Posted: 27 Dec 2017 07:42 AM PST First and foremost, I apologize if this isn't in the right place. Also, I checked out the sidebar and looked at some of the FAQ's, but some of those posts are two years old, and frankly, I'm also a little overwhelmed with where to start. What are some of the first things I should do as far as device setup, optimization, customization, etc? Are apps like zedge, shoebox, etc safe? Conversely, are there any apps or things I should look out for from a security perspective? Anything else I may be blissfully unaware of that you guys can enlighten me about? Anything that came stock in the phone that I should remove? Again, I apologize if this is a common post (I'm sure it is) or if it's misplaced, but if you guys could at least point me the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it. | Mute if no headphones connected Posted: 27 Dec 2017 06:32 PM PST A few times it's happened that my headphones cable didn't click in the jack all the way, and so I started playing music and it boomed from my phone speakers unintentionally. This is usually when I'm about to listen to something socially unacceptable, in public. Is there a way to force silent mode to always be on if there's no bluetooth/headphones connected, so this doesn't happen to me by accident again? Using a Galaxy S7. [link] [comments]  |
| Strange "starting the service" message on phone Posted: 27 Dec 2017 09:05 PM PST Suddenly a grey pop up is appearing at the bottom of my samsung 4 that says "starting the service". It stays for a few seconds and disappears, and it doesn't matter which apps are open. I'm afraid it's malware. What should I do? I tried restarting it. And when I did for the first time after the red Verizon screen it went to a blue-ish green screen that said something like - optimizing apps. I tried looking at my apps but found nothing new. | VERY slow charging on Galaxy Note 8 Posted: 27 Dec 2017 05:06 PM PST I'm pretty desperate right now so I figured I would try to get some advice online. I left my fast charging cord and adapter at work, locked in an office, and won't be able to get it until Saturday. Since then, I've had to use my old charger cord and a standard USB wall adapter. When my phone is plugged in, it says it won't be fully charged until 30 HOURS from now... and I know its just the charger because it works just fine with the fast charging adapter. My question is, does the Note 8 not work with any other cord and adapter than the fast charging one??? because this is ridiculous. And if anyone else has experienced this is there anything I can do in the meantime until I can get my charger on Saturday [link] [comments]  |
| Need help connecting piano keyboard and BT headphones Posted: 27 Dec 2017 08:43 PM PST Hello guys! So I have a piano keyboard, Huawei P10 phone and a pair of Sony BT headphones. The headphones don't have a line in jack socket. What I am trying to achieve is connecting the phone with the keyboard (using a cable?) and then sending the sound over BT to Sony headphones. Do you guys know if it is possible? Does it require any additional app? Is there an option to do it without a phone using some sort of jack BT TX paired with headphones? However, one thing I miss is when you type into the "To" bar, if you type in "r", for example, it will show suggested recepients whose names or addresses start with "r" also. They don't have to be contact, either, even recently sent recepients appear there. However, these suggestions are not showing up on my LG LTE Premier android device. | Google Opinion Rewards account Posted: 27 Dec 2017 07:49 PM PST I have around $20 in play credits that I can't spend because when the app originally asked for my Gmail account I stupidly put my secondary email account rather than the one the phone uses. I have tried reinstalling Google Opinion Rewards and have even done a factory reset to no avail. Does anyone know of a way that I can change my Google Opinion Rewards account to my main Gmail account? Even if it means foregoing the $20 or so I have banked in my secondary account, I would much rather have any funds I earn be usable going forward. [link] [comments]  |

All Rokus. I know they have WiFi direct and I think that might be it. Is there a way I can stop seeing them? For reference, here a screenshot from a few minutes ago. | Galaxy S7 restarting when playing certain downloaded Netflix content Posted: 27 Dec 2017 06:16 PM PST Hi, in the last 2~3 months I've been running into the same random restart whenever I try to play some downloaded content (my islands still mostly without power and shitty cellphone signal so just streaming it is pretty difficult/not possible for me). After the restart, the watched mark (the thing that lets you know how far into an episode you are) gets reset for the whole series and I can usually watch whatever caused the restart before. Wondering if anyone has run into the same problem and maybe found a cause/fix/work around for the problem, the random restarts get really, really annoying when you're trying to disconnect a bit from reality and I just cant find any related posts on Google. I can only get versions older than 8.0 to work on it, but APKmirror says even the latest (15+) is built for Android 6.0+. This phone is 7.0. Most of the ones I tried just won't install. Usually do some school stuff and twiddle my thumbs. I bring my netbook because if it gets, damaged, broken, stolen, etc. not such a big deal. I've been playing around with programming and gamedev(construct2) and was thinking it might be nice to develop a couple apps and test them out. So far tried bluestacks, which runs up my ram so I tend to only have it open when I want to multitask. Going to try Andyroid next. Posted: 27 Dec 2017 05:00 PM PST So I just purchased a Sony XZ premium and after updating it to Oreo after setting it up, I noticed that the auto brightness goes mad when the lighting of the environment doesn't change. I'll be sat watching TV browsing reddit and the screen goes bright, dark, medium, bright, it cannot maintain a brightness, which renders this feature useless as of right now. | Alcatel one touch fierce xl bootloop Posted: 27 Dec 2017 12:50 PM PST Hey everyone, so I had a Alcatel onetouch fierce xl before I upgraded to my galaxy s8. I haven't used in about a month but my sister needed a phone so I figured I would give her this one. The problem here is that the phone won't turn on. It will continuously attempt to boot up and nothing will ever happen. The phone was rooted before I stopped using it. I have tried to factory reset it and clear the cache by pressing the power and volume up keys. This didn't work. Things to note: The phone was rooted with kingoroot. | Buying Advice - Replacement for my G4 Posted: 27 Dec 2017 04:17 PM PST Not sure if this is the right place but I'm looking to replace my aging LG G4. It's starting to get screen retention problems, battery issues and it's 6 months out of warranty. It's already been returned once in warranty for the bootloop issue. I'm looking at replacing it with either a Google Pixel 2 XL, an HTC U11+ or the OnePlus 5T. Losing the headphone port isn't a huge dealbreaker, as I can just use the adapter with my current headphones. What I want is a great camera and good battery life. The Pixel is also on sale right now with a free home mini. I also use a Pixel C which I really like. Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I'm based in the UK if that helps.
