What are all the built-in cmd troubleshooting tools? Posted: 02 Jun 2022 06:39 AM PDT The only ones I know about are sfc, dism, bootrec, and chkdsk. Are there any more built-in cmd troubleshooting tools? [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Jun 2022 06:18 AM PDT Hey all. I've been wondering if I should download Windows 11 or stick with Windows 10. All I want to hear is a few pros and cons from the windows community and what other additional information should be provided to me. Thanks a lot. :) [link] [comments]

Why does Windows take so long to list the contents of a directory with 100s of files? Posted: 01 Jun 2022 07:23 PM PDT This happens in both Powershell and Command Prompt. "dir" takes several seconds before it responds. This does not happen in a comparable directory in Linux. "ls" responds immediately. Is there some way to speed up Windows dir response time? This is really annoying when looking at a log directory with lots of files. [link] [comments]
Why there's little to no Windows 11 exclusive features? Posted: 01 Jun 2022 04:26 PM PDT So, all Windows 11 features such as redesigned Microsoft Store, Desktop Windows Spotlight, redesigned Search Menu and Windows Explorer with Tabs are on Windows 10 too. The lack of Windows 11 exclusive features makes Windows 11 look more like reskinned Windows 10. I know there are DirectStorage and stuffs, but they are hidden features. I also know this is case with previous Windows versions (Windows 98 = 95, Windows XP = 2000/ME, Windows 7 = Vista, Windows 10 = 8.1), but they manage to be more different and has exclusive features. I don't hate Windows 11, but it isn't supposed to be "new" Windows version with exclusive features? [link] [comments]

I need something very specific Posted: 01 Jun 2022 12:33 PM PDT I need a program where i can cut in half multiple photos at the same time. For example i have around 700 photos that I need to cut in half at the same time. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Jun 2022 09:13 AM PDT Windows 7 home edition. After I open Windows Explorer there is this left menu with Computer, and below it, Network. When I click Network I see a bunch of links appear on the right. I want to delete a bunch of them but I don't know how. Delete, RMB doesn't show delete. Below each name is the text Share. Ideas? I mean not this but the icons that point to no longer connected external harddisk. I had a hdd on "I" but bought another that took its place somehow so all my links to "I" should point to "L" now instead. If i net delete I, it will probably get rid of the shares, but also disconnect my current I hdd. [link] [comments]
Let me dock the taskbar vertically to the left edge of my screen Posted: 31 May 2022 11:30 PM PDT I upgraded to W11 and it's fine. Except this. I really need to be able to dock my taskbar vertically to the left edge of my screen. Why? - Better for screen real estate on all widescreens in my opinion, especially ultrawidescreens - Makes using pen and touch better: No accidental bumps with my wrist - makes visual sense with old W8/W10 vertical side panels and new W11 widget side panel - all the taskbar items are now forced to be square anyway 🤷♂️ so it's not like you're missing some other info like app or window name like in WinXP & earlier Been doing this for ~10+ years. Please add this back. [link] [comments]
Blocking LOL Binaries from access to internet on Windows Firewall Posted: 01 Jun 2022 01:19 AM PDT Hi all, I wonder if I cofigure block outbound traffic on Windows Firewall Advanced Security for LOL Bas with tag "Download" is there any chance to not cripple basic functions of Windows Client Host? e.g. AppInstaller.exe or Bitsadmin.exe or CertReq.exe Thanks in advance for help! Windows 11 rant - dragging files to open programs on taskbar - wtf M$ Posted: 31 May 2022 05:36 PM PDT I recently upgraded to windows 11 and I can't believe they removed so much simple functionality to the taskbar. The most obvious one is dragging files from explorer to open programs. I get a red X when I do this and nothing happens. I have to instead hold Alt+Tab and tab over to the app I need to drag my shit into. This affects me every multiple times an hour every fucking hour of my workday. And the other one is removing the "task manager" from the taskbar right click. Obviously less of an issue, but wtf M$. [link] [comments]

Why is the Microsoft store on PC so dogshit Posted: 31 May 2022 12:08 PM PDT Like fucking hell, I'm literally only trying to install a game, and it 'prepares' the download for 10 minutes just to fail. [link] [comments]
Is there any way to change the default Windows 11 Startup Chime to a custom one? Posted: 31 May 2022 04:57 PM PDT I tend to do a lot of tinkering with the theme of my PC. I wonder if there is a way to change the default Windows 11 Startup Chime to something different. I have a 2 second long .wav file that I would like to put as it's boot sound and I'm wondering if there is any way to do that. [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 May 2022 02:59 AM PDT If I enable secure boot on my windows 10 machine will that make me reinstall windows? [link] [comments]
