Dell Inspiron 15 7000 for $700 Posted: 26 Nov 2017 12:48 PM PST Hey all, Wanted to get your thoughts on this deal for an Inspiron. I recently fried the motherboard of my MSI gs63vr, and wanted to replace it relatively quickly and cheaply so I can get back into PC gaming, and came accross this deal: Seems almost too good to be true, but I'm assuming the fact that it's only an i5 processor might be a huge drawback. The reviews for the i7 model are pretty good, and I was hoping that having an i5 wouldn't set gaming performance too far back. Any thoughts? Should I save for laptop with an i7 to ensure I can play games on medium settings at 60fps for the next four years? [link] [comments]

brand new laptop getting very hot Posted: 26 Nov 2017 01:55 PM PST I just recently purchased an Acer Aspire E15 with an i5-835OU 8gb of ram a mx150 and a 256 ssd. I got the computer for school but decided to try a few games on it. It runs overwatch very well but I checked the cpu and gpu temperature while playing the game and they get up to the upper 80s Celsius and even reached 90. I thought this was very hot so I watched the temperature when just doing school work and it was aroun 50 degrees Celsius but would occasionally get up to around 70 degrees celsius. Is this normal for a laptop with these specs? I have looked into getting a laptop cooling pad would that help? Are there potentially any programs or anything causing this heat?? Any help/advice on why it is getting so hot or solutions to reduce the heat would be greatly appreciated!!! I have only had the laptop for about a week. [link] [comments]
Xiaomi Notebook Pro - does any of versions (i5, i7 8th gen) support external 144 hz monitor ? Posted: 26 Nov 2017 01:54 PM PST I'm looking to buy it, but not really sure, if my 144 hz monitor would cooperate with this HDMI. If you have any sugestions where could I gain such information (maybe some other subreddit?), let me know as well. [link] [comments]
Need help with this specific laptop Posted: 26 Nov 2017 01:53 PM PST Hi, so I have been looking around for a good laptop around 13' for university, with the latest i7-8500U and if possible with a graphics card. What I found was Lenovo Ideapad 320S-13IKB-554 that has that same CPU but from what I read its battery lacks a lot.So i was hoping some of you could tell me if I should but it and if not what are my options. By budget is around 1000 euros or 1150 dollars. Here is a link for that same laptop: https://www3.lenovo.com/gb/en/laptops/ideapad/300-series/Ideapad-320S-13IKB/p/88IP30S0902 or https://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-81BQ000DUS-320S-15IKB-Notebook-i7-8550U/dp/B0767FHTRT/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1511733014&sr=1-4&keywords=Lenovo+Ideapad+320S&refinements=p_n_feature_five_browse-bin%3A7817224011 [link] [comments]

Experience with Dell Inspiron 7577 battery life? Posted: 26 Nov 2017 12:15 PM PST Hello to the guys who own a Dell Inspiron 7577, how is your experience with battery life in general use (surfing the web, watching some Netflix/YouTube)? I currently think about buying this laptop, but reports about the battery life are mixed(from about 3-5h)! Thank you for advance! :) [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Nov 2017 11:47 AM PST I'm in the market for buying a laptop, I'm looking towards best buy, and my friend was telling me that solid state drives were the way to go for random access speeds as well as battery performance. When using the filter option on bestbuy, I saw an option for an SSD drive and a SATA drive. I'm not too familiar with hard drives, so I was wondering what would the advantage be for a SATA and an SSD rather than just an SSD alone. It would be helpful if anyone could explain the difference between the two as well. [link] [comments]
Touchpad dead after installing and updating precision drivers Posted: 26 Nov 2017 11:38 AM PST Hey, I have installed the precision touchpad drivers on my HP Spectre x360 (15-BL108CA), but after updating them (with searching the internet for update) the pad was basically dead, it only registered right clicks anymore (also when clicking the left side). I have already tried uninstalling the device/drivers, installing the synaptic drivers from the HP website, installing the precision drivers again and so on. After uninstalling the device, the touchpad worked, but only movement, no gestures, and it was shown as PS/2 mouse in device manager. Does anyone know what else I can try to revive my touchpad? Laptop for school, any help appreciated! :) Posted: 26 Nov 2017 07:35 AM PST Hey there! Looking for a super budget laptop for school, under $200 (or around £150) Gotta run Microsoft programs (word, powerpoint etc.) Browse the web and I would love it to be able to do a bit of Photoshop/blender, but idk if this is possible. I've heard of Chromebooks but have no clue what they are or how they differ from regular ol' laptops, may need a quick ELI5 before you bamboozle me with chromebook knowledge ;) Thanks for any help! Much obliged! [link] [comments]

What are must have programs & software that you always have to have on your laptop? Posted: 25 Nov 2017 11:49 PM PST Or any other thing for that matter? I just did a clean fresh install of Windows 10 on my new ssd for the first time. Thanks to some help from this sub, it was the best thing I ever did to my laptop. It works so fast and clean now! Now it looks empty and all I really have is Microsoft Edge browser. I'm a noob at this, so I'm kinda proud because it was my first time ever attempting to mod a computer laptop lol. Deleted all the bloat ware and stuff that came with it. I want to know what programs and stuff do you guys usually install when starting fresh? Or things that you find useful to have? Lenovo Yoga 720 (15") [Question] Posted: 26 Nov 2017 08:14 AM PST Hey folks, I am torn between two options for the Lenovo Yoga 720. I can pay $900 for the version with an i5-7300HQ or I can pay an extra $100 to get the version with an i7-7700HQ. I would like to have it be as future proof as possible. I plan on running engineering programs such as MATLAB and PSpice on it. I will also inevitably game on it, but gaming performance does not matter too much to me since I've got a tower at home. Please let me know if you think the extra $100 is worth it for the i7. Thank you for your time! [link] [comments]

Laptop screen/panel replacement Posted: 26 Nov 2017 02:11 AM PST Laptop model - Acer E5-575G-33QB Came with a dreadful 1366x768 display and I'm planning on upgrading it to a 1080p display. There are awlso E5-575G models that came with 1080p displays so I'm thinking this would work. Current panel model is B156XTN07.0, I've heard that b156han01.2 and b156han01.1 (both 1080p panels) were confirmed to work when upgrading from a 1366x768. Besides the mentioned models, what other panels would be compatible? I'm wondering if any of the panels from this site would be compatible. [link] [comments]

Help! My laptop is suddenly slow Posted: 26 Nov 2017 04:41 AM PST My Asus GL552VX was working fine till yesterday everything is slow and lagging. First, when I boot it up, I press the power button and the Asus logo take about 1 minute to show up which is just few seconds before. After that, Windows takes a long time to boot in, it shows the Windows 10 logo, then the 'loading dots' for 4 5 minutes before getting to the Username and password screen. Surprisingly when it got in the Windows, it's seem normal for about 10 or 20 minutes using. At that time, my laptop come slow and the mouse is lagging, I can't even use the trackpad (it more smooth with the wireless mouse). I have reinstalled Windows but it didn't help. Sorry for my long post [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Nov 2017 12:09 AM PST Some of my friends say that you need to charge battery only after fully using it (at ~5%) in order for battery to have a longer life. Wondering is that a myth or not [link] [comments]

Posted: 26 Nov 2017 02:16 AM PST I've been having performance issues with this laptop for a while now. At first, the internet adapter was a big issue. I gave it an update and everything was fine. After an automatic update, things began to go downhill. I play League of Legends and I noticed that my ms went from 20-40 to a constant 120+ My frame rate is also an issue. I used to get 200fps+ and now its only 60. I have turned off speedstep, checked for updates automatically and manually, installed GeForce Experience and adjusted in game settings. Sometimes, things are fine, but most of the time, things as described occur. Issues continue to persist, is there any way I can fix this? Thanks. [link] [comments]
