[DEV] Libre Music 2.0.00 released bringing many improvements including a complete UI overhaul. Posted: 29 Nov 2017 02:35 AM PST I'm proud to announce the Beta version 2.0.00 of Libre Music!
For anyone who doesn't know what Libre Music is here is a link to my original LIbre Music thread where I explained how it's different from other music players In short, Libre Music is a FOSS media player that supports cue sheets both separate and embedded ones. [link] [comments] |
Nova Launcher app shortcuts slow to open/not opening when using "pills" pop-up menu style. Posted: 29 Nov 2017 09:03 AM PST Using a Xiaomi Mi A1 running stock Nougat 7.1.2 with the latest Nova update. I don't use the Sesame Shortcuts app/extension. Choosing the "block" style fixes the issue, but I prefer the aesthetic of the "pills" animation and size. This only started happening after the latest update (the one that added search bar in dock). Any idea what's the issue? [link] [comments] |
Looking for a free day planner. Posted: 29 Nov 2017 10:25 AM PST I am a college student so I wanted to know if there is a app that allows me to feed in my daily schedule once and then each week it'll remind me to do stuff and also allowing me to set reminders or notifications when a task starts. For eg: 8-10 college lecture 10-12 college lecture 2-4 go to the gym 4-5 complete assignments if any. Something like that. Plus points if it's ad-free or looks good. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Nov 2017 01:39 AM PST Facebook is the only app that does this. Every other app shows a download progress bar upon creation. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
PSA: Don't get yourself in trouble! Posted: 29 Nov 2017 11:23 AM PST Okay, pretty generic title, but important topic. Lately some of my friends and even me have been receiving calls from within our country, from "random people" claiming to be the neighbor (and complaining about the callee "stealing wifi", "stealing power", or in general, marijuana smell), insurance support line, etc. These calls are automated and from a quite convincing recording. The culprit? A trending Android app called JokesPhone (and its clone, JuasApp). These apps are "prank call" apps. You select the topic, enter the number you want to prank, and when its done, you get a recording of the call. Sounds fun, right? Well no. One, some of the calls (especially the marijuana smell and the insurance stuff) can be dangerous as it can expose information about you, two, it is still considered harassment. Also, the company(es) ask for money for more than a pair of calls, and at a quite hefty price. Now, yes, the worst issue for Regular Joe is the annoyance such prank calls can cause. However there's a legal side to this too. Because of data protection, in most countries (all EU countries, possibly in the US too), recording voice calls requires both parties' knowledge and acceptance of the act itself. This is why whenever you call a bank, your telco provider, or pretty much any support line, they first annoyingly tell you about the recording rules and how you can access these recordings. This app records the whole call, and makes it available to at least one person. In most countries, both the corporation (which is conveniently placed in a South American country) and the person accessing the call recording are liable, plus, the person requesting the call can be reported to the police for harassment. And I'm pretty sure the company logs all the users and the requests for various numbers... So to save your asses, DO NOT use this application. While legal action against users is quite unlikely, it's better to not incriminate yourselves. And it would actually be nice if this app, and the company, was reported to hell. It's not nice to get rich with illegal activities. [link] [comments] |
Pulse app not sending gifs found through the keyboard? Posted: 29 Nov 2017 09:04 AM PST Hey everyone, So I just yesterday switched over to Pulse from Textra for my sms app, just to try something new since I've been using Textra for quite some time now. While I love the look and performance of Pulse, I can't figure out how to send gifs that I find through my keyboard though. I've tried both gBoard and Swiftkey, but neither of them seem to work. Photos are fine, but just not gifs. It's starting to make me a little crazy because I'm sure it's something simple and obvious that I'm just not seeing. Anyone else have this problem? How to restrict WhatsApp from accessing your entire contact list and all its information? Posted: 29 Nov 2017 11:12 AM PST This was asked 3 years ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/androidapps/comments/2lnbt8/how_can_you_restrict_whatsapp_from_accessing_your/ Any update on this? How can we still have to feed all contact list and all contacts details: personal addresses, telephone numbers, birthday dates, door codes, just everything!! All the data goes to Facebook, since it's Whatsapp's parent company now. How can Google continue letting Android apps suck all users' data with no control whatsoever? Once you give a permission, it's all or nothing. Note that the usual just-don-t-use-the-app doesn't help: even if YOU don't use it, all those who have some details about you in their contact list are giving YOUR data to Facebook for free and without restriction. You and I can't do shit if Google or Facebook keep things unchanged. Scary times, uh? [link] [comments] |

Alternative to Zedge? (Ringtones) Posted: 28 Nov 2017 02:22 PM PST Zedge is nice for the variety but I find mostly the same ringtones and poor quality. Looking for a nice alternative, or even a good app for just turning mp3 downloads into ringtones. [link] [comments] |

Looking for an app/tasker profile to control phone charging Posted: 29 Nov 2017 05:15 AM PST Hey guys! Just as the title says, I'm looking for a software solution (app or Tasker profile or similar, doesn't matter as long as it does the job) to control charge/discharge cycles of a phone. What I want to achieve, in short, is the ability to stop charging the battery when the phone reaches 80-100% and restarting charge when it hits 40-20. Why you ask? It's a sort of home automation experiment I'm doing, I have this smartphone hanging on my room's wall that needs to be powered on and charging 24/7, so I was looking for a way not to waste the battery in few months! Does something similar even exist? Thanks in advance :D [link] [comments] |
A question about Money Lover and linked accounts. Posted: 29 Nov 2017 07:18 AM PST I have started monitoring my finances a lot more lately and have begun using Money Lover but some things are going over my head. [link] [comments] |
Apps for blocking spoofed numbers? Posted: 28 Nov 2017 12:53 PM PST Are there any apps that can detect and block spoofed numbers automatically? I've found a couple that claim the can but charge you $15+ a month, which in itself seems like a scam. [link] [comments] |
What App do you use to Markup Screenshots? Posted: 29 Nov 2017 07:07 AM PST I was a fan of Skitch and need a replacement now that it is no longer supported or updated by Evernote. [link] [comments] |
Can anyone tell me what this icon is please? Posted: 29 Nov 2017 06:25 AM PST https://i.imgur.com/ywbMeh3.png Its in my status bar, and then in the notification shade. Comes on 'usually' when the battery gets below 20% but not always, holding the notification and app details shows 'android system' and nothing else, In battery stats, intelligent power saving standby is OFF and battery saver is OFF. MTK phone on stock MM but all MTK apps and 'features' have been removed (app lock/battery saver/cleaner..etc) No app listed in app list that it could be, and it also increases my screen brightness above what I have it set to for indoors. Is more an annoyance than a problem, can hide the notification with NotifyClean if I need to, its just confusing me. Any help appreciated :) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Nov 2017 05:40 AM PST Not 100% sure this is the right place, but I'm not sure where would be better. TL;DW - If I spend credit gained from taking surveys and similar in the play-store, does the developer of the app actually get money? Or do they just take the hit, as part of the app-store agreement? Firefox Tab bar missing in Oneplus 3T Posted: 28 Nov 2017 08:33 PM PST Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this... I tried r/firefox and r/oneplus, but didn't get too far. So I recommended Firefox Quantum to a friend.. Showing what it looked like on my LG V20 - with the tab bar on top. When he installed it on his Oneplus 3T, he didn't get that tab bar and not even any option to get it in the settings. We both prefer the look (and convenience) of having the tab bar there. I'm attaching screenshots of my screen and his below.. Please have a look: https://imgur.com/a/JWwuo EDIT: Question: How can he get a tab bar on top on his phone as well? [link] [comments] |
What email app to use on Note 8 Posted: 29 Nov 2017 04:12 AM PST I am struggling with this coming from iOS where I was using Spark. I have used Inbox, Blue Mail, Aqua, Edison email etc. I can't use outlook since I have work email coming on it. I have read that some of these apps are not secure. What's the most secure app that I can use on my note 8. I have Gmail, iCloud and outlook.com accounts to sync. I also read that I could have multiple instances of outlook on my phone. By adding outlook to the secure folder. Does someone know how to make this work? [link] [comments] |

ES File Explorer Version that I can use? Posted: 29 Nov 2017 01:54 AM PST I know everyone don't like ES File Explorer because of the additional bloatware they added to their app but it wasn't always like that. What's the ES version that I can use without ads, giving my privacy or bloatware that they added later on? [link] [comments] |
