Posted: 02 Jan 2018 11:30 AM PST Hey guys, I am about to sell my MSI GE60 2OE and would like to plug in a new internal HDD. The original hard drive replacement is quite expensive and I would like to know, if there are cheaper alternatives. In the official information of the laptop it says that the HDD is 2.5 and SATA 3. Does that mean that the HDD in the following link would be compatible? https://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-MQ01ABF-MQ01ABF050-Internal-Drive/dp/B00F60QH5G Are there other cheap alternatives? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 Jan 2018 08:23 AM PST I'm looking for a cheap laptop for my mother (mid-60s). The only functionality that truly matters is web surfing and video streaming (Skype, Netflix, etc.). Was hoping for something that would cost less than $200 landed. Is this possible? Any recommendations? Is there a brand/model or marketplace that I should fixate on? [link] [comments]
Is there anything I can do if a new upgrade is released right after my laptop purchase? Posted: 02 Jan 2018 12:31 PM PST self explanatory; say a few weeks after I get a laptop, the model gets upgraded with a new processor for the same price Do I have any options in this case if it's after the return window? Squarespace or similar to prevent this or have a recourse? [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Jan 2018 04:56 AM PST I've recently purchased an Omen 17t and i want to buy a red laptop cooling station for it. An adjustable height one would be excellent but this is mainly just to keep the system at a cooler temp. Any recommendations would be highly appreciated. PS: If i posted in the wrong sub, please forgive me. [link] [comments]
Need new laptop willing to spend less than 1500 Posted: 02 Jan 2018 12:05 PM PST So my xps 13 from two years ago just broke and I don't think it's worth it to try and get it fixed for all it's problems. I'm looking for a new laptop that I'm willing to spend 1500 USD or less on. I'd like it to be 13 or 14in and be able to play basic games well (for the most part right now I only play like league of legends and overwatch). Ive heard good things from friends about the surface book 2 but I don't necessarily need a 2-in-1. I'd like a graphics card if possible though and at least 256gb hard drive. Any suggestions? Posted: 02 Jan 2018 08:54 AM PST So I bought an 13.3 Asus ZenBook UX330UA (2017, 8th Gen) from Best Buy in early December. The laptop has been great but I'm just concerned and getting frustrated with the battery life. The main reason I bought I new laptop was because my old one (from 2008) needed to constantly stay charged or else it would die off. I thought buying a brand new laptop would mean good battery life and no more worries of constantly staying plugged in to use it. Even when looking at reviews for this, I never once saw any mention of poor battery life either. With this Zenbook, I clocked its battery life at around only 4 hours (potentially squeezing to 5) with only light web browsing and some youtube video watching. I'm not sure how the battery life expectation is on laptop these days, but I expected a brand new $1000 laptop to at least get me through a whole work day without needing a charge. Especially the same week of purchase. Is that too much to ask? Now lately, I've noticed that, despite full charging the laptop and then turning it off, leaving it unplugged and unused for a couple of days, the next time I try to boot it up, it won't even turn on. Leaving me to frantically look for a plug to charge it, only to see it had 0% battery left. How is this possible? A fully charged battery without use for a few days decides to die? I'm thinking of returning it to Best Buy, but I wanted to first find out if this is normal of modern laptops before I bother wasting time going to a Best Buy (the closest one to me is an hour away). If it helps, I have it set to 20% on the battery saver option. [link] [comments]
Best 15 inch laptop for me - help Posted: 02 Jan 2018 08:48 AM PST Hey, I was wondering which laptop suits the following requirements I have. The price doesn't matter. - it has to be 15 inch - good graphic card gtx 1050ti or above - professional not gaming looks - good battery life - dunno if dual core or quad core i7 - numeric keypad (preferable...many 15 inch laptops has no numeric keypad but I use it quite alot) It will be used for gaming, cad work, writing text, watching movies, hobby programming... The closest thing I could find is the gigabyte 15x aero. Any other ideas? [link] [comments]
Buying a Laptop from US - Shipping to UK [HELP] Posted: 02 Jan 2018 07:41 AM PST Hi Guys, I currently live in the UK, and have been looking at getting a new gaming laptop for a while now, as mine is some 6 years old and performance is starting to suffer. One thing I've noticed, living in the UK, is that the prices are a LOT more expensive than elsewhere in the world. I've seen a laptop on Amazon.com, a MSI GL62M 7Rex with i7-7700HQ and GTX 1050 graphics card for $900. So that's about £700 pounds. Amazon.com are saying they will ship to the UK, so as far as I can tell, there shouldn't be any extra custom costs that I know of. For reference, the EXACT same laptop on amazon.co.uk is £1000. So you can obviously see the sizeable difference. I've done a quick search on this sub, and the question has been asked a couple of times over the last year, but no definitive answers on the posts I've checked over. Basically, the ultimate question I'm asking is do you see any issue with this? What problems could I have going down this route, and is it worth to just pay an extra £300 to make sure everything works perfectly. Any help is appreciated, best regards. [link] [comments]

Will this battery pack work with Dell Inspiron 13 7000? Posted: 02 Jan 2018 03:41 AM PST Hi I am planning to buy this model of Dell Inspiron 7000 : https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/DELL-Inspiron-13-7000-13-3-2-in-1-Grey/263396967630?hash=item3d53aec4ce:g:~hcAAOSwBjdaOkS- Although laptop offers very good performance for its price , it is not great in terms of battery and I read that it is okay at best.So I was wondering whether I can install higher capacity battery.Current one is 38w which is not enough and would give around 5 hours at best during light tasks. Also since it got USB C and it supports charging over USB C , can I use battery pack from manufacturers other than Dell to power it up?Such as this one since it got 45w output? Thanks for the help. My Asus Zenbook is shitting the bed. Need the best laptop for heavy 4k video editing under $2k. Posted: 01 Jan 2018 07:18 PM PST I do a lot of 4k video editing and color grading, as well as constantly using Lightroom and PS. The zenbook has been...... OK, although seriously lags when I have big 4k projects open in Premiere. I know Dell XPS 15 is supposed to be decent, but I have also been eyeing the Clevo laptops on Amazon like this I definitely want something with at least a gtx 1060, as it helps for video rendering, and games are cool. Weight is a factor though since I am constantly traveling. Under 4lbs would be nice. The zenbook weighs nothing, lol. [link] [comments]
Acer Swift 3 14" vs. Zenbook UX330UA 13.3" Posted: 02 Jan 2018 12:15 AM PST For a busy university student whose program requires him to study lecture notes and readings off of a computer screen for 10 hours a day... Don't care much about gaming capabilities, more concerned with functionality and productivity. Almost all of my textbooks are in pdf format so I need to be able to read them off of the screen for extended periods of time + multitask and write notes at the same time. Not looking for technical details, just general experiences of others who have used these computers for school/work and what you think of them. Also, please feel free to share any suggestions of other laptops within this price range [link] [comments]
Two Monitors with only a single HDMI Posted: 01 Jan 2018 11:47 PM PST My laptop only has one HDMI, no display port and no VGA. I would like to have two external monitors, so if I hooked one up through HDMI and the other through HDMI or VGA with a adapter (VGA to USB 3.0/HDMI to USB 3.0) would that work? If so, would it be better to use HDMI over VGA, as the adapters for HDMI are a little more pricey. [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Jan 2018 11:07 PM PST So I've been looking into many high end laptops like the XPS 15, Razer blade, Aero 15, and I was wondering whether or not I should buy these laptops now. I know that they'll be updating these laptops, however, I just don't know when. So my question is whether or not I should buy these laptops, and when will the majority of the laptops be updated? Posted: 01 Jan 2018 09:16 PM PST I own a Thinkpad T460s. Here is my spec: https://imgur.com/a/Fo5XO I bought this used laptop just last week. So i reformatted it and updated all drivers/system. In the process of updating i noticed that my battery dropped to 44% from 77% in less than 5 mins. The next morning i tried to use the laptop again and it happened again. More than 20% battery drop in less than 5 minutes. Also, from 40% it reached 90% in less than 1 hour while charging. I looked at the Lenovo settings (Lenovo Vantage app) to check the battery. It says both batteries are in good condition. Here is the screenshot of the battery details: https://imgur.com/a/4B0PB Then last night i tried to use it and the batteries are working fine now. No sudden drop and normal charging speed. I tried it today too and haven't noticed any issues. I havent done any update since the first day i got the device. Should i ask for a battery replacement already or it's a software issue? [link] [comments] |
