Snapchat notification sounds controlled by media volume, not ringer volume Posted: 29 Nov 2017 07:02 PM PST Hello, I had an earlier issue where I could not silence snapchat notification sounds unless I disabled snapchat notifications entirely, which was frustrating. I have a Google Pixel. I have narrowed my problem down to the snapchat notification volume being controlled by media volume, not ringer volume. This issue extremely frustrating because:
I have not been able to find a workaround, and I would rather not completely disable snapchat notifications. This seems like such an easy fix too. Any suggestions? [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Nov 2017 07:11 PM PST As the title says, I see this toast message appear in the same location every time I turn on the screen. It remains visible for 2 seconds before a quick transparent fade and then it's gone. From a connectivity standpoint, I haven't noticed any troubling issues with my phone regardless of whether the screen is on or off, so for all intents and purposes I'm treating this as a nuisance. Four pages deep into a Google search and I come up empty, which is aggravating as hell. Reddit seems like my only hope at this point. Of course, it's difficult to troubleshoot without knowing who else might be affected. Is it symptomatic of the version I'm running? 8.0.0 Is it my device? Pixel 2 Perhaps my carrier? Project Fi Could it be solved by some simple tweak in Settings that I'm overlooking? What about general troubleshooting tips....is there some tool or method you can recommend for determining what app or process is triggering a particular toast message? I would appreciate any suggestions or insights you can offer. Thanks for reading this! [link] [comments]

Help me guide my uncle's non-SMS messaging future Posted: 29 Nov 2017 07:33 AM PST My uncle recently got a Galaxy Note5, which he loves, and I'm excited for him because it's his first smartphone and he can finally understand what the rest of us youngins have been talking about when it comes to UberLyftGrubhubCashVenmoYouNameItHere. I got him started with non-SMS messaging by setting him up on Hangouts. I've noticed that he's taken to it in a way that he never did with SMS, probably because he can be long-winded and Hangouts doesn't chop up our messages into 160-character chunks. He also sent a sticker for the first time yesterday, a sign to me that he's exploring what Hangouts has to offer. I'm aware that the state of first-party messaging services on Android is fragmented, and as an iOS user who doesn't keep up with the state of Google services as closely as I do Apple services, I'm not sure what Google has planned for Hangouts given the introduction of Allo/Duo and the existence of other competing platforms (WhatsApp, Viber, Signal, etc.) My question: should I keep him on Hangouts, or introduce him to a new platform? Note that he's the only Android user in the family, otherwise another Android pioneer would have made the decision for us by vouching for WhatsApp or something. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Nov 2017 09:53 PM PST So I've been thinking of getting the u11+ but since it's not coming to the US I've been looking for other ways to get hold of one. Wonda mobile is based in Hong Kong and can ship to the US for free, they also offer a one year warranty and their prices are pretty good; to be honest, all of this seems too good to be true. Has anyone ordered a phone from them recently? Did you have any issues with the phone and how was the customer service? [link] [comments]

Has anyone else had a problem with Android failing at critical times? Posted: 29 Nov 2017 01:08 PM PST There have been many times in the past where my android (I've had different makes and models over the years) have worked fine and been amazing, UNTIL I need it to work at a critical time. That's when the apps start to crash and things just don't work. Is this a problem with anyone else or am I just unlucky? [link] [comments]
High Battery Drain, Many Likely Culprits Ruled Out Posted: 29 Nov 2017 09:50 PM PST So I have a Galaxy S3 i747 that drains batteries from full to dead in under two hours even on max power save with no apps installed past vanilla. My first thought was that it was the custom Rom I had installed (LineageOS, latest release for my device), maybe my device was too old for the latest version of Android. So I tried a different one. I installed an old copy of CyanogenMod I had, based on Android 5.1. Same problem. At this point I thought it may be some sort of problem with custom ROMs in general, so I flashed my stock firmware back onto it. The issue persists. Now, you're probably thinking, "dude the phone is 6 years old, that's probably why". However, I have a second phone of identical model, as well as an S3 T999V and neither of them drain batteries this quickly at all. They both drain them at a similar rate, which is what I'd consider standard for phones of this age. I should mention this was all tested with the same battery in all of the phones, and then again with another battery to rule that out. So in summary, I've ruled out: OS/ROMs, Apps, Bad Battery, The Phone Model. Is there a hardware issue that could be causing this? Or another issue that I could've missed? Thanks in advance. Switching from Android to iPhone. Any tips so I can have a smooth transition? Posted: 29 Nov 2017 09:47 PM PST Anything I should know or save before going over? I'm using SMS backup+ and SMS Backup & Restore to save my text messages (Got some emotional stuff in there I like reading) Saved my pictures and videos on Google Photos Doesn't Google get rid of some of your shit if you don't use an Android in like 3 months or something? I have a separate non service Android to prevent this. Luckily I haven't bought much on the Google Play store. An alarm app, Dark Sky, and Mario Run. I do have $7 from Google Rewards though. Can I still do Google Rewards on an iPhone? Saving all my contacts onto my Google account. [link] [comments]
Most reliable place to download adhell? Posted: 29 Nov 2017 09:29 PM PST Hi there, I just recently got a Samsung Galaxy s8+ and I've heard all the hype around adhell. I've heard that the original app was taken down from the play store and now has to be downloaded through an APK site. I'm looking for the most official/reliable APK Thanks:) [link] [comments]

How to restore the "app drawer"(?) On my Microsoft Launcher? (Pixel 2) Posted: 29 Nov 2017 12:26 PM PST From what I looked up online I think what I deleted accidentally was my app drawer. It was a circle on the tray at the bottom with circles in it and when I tapped on it it would bring me to my list of apps. I'm using the Microsoft Launcher if that helps at all. I don't know how it happened I tapped on it I guess for a second too long and it disappeared. I would really love to have it back. [link] [comments]
Not too sure what Tablet to purchase? Posted: 29 Nov 2017 09:06 PM PST Hello! I'm currently looking for an Android tablet to pretty much only use for Netflix/Youtube/Reddit/Google Docs as well as using it to control my main Desktop computer through wifi. If i'm not using the tablet for simple media consumption, I'd be using ssh to access my main computer. I'm looking for a tablet under 200 dollars as well as a keyboard case under 30 dollars. That's a soft limit, but hopefully nothing too much higher than that. The main requirements are that it can connect to wifi 2.4 as well as 5. I'd also like the screen to be decent and be able to have LineageOS on the tablet. Any ideas? [link] [comments]
Why do I have to babysit my phone when downloading files? Posted: 29 Nov 2017 08:56 PM PST My Droid mini (running 4.4.4) self-destructed a few weeks ago, forcing me to replace it with a Samsung Galaxy J7 V running version 7.something. Since getting the new phone, downloading my podcasts from my server has become a pain in the ass. I used to use a version of rsync built for android to download my files from the server, but it doesn't seem to be in the Play store anymore. My backup has long been to use AndFTP to download the mp3 files over SCP. Generally, this wasn't a problem until I got the new phone, and now every time I download files, I have to set the screen to stay on for ten minutes and fiddle with it frequently enough to keep it from going dark or else it just closes the connection. I found a feature called "data saver" which looked to be causing this behavior and added AndFTP to its exception list, but still could not download files without babysitting. Even when I completely turned off data saver, the issue persists. I just want to download my files. What do I do? [link] [comments]
Why do videos sent as text messages look terrible? Posted: 29 Nov 2017 07:27 PM PST Whenever a friend sends me a video through text it comes out looking extremely low resolution. I'm not sure if it's because my friends have an iPhone and I have an android but they can send high resolution videos to each other through imessage. I am trying to convince my brother to switch to an android but the other day he tried sending me a video from his camera roll (iPhone) to my phone (android) through text and the video I received was really low quality. Is there something I'm missing or does android just really suck at sending and receiving videos?? [link] [comments]
Phone locks up and returns to home screen randomly Posted: 29 Nov 2017 11:49 AM PST I posted this a few weeks ago in the official Android Help Forums, but never got a response, so I decided It try here: have a Blu Vivo XL2. In the last few months, it's began acting strangely. In the last few weeks, the issues happen nearly every time I use the phone. I'll be using the phone (it happens regardless of what app I'm using), and it will suddenly vibrate and returns as if I'd pressed the back button. It will lock up when this happens and continue going back until it returns to the home screen, at which point it continues vibrating, and the Google Assistant thing pulls up. It usually stops when I lock the phone, but it inevitably happens again soon after. I have updated the phone, have factory reset it twice, and run countless antivirus software since the issues began, and nothing has helped. This is my last hope because I cannot find any help. Posted: 29 Nov 2017 11:27 AM PST I have a Moto Z Force and my SO has a Droid Turbo 2. On my phone, I can control the volume of the phone and BT speaker separately. On hers, they are linked so volume steps are very large. Is there a way to make hers behave like mine? I am unable to find an settings that change this. This does not seem to be specific to one speaker. We have tried a Bose SoundLink, an Altec speaker, and Jaybird Freedoms. Mine always has the volume separate and hers is always linked. Posted: 29 Nov 2017 03:11 PM PST I'm planning on rooting my Moto Z Play but staying on the stock ROM as it has better battery life (according to XDA members) compared to LineageOS. I also really like Moto Display and all of the other exclusive features to this ROM. However, I still want to receive OTAs after doing so. I've read that an app called FlashFire can help me with this. Question 1: Do the OTAs download even if your system is rooted? I've read that some phones do download the OTAs, but fail when the flashing starts as they have a custom recovery, while some phones don't even download at all once it detects that you're rooted. Question 2: Will it work even if I have TWRP installed? Thank you. [link] [comments]
Printing from amazon prime app Posted: 29 Nov 2017 06:37 PM PST I use to be able to print return shipping labels from the Amazon app. Upgraded to a LG v30 and now I am not able to print labels from the app. Has anyone seen this? Any work around? Thanks [link] [comments]
Can you backup a bricked phone on a chromebook? Posted: 29 Nov 2017 06:15 PM PST have a nexus 6p that was bricked when I tried flashing android 8.0 a while back. It says "can't load android system. Your data may be corrupt. If you continue to get this message you may need to perform a factory data reset and erase all user data stored on this device". I've tried everything I could think of to no avail and have resigned to the fact that I'm going to have to factory reset the phone. But I would like to back up my data and photos and I'm not sure how to go about doing so. I don't have access to a windows or mac computer only my low budget chrome book. Connecting the phone to the chrome book using usb doesn't seem to trigger anything at all and I'm wondering if the bricked status of the phone combined with the limits of chrome os might mean I can't back up my data? Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated! [link] [comments]
