[help] Setting up alarm volumes/ringers for certain times with "Do not disturb" Posted: 22 Feb 2018 05:16 PM PST Hey all, I am struggling to work out how the auto scheduler for "do not disturb" works. I want to have my alarms/alerts at a high volume from 7am to 10pm, after which I want them to be vibrate only, with exception to the weekends which can be longer. How would I set this up? what does the "in progress" window do? Posted: 22 Feb 2018 05:12 PM PST so it is 2 am here and I was fucking around with my phone when a little window (Android 7 style) with a loading circle popped up for a couple seconds, saying "in progress" nothing else happened but I did notice that my location services were automatically activated. noted that I do not have automatic software updates Enabled on my phone, what could have that window been? any idea? thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Feb 2018 06:32 PM PST Good evening! I have a non-rooted Asus Zenfone 3 that has recently been updated to oreo (official rom, ZenUI). One of the first things I noticed is the change in screenshots. THEY SUCK (sorry, needed to vent). I would like to ask for help with this issue: Now, whenever I take a screenshot, a "floating menu" appears, letting me share, edit or create a long screenshot, and when that happens: 1- For about 3-5 seconds the app itself (behind the menu, the one I was using) won't accept any touch input (all touch input seems to be captured by the screenshot menu until it finishes its job) 2- I can't take another screenshot until those seconds have passed, nor do anything else 3- The floating menu itself is annoying. This is a huge problem for me, because i play Guitar Hero-like games and sometimes I want to take a screenshot of the video. I used to do that and lose a few notes (1 second), but now I instantly lose the whole song (3-5 seconds not playing = game over). I also can't take two screenshots of things happening relatively close to each other. Is there any way to revert the screenshot function, or am I forced to live with these unbereably slow screenshots? [link] [comments] |
Android Messages Notification still appears in status bar after replied to via quick reply Posted: 22 Feb 2018 06:05 PM PST Don't know why the notification won't go away after I've responded to a message. The icon is still in the status bar and when I swipe down to view the notification, it shows my reply. Other text message apps like Textra or Whatsapp or telegram notifications usually go away after responding. I'm on an S8 on nougat if that makes any difference. Anyone have this issue? Posted: 22 Feb 2018 08:00 PM PST What's the difference between all the Google messenger apps? I can video call, voice chat and text chat on hangouts, what the point of the others? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Feb 2018 07:31 PM PST I'd there a way to turn off Google Assistant, I already have it turned off but anytime I put in my earbuds it will ask me constantly if I want to turn it on. Is there anything I can do to make it stop this frustrating behavior? I can't listen to music or a podcast without being interrupted every 2 minutes. It's so fucking annoying and I don't have the ability to buy more earbuds of a different type because I'm a firefighter and paramedic and I use them at work which means I need stuff that can be replaced very cheaply. So please help, I hate Google Assistant, it keeps asking if I want to turn it on when I've already turned it off, I don't know what else to do but I'm about to give up on Android over this issue :( [link] [comments] |

Recovering data from dead Android phone Posted: 22 Feb 2018 07:26 PM PST To make long story short Motorola Moto X Pure is dead. I opened it up and one IC is warm to touch even if battery is disconnected. I'm betting on that IC havening a short. Phone has many pictures and videos that wife wants to recover. Is there a way to get that info off the phone? Perhaps maybe there is a way to recover pics and videos that are on SD card? [link] [comments] |
Connections to wifi become disabled Posted: 22 Feb 2018 03:30 PM PST I have an LG G6 which I have set to connect to wifi whenever a good connection is in range rather than using my Verizon plan data. The last few months I have noticed that I am in range of wifi networks but my phone is not connecting to them. When I go into the settings they are labeled as disabled. I am able to manually connect with these networks when I click on them and hold down connect. This happens not only with wifi for businesses and Xfinity public wifi but also with my home wife. Other times the phone seamlessly connects and uses the wifi rather than my phone data. I have changed my phone setting so that it does not automatically connect to wifi then changed it back so that it does automatically connect. I have also told the phone to forget those wife connections and then re-entered them but they still periodically come up as disabled. It does not happen all of the time and I cannot find a pattern to it. Any suggestions? [link] [comments] |
LG V20 went for a swim. looking for recommendations. Posted: 22 Feb 2018 10:26 AM PST Trying to be the smartest I can with my money. The phone currently turns on and I can navigate the menus but the screen is very dark. It is still under warranty from July of last year. Originally spent $379+tax and shipping on newegg. I figure I have a few options:
EDIT: now discovered that condensation got under the camera lens cover so I can't take any more pictures. also, it doesn't seem to be charging normally. connects and disconnects repeatedly. Recommendations? [link] [comments] |
Does rooting an android phone increase it's external card size limit ? Posted: 22 Feb 2018 03:10 PM PST I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy Y Duo Pro which by default can read upto 32 GB external SD Card. I want to know whether my rooted phone can read a bigger sd card (64/128GB).... Only then I'll purchase it... [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Feb 2018 02:20 PM PST One video is one minute the other is two minutes. How am I not able to text or at the very least email a one minute video? Sorry I am completely technologically challenged and after googling it seems like the only alternative is to upload it to a private account on YouTube or something and send a link. Is this true? Posted: 22 Feb 2018 09:44 PM PST Also, my S3's screen brightness is not that great, and gets quite hard to use outdoors, even if the sun is not extremely bright. So, is the screen brightness of the S5 better? I cannot go for latest phones like the S7, due to budget constraints. [link] [comments] |
Hiding Banner Notifications At Night Posted: 22 Feb 2018 09:11 PM PST In my profession I have clients email me sometimes in the middle of the night. I know how to silence the notification sounds but I would like to hide all visual notifications at the top of the screen at night. I often check the time on my phone throughout the night but when I notice the Outlook icon, I end up looking at the notification and then I can't go back to sleep. I'd rather not see any notifications at all at night but have them on during the day. Suggestions? Looked for apps, settings, etc. But everyone seems to only talk about turning off sounds. Thanks! Random toast notification "couldn't start image analysis" Posted: 22 Feb 2018 02:59 PM PST Just had this pop up randomly on my Galaxy S8 on the latest Oreo beta on T-Mobile. Any idea what would have generated that message, or have you seen it before with any apps? [link] [comments] |
Typing Lag *Only* On Reddit/Forums Posted: 22 Feb 2018 08:40 PM PST I get a bizarre typing lag where the phone can't keep up with my typing and won't accept new characters or vibrate when pressing the keyboard. It will freeze for 3-5 seconds then everything will catch up. If I keep typing it will lag again several seconds later. HTC One M9. Android OS and Chrome are both completely up to date. All programs, even intensive games run great and typing works perfectly in any Chrome field except forum text boxes. I've tried turning off vibration, turning off spell check/ predictive text, and even changed from the HTC default keyboard to Gboard. I'm thinking it's a Chrome issue/setting since it's so specific to forum text boxes in chrome. Thanks for any ideas you might have! [link] [comments] |
S6 Active close to storage capacity and won't stop telling me about it! Posted: 22 Feb 2018 02:41 PM PST My phone only has 32gbs and I'm pretty close to being full. It doesn't bother me, I have games and stuff I can delete if I want to. What does bother the hell out of me is every time my phone gets over 31 gbs, this notification pops up and can't be pushed away. If I swipe it off it comes back in about 3 seconds. In the app settings or whatever you call it, you can't turn off notifications from it either. Also annoying, is even though I have auto updates turned off, my phone constantly seems to take up more space with something. I may download a picture or two a day or something, but I've already deleted stuff to get below the 31gb mark 3 times this week. It's driving me crazy. I just want to get this damn notification off Thanks [link] [comments] |

Is there any root-less system wide adblockers yet? Is Magisk safe? Posted: 22 Feb 2018 10:26 AM PST Just picked up a Pixel 2 XL after being on an iPhone for several years. Used to be into the rooting/romming scene. The only thing I want now is to be able to adblock system wide. On iOS, there was an app called Weblock. It would use a WiFi proxy to block ads as long as I was on the WiFi. Now, on the Pixel, I'm trying out using my VPN's adblocking feature. I think it's draining my battery though. Ive been reading about using Magisk to be able to use AdAway. But I wanted to know if it would be worth it. Is it difficult to maintain through monthly security updates? Is it safe? I want to be able to use Google Pay. Does Magisk compromise anything security wise? I have to think there's a reason that Google doesn't want us to have root and payment ability. [link] [comments] |
Is there any Spotify mods like the ones IOS have? Posted: 22 Feb 2018 11:08 AM PST So, in iOS after jailbreaking, I found mods like puting album cover in Your Library and other stuff. Any way to do this as I can't find it anywhere. [link] [comments] |
Android 2 device, no service, forgotten lock pattern - Any options? Posted: 22 Feb 2018 03:06 PM PST I recently found one of my old phones while going through some things. I thought I'd lost or bricked this thing, but I guess not. I can't remember my lockscreen pattern, so I tried unlocking the device by using my Google credentials and it wasn't working. As a sanity check, I logged in via computer to confirm I was using the right password, then re-tried on the phone. No dice. I'm guessing that because the phone has no cell service, and I've gone through 2 WiFi setups since the last time I used it, that it must either not be able to reach Googles servers or it's expecting an old password that's stored locally. Either way, I'm locked out. Is there any way around this? [link] [comments] |
Tool to retrieve data from a phone with a broken screen Posted: 22 Feb 2018 12:41 PM PST Hello everyone, looking for help with a NTT Docomo N-05E with a broken screen. The phone also has a screen lock. I am trying to retrieve the data on this phone. I tried multiple software such as mobikin and Dr Fone but their free versions do not let you transfer multiple files. I am trying to do this for free, so I do not want to buy a cable to connect my phone to a mouse. I also don't want to pay for paid software. Any help will be greatly appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Feb 2018 06:17 AM PST I'm looking for a good international travel phone. The problem so far with rugged phones is that they are always stuck on Android release of the time. I'm hoping to find something that is drop/water proof. Something like the Casio or CAT phone. Any recommendations would be appreciated! [link] [comments] |
