I just installed Windows 10 Home on a new PC Posted: 29 Nov 2017 06:47 PM PST And I was wondering if instead of paying for a key, I can somehow transfer or share a key with my other device running the same OS. [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Nov 2017 05:35 PM PST I was a Mac user for ~13 years and just bought a Surface Book 2. I'm acclimating to Windows 10. Most everything has gone smoothly so far. I'm a photographer and I just exported a set of photos to a folder on my desktop. I created the folder on the desktop by shortcut shift+ctrl+N. I named the folder and then went to Lightroom and chose that folder as the destination to export my photos as JPEGs. I exported, uploaded to Google Drive for a client and now I'm ready to delete the folder off my desktop but.... I get the error "You'll need to provide administrator permission to delete this folder." any idea? I haven't come across this error at all so far and not sure how to proceed. I am the only person who set this computer up so I assume I should be the administrator. [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Nov 2017 05:08 PM PST Hi, not sure of this is the right sub. If not please point me to the right place. I recently got my old laptop repaired and I've discovered there is still a password on it. It's the main admin account, there are no other accounts on it. I can't remember the password and I don't have a password recovery disk. I've tried a couple of methods including using startup repair to access and rename the cmd.exe to utilman ap I can load it from the log in screen but nothing is working. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It's widows 7 ultimate. [link] [comments]
I’m looking for free simple to use app to create a video on my computer Posted: 29 Nov 2017 03:16 PM PST I'd like to be able to record multiple videos and then put them together to make 1 video. I will probably only be using it once so I really don't want to have to spend any money [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Nov 2017 07:28 AM PST I have a set of 9 website NOC type pages that I have on display on a large 65" 4K display. These pages are just live status graphs for various services and connections. Each graph is basically a new browser window. They are all URL shortcuts saved on the desktop so they're easy to reload after a restart. The only issue is all the window positions need to be re-done because Windows itself doesn't remember each window size/position (not all of them are the same size). Does anyone know of a tool that will either remember active window positions, and reload them at logon, or at least allow you to load websites as new browser windows and remember their positions? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Is it still possible to buy genuine keys of Windows 7 Posted: 29 Nov 2017 10:56 AM PST Like I see ebay listings or random websites all selling you keys. Are they genuine keys where some of the money will go to Microsoft and you'll be entitled to security updates until 2020? A situation has arisen where someone I know is running a non-genuine copy of W7 Ultimate SP1 that has never been updated since installation. they balked at how much W7 ultimate cost when it was originally released as they were a poor teenager with limited pocketmoney, but find the prices of keys advertised now online to be much more reasonable for their economic position. they are insistent that they will, never, ever update to Window 10 from W7 as they believe W10 and beyond is basically a spy OS and they don't fancy selling themselves as data. Posted: 29 Nov 2017 01:54 PM PST Do i need to go through the whole process of creating the drive through the creation tool again? I'm selling my laptop, so i'm trying to erase it completely while including a flash drive with windows 10 ready to boot up. I used a flash drive earlier to do a clean install and make sure it worked, which went fine. However it took about 3 hours to make the tool so i'd like to avoid doing that again if it's not necessary. Thanks [link] [comments]
Cannot delete file. Says "Could not find this item. This is no longer located in D:\" Posted: 29 Nov 2017 07:43 AM PST I tried winrar it with "delete file after archiving" box checked, got error message "The system cannot find the file specified" Command line didn't work either with the same message. The file is 0KB and doesn't have an extension. It's supposed to be a .srt subtitle for this YouTube video, downloaded from downsub.com [link] [comments]
After Update Login Screen Stops Appearing Posted: 29 Nov 2017 01:28 PM PST I need some help. The computer boots normally however when the login screen is reached nothing appears. Keyboard and mouse inputs still work but the only the three buttons on the screen are available. Googling the issue hasn't done much for me and any help offered would be greatly appreciated. The issue has been going on for a while now but after the most recent update it has been far worse. [link] [comments]
Cortana doesn't interact with search bar at all Posted: 29 Nov 2017 01:13 PM PST My Cortana is still enabled, if I click out of the search (on the sidebar) it appears with weather etc. but when I search it only does a web search. In fact I don't think my search bar searches the system at all. I've looked around and can find people with similar, but not exactly the same situation. What should I do? [link] [comments]
Why can I "Select All" in a desktop filename, but I cannot Ctrl-A to select all? Posted: 29 Nov 2017 07:00 AM PST It works for files on hard drives, but if the file is on the Desktop, Ctrl-A will not select the entire contents of a filename. [link] [comments]
Explorer does not work properly anymore after I uninstalled clover Posted: 29 Nov 2017 11:08 AM PST After uninstalling Clover (http://en.ejie.me/), several annoying things changed when I use my explorer.

I can't seem to work out how to disable automatic updates. Posted: 29 Nov 2017 02:58 AM PST Hi there! I was wondering if there was a way to disable the automatic updates for Windows 10. I have googled it, and found a way by clicking something called "Computer Configuration", However I cannot find where this is either. If anyone could help it would be very much appreciated! BSOD occurs when using certain programs Posted: 29 Nov 2017 08:52 AM PST When I open Spotify, or Photoshop, on my laptop, it will cause my screen to freeze and not work, and will crash to a BSOD soon after. I have tried finding a solution for the error on the Blue Screen, but to no avail. This started occurring after the latest update on Windows 10. Any solution or tips are greatly appreciated. If it helps, my laptop model: Asus FX553V [link] [comments]
HELP! Adobe PDFs now ALL say "aodbe" as the file type! Posted: 29 Nov 2017 05:01 AM PST I have no idea what happened. Before lunch, I was able to access all of my PDFs just fine. When I got back, they all have the IE logo instead of the PDF logo. And the file type says "aodbe." When I try to hit "Save As" and change it to Adobe, I can't. I'm not too computer savvy, so I'm really hoping I didn't lose all my PDFs. TIA for any help! [link] [comments]

Posted: 29 Nov 2017 04:15 AM PST Hello, I used the assistive technologies offer to get Windows 10 for free. Before that, I had Windows 7 and I didn't get a new licence key for Windows 10 so I don't know if I can use my Windows 7 licence key to reinstall Windows 10. Did anyone have the same issue ? Tell me if you can use the old Windows 7 key to activate Windows 1. Thanks. [link] [comments]
Is there a way to uninstall all the crapware in Windows 10? Posted: 29 Nov 2017 06:42 AM PST I just paid $200 and installed Windows 10 Pro on my new PC. It installed with a ton of little games, utilities, and crapware that I don;t want on my new system. I was able to uninstall many of the games, but apps like Xbox, Weather, Mixed Reality Viewer, Groove Music, Messaging, and a variety of others are stuck on my system. I cannot seem to uninstall them. Is there a way to accomplish this? Thanks [link] [comments]
How to put back the Documents folder as the original? Posted: 28 Nov 2017 10:51 PM PST Ok so two days ago, Onedrive changed my Documents folder to the Onedrive version and replaced it with a version from a previous computer I owned that was synced to Onedrive. I never asked it to do this because I don't use Onedrive. Onedrive is fucking bloatware. So how do I put back the normal path for the Documents folder in my This PC section? Now that I've unsynced this cancerous Onedrive from my computer, whenever I click on Documents, it tells me it's not synced and that I need to sync it to Onedrive to open it. [link] [comments] |
