How does Content delivery/distribution network work?

My confusion lie in where do the updates happen.

    (I abstract DNS lookup)

    1) User requests for webpage.

    2) Request goes to edge CDN server.

If the page is there, throw the page back to client

If the page isn't there, request from origin server, save the page in your own server, and send that page to client.

    3) When next time user requests same page, throw that page directly from CDN server.

My confusion is once the page comes to CDN server. Say there are 7 CDN servers globally(in 7 continents). And the page has came to CDN server of North America. So do all continents CDN server gets updated? I personally see no point in updating all the CDN servers globally.

But I've found confusing remarks like "all the copies are updated". Why? What all copies? Where? Please explain.

    Question about multi port NICs

    Posted: 15 Jun 2022 04:57 AM PDT

Hello all you beautiful nerds! I am working on building a test rig for some older enterprise equipment and I had an idea to use several 4 port NICs to test 16 ports on the equipment I'm working on either all at once or one port at a time.

My question is probably pretty simple, can I individually address these network ports and treat them as their own interface or would I need to build some VMs to do this?

If it helps at all what I'm actually doing is repairing older Cisco equipment which comes in with faulty ports, I'm trying to build a test station which will allow you to hook up several ports at once and run a semi-automated test without much human intervention. I have a few ideas for how I might do this but I figured using the 4 port NICs would solve the bulk of this issue. If anyone on here knows how this could be accomplished using a switch that would also work.

Also please ask questions if I was confusing, it's basically first thing in the morning and I'm just now drinking my coffee for the day, appreciate all the help!
