Posted: 28 Dec 2017 05:42 PM PST I wanna root my LG V20 and install greenify etc. I'd there a guarantee that I will be able to unroot it later with no consequences, Such that if an update comes up at some time in the future, I can avail it and then root my phone again? Chrome translate, default target language? Posted: 28 Dec 2017 05:47 PM PST Chrome has this handy feature that will translate foreign languages. Unfortunately it will always translate into into the default system language ( in my case german) and if you want to translate into another language, you have to manually change it everytime a websites (re)loads. Since it was a sudden death he had no opportunity to tell us important information. I know he kept notes about important stuff like password, bank accounts etc. I found around 26gb backup of his phone in one of his USB drives. He has asked me to "set it up"; I haven't powered it on even, before consulting you. It's an unlocked phone -- I think it was bought in Singapore -- and I have never "set up" a new phone, so I didn't want to wreck or brick my father's new phone. How do I go about setting it up? Root access? He isn't very techie, though; and I am not always around. Posted: 28 Dec 2017 11:00 AM PST I have been using flashlight apps fine for the past year, and then as soon as I install 8.1, this error started. With 100% consistency, if I turn a flashlight app on, as soon as I turn it off, the app or widget crashes and "System UI has stopped" appears and the phone goes black. I just factory reset last night after not wanting to since updating to 8.1 and it did not fix the issue. I thought factory reset was supposed to reset the entire phone to factory, but it still said in the "About Phone" that 8.1 was installed on Dec 5th. Basically, I've had an S7 and all these days, whenever I saved my whatsapp and facebook images, they would save on my phone memory. Then I inserted an sd card and everything was still fine. Just that, any new pictures I took with the camera stored in the sd card and downloaded pics went in the phone. Now, suddenly, my camera pictures are still storing but any pictures I'm downloading are not showing up in any folder in my gallery. I read online that this is because I already have a folder with that name on my phone, so the sd card isn't saving it. I tried changing the name of the original folders to something else but as a result all my pictures in that folder became inaccessible till I changed the name back. Is there a way to auto delete old SMS messages using the Android Messages app? Posted: 28 Dec 2017 08:37 PM PST I have a Galaxy S8+, but I have been using the Android Messages app because it's clean and I like using Google stuff, usually. However, I noticed that this app doesn't have a setting to auto-delete old messages (like the Samsung stock app deletes message to keep each thread under 200 SMS). At least, I couldn't find it. Google PlayStore can't redeem gift card. Posted: 28 Dec 2017 11:55 AM PST Trying to add a $10.00 gift card to Google Play account, getting an error. So I punch in the code into the redeem code box and it asks if I want to confirm adding $10 to my account. I click confirm. The next box to appear says Create Account. It asks for name, email, zip code, and phone number. The only info that is not already filled in is Zip Code. After adding it and clicking confirm, I get an error. "ERROR An unexpected error has occurred. Please try again later. [OR-AFI-01] 9ecb281e13d392b8" Google Play acknowledges that the code would credit $10.00, so I feel like it has little to do with the code. The tricky part: this account I am trying to credit is under parental restrictions. What settings need to be changed to make things work out? gifted an older tablet. it wont install minecraft from store. what are my options? Posted: 28 Dec 2017 07:23 PM PST when i try to download minecraft it says its not supported by this version. of which i can assume it's referring to the version of android on my tablet. it's a viking pro from rca. we went to visit my folks for christmas and i was given a bunch of extra garbage to take home. i had my eye on the tablet at least cuz it came with a keyboard and i could play mcpe with a mouse and keyboard combo. unfortunately, no such luck. i have looked into various other options. even an illegal apk i could then install and login to with my real minecraft account (couldnt find one that wasnt trying to install a trojan horse first). i tried downloading the .jar file for linux from minecraft.net but that was a total bust. who knew an android device couldn't run a java application? i've considered maybe rooting this thing and putting a version of android on here that CAN run minecraft, but all that seems a bit much. i suppose ill find another way for my kids to pick up on dad's hobby ;) unless, of course, anyone here can suggest something? submitted by /u/kraylus [link] [comments]

I'm supposedly at risk from KRACK according to various anti-virus apps I installed onto my Galaxy S5, and it says to download a patch from the device manufacturer, but when I looked up info about it it said that there wasn't one for Galaxy S5's and now I'm wondering what am I supposed to do now? I thought it was supposed to avoid sexual words, yet when I type "Gf" it suggests "Porn" and "Sucking" as follow-up words. I typically cast my screen while looking up information in groups, and don't want others assuming my typing habits based on GBoard's suggestions. Is this happening to other people too? Seems like the most trivial thing but I'm having SUCH a hard time finding an app to actually BLOCK THE TEXTS FROM COMING IN. Most of them you have to use their app as a default messager and usually the interface sucks and I hate it. a lot of them only block calls and I still get the incoming texts. Wallpaper Resolution gets worse over time Posted: 28 Dec 2017 03:52 AM PST Hi, new to this sub. Wanted to know any reasoning behind why my wallpaper (1080x1920 on my screen which is 540x960) will randomly turn into a fuzzy blurry mess, in this case, after a day. https://imgur.com/a/EHdxz <- the screenshot on the 27th is the normal resolution and the 28th is the messed up one. I've tried different launchers (default TouchWiz, Nova, Oreo UI, Google Now) and it keeps happening with any wallpaper I chose. Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask but does anyone have any clues? At first I thought it was battery saving but I tested it and nothing happens when I get past 15%. No Service issue: mobile turned on but all hardware is off Posted: 28 Dec 2017 06:20 PM PST Two days ago, my phone stopped getting mobile service even though the connection is turned on. Basically, software says it's on but the hardware is all turned off. None of the standard rebooting, pulling out the SIM or toggling airplane mode does any good. Any ideas? For whatever reason, the HTC tells me the card is corrupted, but when I pop it back into my S8+ it reads just fine. Audio Application to raise or lower volume? Posted: 28 Dec 2017 05:58 PM PST I own a OG Google Pixel phone and a pair of Jaybird Freedoms. The headphones are great, i have almost no complaints. However, by raising the volume on my phone or headphones, the volume change is significant. The difference between 2 or 3 is either too quiet or too loud. On my previous device, a BLU vivo 5 this issue was not present. Neither is it on my laptop.
