Posted: 01 Jan 2018 12:30 PM PST I've spent a lifetime swiping these articles away without clicking them and yet they incessantly are there. How can I train Chrome to stop suggesting those articles? It's frustrating to want to be suggested something to read and I'm forever swiping away these trash articles. Thanks! ps sorry if this is the wrong place to post [link] [comments] |
Google Assistant no longer able to provide directions to contacts' addresses? Posted: 01 Jan 2018 07:54 PM PST I used to be able to do this. For example, my mom's contact info is "Mothership" and so I used to be able to say "Go to Mothership" and it would bring me directions to my mom's house since her address is attached to her contact card. This used to work for everyone I had addresses for and then one day it just stopped. Rather recently. Has anybody else been experiencing this issue? [link] [comments] |
Can the Google Authenticator App be installed on an Android tablet? Posted: 01 Jan 2018 04:52 PM PST I have Android 6 on a tablet and I'm trying to install Google Authenticator App but it says "Your device isn't compatible with this version". I turned on 2 step verification on the google acct linked to the tablet and was able to receive the verification code, etc. The tablet has a sim card in it. I'm at a loss, the app requires Android 2.3.3 to run but other than that I dont see any other requrements I might not meet. Unless the app can't be installed on a tablet that is. Does anyone know if you can install the Google Authenticator App on a tablet? edit. I was able to install it on my SOs tablet, so it'll install on tablets just not mine. [link] [comments] |
How is average picture levels calculated? How does saphhire compare to gorilla glass? Posted: 01 Jan 2018 08:23 PM PST How is average picture levels calculated? Ive heard that its the percentage of black to white. Is this true? If so, how are colors other than black, white, and grey used in the calculation? How does saphhire compare to gorilla glass? Phone hacked, bank account and more breached. Best way to wipe it? Posted: 01 Jan 2018 12:09 PM PST So my bank called me to inform me of a breach to my account. Someone logged into my bank, changed my password, and tried to send tons of my money from my credit card and savings account. The representative on the phone said it was from a virus on my android device (I use my phone for banking). She told me I needed to wipe my phone and get my phone carrier to put anti-virus software on it. I have a few theories. I'm thinking the virus is Svpeng but I have no idea. I did notice my Bluetooth kept turning on by itself even after turning it off, no idea if that's part of it. I bought my Moto G5 Plus from Amazon maybe it was preloaded with malicious software (this one seems farfetched) ? I did quite a bit of travelling over the holidays and leave my wifi on, and my bluetooth was probably on as well. I also very recently made an account on Coinbase and purchased some crypto, I thought for sure this had something to do with it but the bank rep said she didn't think it had, she said it was a virus on my phone that could have been installed months ago, and the hacker could have been waiting for a opportune time to strike. I've installed about half a dozen anti-viruses and none of the scans bring anything up. So my biggest question is whats the best way to proceed with wiping my phone, or should I just buy a new one? I'd also love any information or theories on whats going on. Thanks for reading. [link] [comments] |
I keep getting notifications about devices I don’t own coming online. Can someone help? Posted: 01 Jan 2018 12:27 PM PST For the last few days I get a notification a couple times a day about devices coming online. It usually says something like "daddy's iPad came online" or "device came online" and the device iPhone is listed with the time. I'm asked to approve or deny it. There are no other WiFi devices in the house especially no iPhones or iPads so where is this message coming from. Is it malware and how do I stop it? Using Galaxy S7 on latest OS. Thanks [link] [comments] |
Reddit mobile crashing/freezing after last system update Posted: 01 Jan 2018 07:58 PM PST The Reddit mobile app keeps crashing or freezing since the last Android system update a few weeks ago. Did anyone else experience this? Is there a solution to it? [link] [comments] |
Apps uninstalled without my knowledge and Netflix disappeared from the store. Any thoughts? Posted: 01 Jan 2018 07:23 PM PST So, first off, for the longest time I've had a glitch in the Netflix app where it kept reminding me about long deleted downloaded shows. So, finally fed up after more than 9 months of it I decided to uninstall the Netflix app. Upon attempting to reinstall, Netflix could not be found anywhere on the Play store. Search is useless, trying to find similar apps while under Hulu or Amazon Prime, no Netflix. So, today I said, screw it and downloaded the Netflix apk. Out of curiosity I wondered if the Netflix app would show up in my Play Store Library. It doesn't show there either. That's part two, though. Going through my Library and I start noticing apps I use showing as Not Installed. I didn't uninstall them. How did they uninstall themselves? Anyway, back to Netflix. Sure, it's installed via the apk, but it's not recognized, so I doubt I'll receive updates for the app. Any idea why the uninstall caused it to disappear from the app store? Oh, one other thing, I tried to go to the store via the web and found Netflix. I then selected install and chose my phone from the list of devices and then it said, "the app will be installed momentarily" and it never installed it. It's a rooted, stock, LG V20, no other bells and whistles I can think of. Reboot did nothing. [link] [comments] |
Should i have android 7.0 by now? Posted: 01 Jan 2018 11:31 AM PST I have the honor 6x and I am still on android 6.0 . Should I already have 7.0 or is my phone skipping 7.0 and going straight to 8.0? Any help would be appreciated [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Jan 2018 03:15 PM PST I have a OP 5T and I'm having troubles writing files to my usb flash drive through OTG. I can't write any files or delete files on my usb through OTG unless I use the system file manager app (I usually use X-plore). I wiped my whole phone and reflashed the stock rom but the problem persists. I also tried other file managers like ES and Total Commander but neither worked. It works fine on my Galaxy S6 through both system file manager and X-plore. When I go to write a file in X-plore it prompts "Grant X-plore access to your data, including photos and videos on [usb name]?" And pressing yes, it says "Error! Can't create dir" or "Error! Some files could not be copied" depending on if I wanted to create a new folder or copy files onto the USB respectively. I looked online and a few years ago someone said to fix permissions in TWRP but that option is removed now. I also completely wiped my phone and flashed the stock rom which didn't work. Any help would be appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Different vibration for different notifications? Posted: 01 Jan 2018 05:54 PM PST So as the title says, on my old iPhone I could set a vibration pattern that is app specific so I know what kind of alert I'm getting. Is there a way to do this on android? I want to know when I'm getting a text vs when my clash gold mine upgraded... Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Am I okey as long as I don't run the virus program that I accidentally installed. Posted: 01 Jan 2018 08:07 PM PST Here's the story, I accidentally installed a apk that are 100% contain virus when I misclicked on an ad (I know I should just deletes it rather than download the app in it and run it). I later tried to deletes it but somehow misclicks again unintentionally downloads the app, but I didn't run or open it. I immediately deletes it, I am kinda worried about that did the virus remain even though I didn't run or open the app. If, I did, how can I delete it? [link] [comments] |
should i upgrade to lollipop on uk htc one m8 Posted: 01 Jan 2018 10:40 AM PST i have a htc one m8 running kitkat and i have factory reseted it and have finished setting it all back up. i dono weather its worth upgrading it to lolipop. 1st reason is because of more bloatware apps that would hog more of the space left and that i would end up disabling. then there's the qureston of privacy and data mining in ads because i dono if it comes with a newer htc sense interface 1 of the options is opt out of ad personalisation. then theres a google search bar in the recent apps which i dont know if i just disable google which i have then what? its anying because i cant just go back to kitkat even with a factory reset [link] [comments] |
Google play only shows local reviews Posted: 01 Jan 2018 07:23 PM PST I have a problem with Google Play store is that the only reviews on apps I see are reviews written by people in my country. I come from a very low populated country so often I see no written reviews at all even though an app will have plenty of them. I can't find a way to change this. Anyone know if it can done? Are all Androids unable to send gifs? Posted: 01 Jan 2018 09:24 AM PST I've got a 1.5yo LG Vista G 2 and have never been able to send a gif in a text message. They always send as a single frame jpeg. But my iPhone friends can text me gifs and I recieve them no problem. Is this a problem across Android phones no matter what? Or can some newer ones send gifs and videos through the messenging app? Is it a good idea for artists to use an Android Tablet for second monitor? Posted: 01 Jan 2018 09:19 AM PST My current monitor has very poor color, so I am wondering if it is a good idea to use my Samsung Tab as second monitor for better color. However, the current screen sharing/streaming app available seems to not put much emphasis on color calibration. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Jan 2018 09:12 AM PST So I want to uninstall bloatware from samsung/at&t using ADB, but I want to know if there are any serious side affects. Mainly, will I still receive OTA updates? I am planning to use the list of bloat from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/how-to/s8-debloat-bloatware-thread-t3669009/page3 even though it's for the S8, and then uninstall any remaining bloat that I have disabled already with PDP. I know what I am doing and have done similar things before, but I'm am not sure if there will be any serious repercussions such as no longer receiving updates. Edit: Also, will doing this void warranty? And is there a significant advantage of doing this over just using PDP to disable the packages, which I have already done So overall I am not super concerned with warranty, more about if it is worth the trouble over the safer and recoverable method of simpily disabling the apps. Found an old Jelly Bean tablet - How can I force install the latest Android OS? Posted: 01 Jan 2018 12:44 PM PST I found an old Android tablet that I wasn't going to use anymore. It's running Jelly Bean 4.2.2 and was produced as some Hipstreet Titan tablet. I don't care for anything on there and perhaps would like to wall-mount it run some smart home application. Is it feasible or possible to manually load the latest (or at least some much newer) Android OS onto this generic tablet? I did a quick search but there's a lot of information on this topic and it wasn't easy to determine if the answer is yes or no. If it's possible, would someone mind providing a good how-to link that can lead me through this? [link] [comments] |
