I got a Huawei Honor 8 for free, is it a good idea to start using it instead of my Oneplus 2? Posted: 26 Dec 2017 04:04 PM PST I won an Honor 8 with a lottery but I'm not sure if I'm going to actually use it or put it on eBay. I've had a Oneplus 2 for almost 2 years and it still works fine for the most part (though it has certain quirks that are getting more frequent with time). The specs on the Honor 8 are better but the screen is smaller and from what I've read Huawei's android skin is really heavy while I'm used to (almost) stock. Also keep in mind that I'm a poor student so I could use the ~€200 I could get from selling it. What would you do in this situation? [link] [comments] |
Fast charging on a Samsung Galaxy 7 Posted: 26 Dec 2017 02:12 PM PST I recently bought a fast charging wall adapter that has the capability of quick charge 3.0. My phone can only use up to quick charge 2.0, if I use this wall charger, will i be able to utilize the quick charge 2.0 if it is a 3.0 charger? I just got home and tried it and the notification on the screen only said "charging" instead of "fast charging" so I am assuming that I can only quick charge if using a 2.0 charger. Just looking for some input, thanks. P.s. this is the charger I got https://www.bestbuy.com/site/platinum-quick-charge-wall-charger-black/5713026.p?skuId=5713026 [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Dec 2017 07:25 PM PST Hi. I have a problem about Google Play Services data consumption. I usually turn on Data Saver and only allow Google Play Services to use data. Every month my data usage is usually around 20 MB. Today is not even the end of month yet I've hit the data limit, Google Play Services is using quite data than before. My phone is Nexus 5x without any modification at all, I also did not install new apps and only use the phone to message someone occassionaly. I've been using this phone since Android 6 so I think the only reason is because I updated from Android 7 to 8 this month. Are there some new settings that I need to disable to make it consume less data? Here's the screenshot https://i.imgur.com/jbfOiHp.png Another strange thing, Google Play Store is using 10mb data even though I set it to download over Wi-Fi only. [link] [comments] |
What's the oldest phone that can be upgraded to Oreo? Posted: 26 Dec 2017 07:24 PM PST Just wondering if anybody knew what the oldest phone is that can run Oreo, whether it's official or not. If not Oreo then Nougat instead? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Dec 2017 07:24 PM PST So my Galaxy S7 wifi has an exclamation mark with it, and my wifi connection is working but defintely not working right. I cannot figure out how to fix it. Below is a list of things I have tried and problems I am having. Only happens at home. No other devices are having this issue. Wifi works, but is slowish and sometimes apps don't recognize I am connected right away. Example: I open bumble (don't judge me!) it says no network connection then connects before I can even do anything. I have updated my phone. I have forgotten network, then reconnected to network. I have restarted my router. I have done all those things and restarted my phone. I have done all those things and powered my phone off, waited a 5 minutes then restarted my phone. Not sure what else to do. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Dec 2017 07:04 PM PST Hey I live east of Canada but a lot of time I recieve notifications from google that says the weather in Kelowna, a city in west of Canada. My weather widget also says im in Kelowna, and the clock shows 5pm instead of 8pm (for example) There is a refresh button and when I press it, sometimes it doesnt do anything but sometimes everything goes back to normal But some time later it will change back to Kelowna. Always Kelowna. I tried turning on and off the phone but the problem is still happening. Help? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Dec 2017 04:37 PM PST Is there an actual reason for this? It is like impossible for a server somewhere to delete my data? Or to devs just not think about people that want multiple playthroughs of the game? [link] [comments] |
Need help clarifying terminology behind kernels? Posted: 26 Dec 2017 08:10 PM PST I was wondering if someone could help me clarify some terminology behind kernels? Ive heard that there is aosp (source code from google, which is more feature rich) and caf (source code from qualcomm, which might have better performance and allows older devices to be compatalible). Are aosp and caf types of kernels? Are there other types of kernels? Is there source code from other soc manufacturers? Do they have a different type of kernels? Ive also heard of eas. Id this a type of kernel or a feature of a kernel? [link] [comments] |
Why can't I download an app in Play Store on my Samsung S7 unless I'm using wifi? Posted: 26 Dec 2017 08:10 PM PST Carrier is Straighttalk/Verizon. I've tried clearing app cache and resetting the phone. I've set it to allow updates on mobile. Nothing seems to work. This is really annoying. [link] [comments] |
Opening Imgur Link From Reddit Posted: 26 Dec 2017 05:05 PM PST I use the official Reddit app and every time I open an Imgur link it takes me to the reddit browser first instead of just opening the Imgur app. Any suggestions on how to stop this? [link] [comments] |

Devide not recognized by PC after using OTG cable. Posted: 26 Dec 2017 02:14 PM PST Hi. I've been using an OTG cable to connect my portable disk and use the files. But today, right after connecting it to my tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab A T-580), it didn't work. So I tried to connect my tablet to my PC and it only charges, but doesn't get recognized AT ALL. It's like something happened to the micro-usb connector and it doesn't get energy enough to transmit data? Please, need help asap :( DEVICE* sorry for the typo [link] [comments] |

Posted: 26 Dec 2017 07:10 PM PST Today is my first day using Android (8.1 Pixel 2 XL). I am getting notifications fine* for the most part, but when I am using the phone, notifications do not appear on my screen. For example, earlier I was composing an email. While writing the email my phone made a noise for an incoming whatsapp notification, however the notification never showed on my screen. It was, however, I my notification pulldown. Notifications do show when I am on my lock screen. I do have "allow interruptions" turned on. Solutions, or is that by design? If the latter, is there a workaround? *The one app I am having notification issues with is Instagram. The only notification showing in my pulldown notifications in the most recent, even if I have several new notifications. Suggestions for that? And lastly, is it possible to see all of my notifications individually on my lock screen rather than lumped together by app. I know people hate this about iOS, but I like to be able to look down at my lock screen and see ever notification with out having to touch my screen. How would I go about making a back-up and rooting my Samsung Galaxy A5 2016? Posted: 26 Dec 2017 08:09 AM PST Dumb question: If I delete the phone's stock apps like Facebook or the default messaging app will they return if I factory reset my phone? EDIT: Running on Android version 7.0 [link] [comments] |
Broken phone, Emulator, Windows, Urgent Posted: 26 Dec 2017 05:05 PM PST Hey, I just broke my android (Samsung S4 Mini), lucky me. I'm here to ask if there is an android emulator for windows. I need my phone data (urgent), fixing the display would cost me more than the phone (f*ck) Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Clicking on 1 app takes me to another [Galaxy s8] Posted: 26 Dec 2017 12:13 PM PST This has happened to me before with other androids. The problem is whenever I click on an app for example, I click on my Gallery app, it takes me to another app like YouTube. At first I shrugged it off and thought I accidentally clicked on it. But then it started happening more and more often and the app that it takes me to is no where near the app that I clicked on. It's not the big of an issue but it happens [link] [comments] |

Options become highlighted when I hover finger above screen Posted: 26 Dec 2017 10:40 AM PST Hi guys, Since today I'm having this strange issue that options in menus become highlighted when I hover my finger above the screen. It shows up in the settings app, gsam, swiftkey settings, google play store and calculator app but not in all of my apps. I feel like I've accidentally enabled an option somewhere but I can't find exactly what. I'm on a samsung galaxy s5+ running Resurrection Remix 5.8.5 (android 7.1.2) and I'm rooted with magisk. after a factory reset, I now see this.... Posted: 26 Dec 2017 12:52 AM PST I did a factory reset on my unlocked Moto E4 (amazon ad version), then ran the ADB commands to stop the ads and disabled all the Amazon apps...nothing that i have never done before. But as i was trying to access a new network, i saw all this extra shit in the network lists...so my question is, what the hell is all of this crap? It just bothers me visually...lol I blacked out what looks to be MAC addresses... [link] [comments] |
How to unlock the phone so it can use SIM cards from every carrier? Posted: 26 Dec 2017 12:25 PM PST I will buy new phone tomorrow, and it will be locked to use only T-mobile SIM cards. However, I will travel abroad in February, and need it to be unlocked to use another SIM card. I don't want to pay for this, not in the company, not on the Internet. I found this page, has anyone tried it to confirm whether it is a reliable one? If not, can anyone assist me in unlocking the phone by myself? I will get Huawei Y6. [link] [comments] |
