PSA: SMS Backup and Restore has been acquired from Carbonite. Posted: 29 Dec 2017 01:51 PM PST As mentioned in the app's most recent update
I was able to trust Carbonite when they acquired it from the original developer, but the new company's website doesn't instill confidence. I'm going to hold off on updating for now. Does /r/android have a preferred alternative? [link] [comments]

Roamit is now completely free and open source! Posted: 29 Dec 2017 07:47 AM PST Hey guys, I've launched Roamit on Android a few months ago, shortly after its release on Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile. (For those who are not familiar with Roamit, it's an app to share links, synchronize clipboard content, and quickly share files via local Wi-Fi between Windows 10 and Android devices) Today, I'm happy to announce that I've made Roamit completely free and open source in celebration of new year. All limitations are now relieved from Android version. On the Windows version, currently you can tap Upgrade button to remove limitations, the price for In-App-Purchase is 0$. (I'll remove the upgrade button and limitations completely in an update for the Windows 10 app soon too) Also, both Windows 10 and Android versions of the app are now open source, and the code is available here on my Github. Thanks for all the feedback I've received from you, and happy holidays :) You can get Roamit for Windows 10, Android, and Firefox/Chrome browser extensions from Roamit website. [link] [comments]
Why aren't Sony Xperia phones more widely used? Posted: 29 Dec 2017 11:37 AM PST I have owned a Sony Xperia L1 for a while now and I do not see why the Xperia brand has not become more mainstream. For £150 you get a good camera, decent specs and a 5.5 inch screen with USB-C charging. Why isn't there more coverage of the Sony flagship, the XZ premium? I haven't seen any of the tech Youtubers I watch even mention it. Is it just uninteresting, or not as good compared to Samsung and LG etc. I am genuinely interested as an Android lover and user, why these phones have not sold as much as their competitors. Samsung's Nougat Emojis compared to the Oreo Beta Emojis Posted: 28 Dec 2017 11:30 PM PST Here's Samsung's Android N Emojis compared to the mostly redone emojis in their most recent beta of Oreo: I personally like the Oreo Emojis much better and I think they finally look more like iOS's, so I am quite glad that they redid them.
