend an anker one. Does this still hold true this day? What's a second best solution if I cant get it? [link] [comments] |
Huge ping spikes every 10-15 seconds, lasting 1-2 seconds. Posted: 27 Feb 2018 01:52 AM PST Hi everyone, So most of the information is gaming (path of exile) related, but i'm having trouble getting any response from anyone regarding these issues. So I need to know if the problem is caused on my end, or theirs. While these ping spikes might not seem so severe, it causes the game to be unresponsive for several seconds which means instant death. I´ve been having issues for about 2 weeks now where i get 300 or higher ping spikes while playing, these spikes come every 10-15 seconds. I'm on a wired connection, have tried power cycling.etc but nothing seems to fix it. I´ve attached a MTR log, though I'm not so sure what I´m looking at. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks. The MTR is me looking at the connection between my location and Frankfurt gateway, however I get these big spikes no matter which gateway i connect to. https://pastebin.com/4Hb2Yum2 never previously had any issues [link] [comments] |
