    Amazon Warehouse Deal

    Posted: 15 Feb 2018 11:09 AM PST

I'm looking to buy the new Razer Blade 14. Buying it brand new is ~£2000 but I was looking on Amazon Warehouse Deals, and I found one in "like new" condition for ~75% of the original price. It seems like a great deal, but I'm wary of the warehouse deals as I've never used it before. Does anyone have any experience? Would it be worth it?

Suggest a case for hP EliteBook 8570p?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2018 11:34 AM PST

I need a case for my EliteBook, preferably water proof. I am in Canada if that matters. Can anyone suggest a decent case? I am going to be travelling a fair bit with this thing.

Reviews on the ASUS ZenBook Flip UX461UN? I can barely find any.

    Posted: 15 Feb 2018 07:11 AM PST

I realise it's pretty new but there usually are tons of benchmarks & reviews when laptops like this come out. Am I just bad at searching? Maybe one of you guys happen to own one?

    Dell Latitude 7490 or 7390?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2018 01:25 PM PST

I hope this is the right place to post this sort of request/query.

Where I work we are being given new laptops, but our IT are giving us a choice between the Latitude 7490 and 7390.

As far as I can see they look basically the same apart from the screen size. We haven't been given too much info by our IT either, only that the 7490 will have 14" touch screens and the 7390 will have 13.3" non-touch screen. Also that the 7490 is slightly heavier than the 7390. I am not bothered by touchscreens as I despise fingerprints and marks on screens!

I am studying as part of my work and so will be carrying my laptop with me to and from work for at least the next year and a 1/2 so I am drawn towards the slightly lighter 7390. The smaller screen isn't an issue at work as we plug into screens, but when i'm studying at home I'm wondering if i will appreciate the extra 0.7".

My work isn't particularly demanding (for the laptop) either. Mostly emails, spreadsheets, and specific accountancy software so I'm sure either will be able to cope with ease! Occasionally I have to work out of the office on site, and so I guess a bigger battery capacity might be useful.

Is there any reason I should be swayed one way or the other? I'm honestly a little confused why we are being given the choice given how similar they appear. If we don't specify we will be ordered the 7490 as standard. I'm sure I'll be happy either way (it's a massive upgrade from my current heavy, ancient, laptop I currently have to use - and will be much lighter) but would appreciate any opinions.

    Thanks.

    Dell Xps 13 9360 vs dell xps 13 9370

    Posted: 15 Feb 2018 01:23 PM PST

I can't decide between the Dell Xps 13 9360 and 9370. My main complication is that it's more expensive to buy the 9370, because it has to be bought through their webside, as appose to the 9360, which I can buy at my work. The main question is whether the 8th gen core in the 9370 is much better than the 7th gen core in the 9360. I mostly need it for school and editing videos/pictures, when I'm not at home.

Bonus: Is it more worth buying the i5 over the i7 version?
    Prices: XPS 13 9360 I5: 9 799 dkk (1 644$) (has Windows pro) XPS 13 9360 I7: 11 999 dkk (2 014$) (has Windows pro)

    XPS 13 9370 I5: 11 240 dkk (1 886$) (has Windows Home) XPS 13 9370 I7: 12040 dkk (2 020$) (has Windows Home)

    • Total budget and country of purchase: I'll be buying in Denmark, and my total budget is max 13 000dkk (2 182$)

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. 2 in 1 is not important, I have an Ipad.

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? not much, since the two pc's are nearly alike

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows obviously

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. not over 14", I don't need a big pc

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. I'm using AE and PS to edit

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? I game to some extend, and running Overwatch would be nice, but not the main factor

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? none

Microsoft Surface Book 2 i7 8GB ram 256 harddrive Is it worth it? It's $2000 which I am fine with . But the next upgrade is i7 16GB 500GB. But it's $500 more so I was just wondering is it even worth it for $2000 with 8GB? I'm fine with 256 harddrive space but is it worth it with 8GB???

    linux battery duration

    Posted: 15 Feb 2018 03:46 AM PST

I used to be a Linux user and after few years I am going back to it. I remember battery duration was an issue and I am reading a lot of posts here of people complaining about battery duration even with high end laptops like Dell XPS on Linux. I wanted to ask to Linux laptop users if using a power management linux tool (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Power_management#Userspace_tools) gets battery life comparable (or better?) than windows

    Laptop Suggestions/Questions

    Posted: 14 Feb 2018 02:50 PM PST

I'm looking to buy a new laptop (I'm switching over from a desktop) and I'm wondering a few things: Which laptop companies are the "best"? I've been looking into Lenovo & Samsung, I have had Dell & HP products in the past and want to avoid them at this point. My budget is around $700-900. A graphics chip would be nice but I don't need anything high tech. Also is a SSD that much different, its seems like a waste of money at this point (especially when you can get a 2 TB HD for the price of a 256 or 512gb SSD). Sorry for the ramblings, any help would be greatful!

if i have a 4K display on my laptop, would it be possible to switch resolutions without distortion?

    Posted: 14 Feb 2018 05:15 PM PST

If I am using a laptop with a display of for example, 3840x2160. Would I be able to switch to lower resolutions such as 1080p or is it stuck at 4k for everything? For things such as gaming where 4k wouldn't be the smoothest. Wouldn't the screen be either minimized or enlarged though if you change it?

    Thanks in advance.
