I made an app that fixes a major annoyance of modded Google Camera

    Posted: 19 Feb 2018 05:36 AM PST

I love taking portrait photos on Google Camera app. But non-Pixel users like me can only use the modded version of Google Camera and one major annoyance is that it takes portrait photos only in burst mode. You then need to open gallery, find the sub-folder which it created for burst mode, copy the portrait image and delete the rest. And you have to do this every time you take a portrait photo.

With GCam Tool, all this happens in the background. After you take a photo with Google Camera, you will find it in your camera roll when you open Gallery. You can:

    • Choose source and destination folders
    • Move portrait or regular or both photos
    • Delete sub-folders created by Google Camera every time

By default the app copies photos to your photo gallery. If you buy the $1 upgrade, it also deletes the files and sub-folders (thereby actually moving the photos instead of copying).

Your upgrade will help an indie developer like me survive. Please spread the word and let me know your thoughts.

[DEV] Improve Your Personal Behavior and Mood with iEvolve App to Defeat The Darkness Within

    Posted: 19 Feb 2018 08:27 AM PST

    Hi guys,

Just wanted to inform that found a new great app called iEvolve - Defeat The Darkness Within. The main purpose of the app is is to help you recognize the darkness within you, so that you may manage it, and not let it control you.

I must emphasize that the purpose of this app is to help you in recognizing the dark aspects within you and get control over it, because the less aware you are of the negative aspects of your self, the greater is the influence on your actions. As you become more aware and more in control, then the positive aspects can start liberates within you. This whole process may not be pleasant on the beginning, so patience is required in order to enjoy the benefits at the end of it.

I hope this app helps you better understand yourself by monitoring your stream of consciousness, and through that knowledge, increases your capacity to understand everyone else as well.

Hope you like it.. Would love to hear your feedback.

Removing VPN icon from status bar without root?

    Posted: 19 Feb 2018 05:05 AM PST

I recently installed stopAD on my phone after doing some research on the internet. The app is pretty lightweight and works well, but it pops up the key symbol in the right of my status bar showing that my phone is connected to a VPN. Is there a way to remove this notification from the status bar? Or are there similar apps which have the same functionality without the notification?

[DEV] I'm giving away 500 promo codes for my new Android app

    Posted: 19 Feb 2018 10:11 AM PST

    Hi guys!

I recently developed this app called Fivey and now I would like to give you some promo codes for free.

In short, Fivey is an app that will hopefully help some of you learn French (or improve it if you already know the basics).

Basically, Fivey is an app that consists of the 5000 most common French words (with expressions). I put all the words on flashcards and each flashcard includes one French word and one expression. You can click on the card to see the translation. No internet connection is required.

    Link to the app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fivey.french

I understand that not everyone here is interested in learning French, but if you are than comment below and I will DM you a promo code.

    Thank you!

HOW TO USE PROMO CODE: 1. Open the Google Play Store app. 2. Tap Menu Redeem. 3. Enter your code. 4. Tap Redeem.

[DEV] Ride-share drivers! This app might help you out!

    Posted: 18 Feb 2018 03:50 PM PST

I'm an aspiring app developer and I made this app called RideTrack. It's a mileage and salary/expenses tracker. I'm a part time Uber driver myself and so I use it daily but I wanted to see if I could get feedback on how to make it better.

There's no ads or "pro" version BS as I didn't make it to make money, I simply want to gain more experience.

I would be happy to add in any features that would be helpful for you guys.

    Here's the link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.diazapps.ridetrack&hl=en

What are some companies with worthwhile apps?

    Posted: 19 Feb 2018 06:05 AM PST

I'm talking more in terms of large companies, like Fandango. I'm looking for apps for companies we all already know but just probably wouldn't have thought to download. I wouldn't have thought to download Fandango if I hadn't gone to the movies the other night.

[request] Anyone know of a construction or service checklist app that allows you to import from a spreadsheet or Google sheet?

    Posted: 19 Feb 2018 10:01 AM PST

I am moving into a newly created position and as such am looking for an app to handle my work and safety inspections as well as other custom checklists. I have a paid copy of OnSite Checklist, which I got free on sale and heard about from Android Police. It's pretty nice, I'll admit. But creating whole checklists on the phone is a bit tedious. I'd have a faster go of it if I could create a template in a spreadsheet and import it.

Has anyone heard of an app that does that?

Any music player that can do settings backup on Google Drive or Dropbox (or anywhere else)?

    Posted: 19 Feb 2018 06:12 AM PST

I'm currently using Shuttle+ and the one thing I don't like is that you can't make backup of playlists and settings. I'd like to know if there is any decent music player that offers this function? I use multiple phones and I switch between them sometimes.

Also because of an update a few months ago of the app I lost all my playlists. The developer apologized for it, but I'd still like to keep efforts to a minimal.

Does Black Player have a similar function? Or does any other music app offer this. I thank you for the effort. I just prefer a simple and clean interface (customization and equalizer is a plus, but I mainly use it with Bluetooth so equalizers don't necessarily improve music quality).

messenger lite version to hide my online presence/status and open facebook links?

    Posted: 19 Feb 2018 09:33 AM PST

hi, I was using latest messenger lite version until I received a facebook link and found this:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/androidapps/comments/722qnb/messenger_lite_cant_open_links/

I downloaded 7.0.0.9.280, which works pretty good (and opens facebook links) but today I found this:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/5rm92t/facebook_messenger_lite_41_brings_many_new/

but I'm not able to find hide online presence in 7.0.0.9.280, I downloaded 4.1 but it won't let me use it, telling me I have to update, I tried with 5 and 6 with no luck too,

so, does anyone know a version that accomplishes both of the above (hides online presence/status & opens facebook links?)

Manage a million open tabs on Firefox

    Posted: 19 Feb 2018 09:20 AM PST

I really like OneTab and use it like crazy on my PC, but I can't get it to work on Android. I have a million open tabs and right now if they get out of hand I just take a screencapture of them like a bozo. Is there a decent extension/add-on (what's the difference?) that I can use with Firefox?

Using Version 58.0.2 on a Samsung Tab A if that matters. Thanks for reading!

    Useless screencapture.

Fridge Freezer Pantry Manager with good database?

    Posted: 18 Feb 2018 10:40 PM PST

Looking for something that tracks what's in my fridge, freezer and pantry with their expiry date. Ideally, I would be able to scan it and then choose to have it in fridge freezer or pantry. I tried grocery king but it doesn't recognise half the things in my pantry (maybe because Australian products) [side question, is there an open database of products, something as impressive as MyFitnessPal?].

[DEV] Bitfortip: An app where you tip people bitcoin to search for you. Design wise it looks like Instagram.

    Posted: 19 Feb 2018 09:13 AM PST

    Explainer video for the app!

    Android download link: GooglePlay!

The idea came to me when I could find a favorite t-shirt of mine that wore out with the years and I was willing to tip someone to search it for me.

Once you create an account a bitcoin address is generated where you can then deposit some funds to post an inquiry on the platform. Minimum amount required is 0.0001 BTC roughly 10 cents.

    Some use case examples :

Find an item (i.e., a dress) that you may have seen in a magazine or on a website (such as Pinterest or Instagram). If you don't know where to buy online, you can upload a photo and ask other Bitfortip members to search for it online to win a bitcoin reward.
