just had a HORIBLE experience with Samsung Smart Switch app..

    Posted: 01 May 2022 04:40 AM PDT

multiple ~200MB movie files were transferred, but it only transferen the first 90KB-ish of all the files, but didn't report any errors. the file music/CallAppRecording/recording-4747239068_23-12-2021_11-08-55_1_7140331441289074739.amr is 8kb on the old phone, but only 4kb on the new phone (smart switch somehow lost the last 4kb).

if the wifi connection was dodgy, ok i get it, files can get corrupted, but the piece of ship app didn't even manage to detect that the transfers were corrupted? if they'd just hire 1 rsync dev to get the file transfer code working.. or just shipped rsync instead of whatever custom file copy code they came up with..

    now i don't trust the ~1000 SMS's it allegedly transferred over =/

what's your experience with Samsung Smart Switch?

Can an S22 Ultra replace a tablet?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2022 06:35 PM PDT

So I'm considering buying a companion device for school to go alongside my laptop. Would mostly use it for note-taking during math class. I was interested in getting an iPad mini 6 but if I can combine two devices into one that would be great.

Removed Force Peak Refresh Rate ?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2022 07:49 PM PDT

Hey guys I have a Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus and I don't see a option to force 120hz all the time instead of the adaptive option. Usually there is an option in the developer options but I can't see it?

Please tell me I am dumb and I am blind that I can't see it and Samsung didn't go out of they're way to remove the option

Do the S22 Ultra Camera bumps need a protective film?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2022 10:53 PM PDT

Is the exposure of the individual camera pieces prone to increased rates of scratching?

Some cases are available with this glass or film type protection for the camera.

Should I buy them or is it really not a problem for this phone?

Is there no good screen protector for the S10+??

    Posted: 30 Apr 2022 04:36 PM PDT

I spent an entire 7 hours in total comparing phones on GSMArena to try to find a phone that would last more than a year, which was better than my current phone: Samsung A5 2017. Which was seriously harder than you think because all the newer phones are either just made to be a portable camera or are just going to be replaced in 3 months by another phone. But enough about the ranting.

I've found a good deal on a used S10+ for 250€ (might pick it up tomorrow, haven't paid) and the first thing I always do is buy a screen protector and extremely rugged case. I work as a bicycle mechanic, so dropping my phone or getting grease, tools on it is pretty common. Also I'm pretty clumsy so I drop my phone quite often. This case/protector combo has held up since 2017 and I've just been using cheap ass screen protectors from god knows where and basically been throwing my phone around like it's nothing and not having to worry.

Now I've just spent about 2 hours trying to find a good screen protector for the S10+. But all I can find is overpriced stuff with an installation that is like trying to perform a heart surgery (whitestone) and honestly I'm not really interested in paying 50€ every time my phone gets a crack in it.

I really don't give a shit about the fingerprint scanner it's just things that make the phone look cool but really just don't appeal to me whatsoever. So I've been looking, and all i can find is shitty screen protectors that have either a hole in the screen for the scanner (Einstein level thinking, seriously who came up with that idea) or just a very ugly spot in the center of your screen.

If it isn't for the spot it's also about the stickiness. People are complaining their protectors are falling off. And don't get me started about cases.

So am I just stupid, or should I just look for another brand of phone? I've always loved Samsung but if the only option is to run it bone dry and risk ruining my new phone and having to replace the screen for twice the amount the phone costed me then I'm definitely deciding for something else.

Honestly the feature that sticks the most with me is the great night camera. I go on night walks often and I do see a bit of scenery that i like to photograph. So I hope this won't be the end of my Samsung spree.

A12 System UI has location access all the time

    Posted: 30 Apr 2022 03:58 PM PDT

I compared my Pixel and S22 Ultra, and in privacy settings for the pixel I can disable all location access. Currently shows all location access toggled off for everything on the pixel.

On the Samsung "System UI" has location access all the time enabled and the toggle switch is blanked out. Bixby routines is the same.

Is Samsung being more transparent about this? Both running Android 12.

I was surprised to find out that my Flip 3 supports MST for Samsung Pay.

    Posted: 29 Apr 2022 02:29 PM PDT

I was dreading upgrading from my S10 because I wanted to keep MST payment capability, and I thought Samsung got rid of it. I was able to get my hands on the Pokemon Edition Flip 3 and the model that it comes with has MST enabled. I guess it is because it is a Korean release, but it is unlocked and doesn't have any bloatware. I am pretty happy with it so far.

any good file edit software for samsung tablet?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2022 03:21 AM PDT

I notice that onedrive, Samsung notes and the other file editors are a pain in the ass to work with. Is there any file edit software similar to onenote which doesn't react to your finger and also stores up the files easily?

I forgot the password of my phone but can unlock it from fingerprint. How do i change the password now?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2022 05:15 AM PDT

so, basically I changed my password two days back forgot it the next morning and from past 2 days I am using my fingerprint for unlocking my phone (M31)

I tried changing the password but the issue is that it asks 'current password'. Fingerprint is not working there. It needs the password for me being able to change the password.

what do i do now? I have already copied all of my photos to my pc and I can hard reset my phone but It would be great if there is any way to change the password

Lowest cost new & unlocked 1080P Samsung Phone in USA?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2022 08:49 AM PDT

I noticed seemingly the cheapest 1080P Samsung phone is the A53 5G.

My wife is looking for a new unlocked Samsung phone to replace her LG ThinQ7 and I'm on an internship so we're budgeted.

Is there any other new Samsung phone which is 1080P and cheaper?

Simply needs to be as good or better than the prior phone.

Thank you in advance for the advice.

Has anyone switched from a Pixel to S22+?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2022 05:42 AM PDT

    Hello everyone,

Did anyone here make a switch from a Pixel 6 phone to the S22 plus?

I would like to hear some feedback in terms of battery life, performance and the OneUI experience, if possible.

    Thanks!

Anyone else think the OneUI 3 audio controls look better than a OneUI 4's?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2022 12:06 AM PDT

I received my Tab A8 this week as a pre-order gift for my s22+ and I've noticed that even though the A8 still only has android 11/OneUI 3, the audio controls in the notification shade and lock screen looks so much nicer than my s22's with android 12/OneUI 4.

It's so much more colourful imo than the boring monochrome look of OneUI 4. I think after seeing the gorgeous new controls for android 13 on my pixel 5 it's made me want Samsung to go back to this look for their next iteration. I think this can be said for Samsung's approach to material you overall in OneUI 4 imo, coming from my pixel 5 I absolutely love my new s22 but it just feels a bit more sterile and monochrome than my pixel.

My first and last Samsung phone.

    Posted: 30 Apr 2022 11:13 PM PDT

Been only six months with my S21 and plagued with crashes and random reboots, this was my most expensive phone purchase and can't believe my history of low or midrange phones from other brands are more stable.

Don't recommend me to try software fixes cause I tried them all and they don't work. I been sending crash reports countless time to Samsung shit support never reply on their useless app. It's obvious Samsung produced shitty faulty phones and did not quality test or worse knowing they have problem continued to sell them to consumer hoping problem comes out when warranty expires like Sony in 90s.

This is the only Android phone that convinced me to finally switch to iPhone. I had enough of Google's spyware, third party bloatware mixed with hardware issues.

What Samsung Smart Switch Method is the Fastest?

    Posted: 29 Apr 2022 06:18 PM PDT

I am getting a N22U delivered tomorrow and need to transfer all my data over to it from my N20U. I am going to use Samsung Smart Switch but I'm not sure what method is the fastest. I believe there are 3 options: Connecting the phones together via USB-C cable, doing the transfer wirelessly via wifi and backing up the data from the old phone to your PC, then transferring the data from your PC to the new device. Based on your experience which method is the fastest?
