What dedicated GPU is closest to UHD 730? Posted: 02 Apr 2022 10:04 AM PDT paired with 8gb dual channel clocked at 3200mhz. on the i5-12400 Thinking about using this for at least 20-45fps at 720p low. Not sure how bad/awful it is. take this kindly but I don't want overexaggerated answers, just realistic ones. I know it's bad and will be "unacceptable" for most but I'm wondering how bad it is. by randomly searching closest I could find was gt 640 which was beaten by uhd 730 by a bit, but it was supposedly a lot better than gt 730, according to userbenchmark. PLEASE HELP fucked everything trying to get my overpriced Ddr5 ram running at the supposed 5600mhz Posted: 02 Apr 2022 03:19 PM PDT Motherboard: Asus prime z690-p Ram: OLOy Blade 16GB Ddr5 5600mhz Processor: intel for i7-12700k Gpu: Msi 3070 ti Cooler: NZXT Kraken z63 Storage: 2 tb m.2 Fully had my system up and running for two days. After bench testing the system and realizing my memory isn't running close to its rating went into bios changed the ram settings to the proper settings saved and exited. When that happened computer was configuring for 10 mins then shut off. Now when I turn on the computer everything lights up and is working fine fans spinning on gpu, all case fans spinning, pump is working and displaying info on lcd, also when lab cable is plugged in motherboard does light up BUT nothing displays on screen. No bios no nothing. Everything works but nothing is displayed on the monitor. I have tried taking out the CMOS battery multiple times and shorting the 2 pins to no avail. Tried booting without CMOS battery did nothing. Tried one stick of ram and no gpu did nothing. I'm completely lost on what to do my motherboard has ASUS crash free bios 3 and asus EZ Flash 3. That is the only thing I haven't tried. Any help would be extremely appreciated [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Apr 2022 11:50 AM PDT As per the title, I bought a new UPS (Prolink PRO700SFCU) for my PC. It works completely fine and enters normal battery mode when I manually test it by unplugging it from the wall socket, but whenever an actual power trip occurs, the overload alarm immediately goes off and the UPS instantly shuts off, causing my PC to shut off as well. I have zero fucking clue what's happening. The monitoring app which came with the UPS says that I am always below 30% load, so it's definitely not an overloading issue, and yet I get the overload alarm when a power trip occurs. Posted: 02 Apr 2022 03:54 PM PDT Hey trying to build a computer for 1500-1800 and built this around what was available at a local microcenter. Any recommendations for lowering price would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
What's the best way to setup my four monitors? Posted: 02 Apr 2022 03:32 PM PDT So I have 2 (two) Dell 32" curved monitors and 2 (two) 27" Dell 4K monitors still boxed up. My PC which is also about to be unboxed next week has the 3090 gfx card which supports four monitors but I'm perplexed as to the best method of setting up and having these monitors displayed. Would two at the top and two at the bottom be playing it safe? Perhaps use the 32" in vertical mode on each side and have the two 4K monitors in the middle? I know i'm asking a lot of questions I'm just overwhelmed with curiosity. Thanks in advanced. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Apr 2022 09:31 AM PDT Hey everyone, I'm looking to upgrade my OS drive from the 970 Evo Plus to a gen 4 drive. Would really appreciate it if I could get some suggestions to point me in the right direction. Budget would be less than $300 or so and am looking for at least 2TB. [link] [comments] |
Recommend a second monitor for editing photos? Posted: 02 Apr 2022 11:41 AM PDT My primary monitor is a AW3418DW. I love this monitor, it was my first entry into ultrawide, saying good bye to bezels. I have color corrected it with a X-Rite colormunki display (now called Calibrite) and it suited me well for a while. I've started to get more serious about being a amateur photographer and I was comparing some pictures on my AW34 to my tablet, a Samsung Tab s6, and it was noticeably nicer on the tablet. If I'm going all in on the photo editing, I should be able to see what others see while I edit it, right? Can you recommend a second monitor to compliment my AW34 but with a slightly nicer screen? Don't worry about matching the alienware stand, I have my aw34 on a floating mount. Thanks. edit - i'd like to be able to use in portrait mode too, so either a vesa mount or stand that rotates the monitor. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Apr 2022 03:26 PM PDT I've got my build planned out, the only thing I'm unsure of is motherboard. This one looks decent, though it's missing type-c USB which I would need for my VR headset. I don't need or want anything fancy. Is this board good or would you have another to recommend? Nothing terribly more expensive, preferably micro ATX and like I was saying type-c port would be nice. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Apr 2022 03:10 PM PDT Hi guys, I have ran into a really strange issue recently and have tried everything I can think of. Hoping someone here may have some ideas. First off the specs: CPU - i5-9600k GPU - RTX-2080 (now replaced with RTX-3070ti...) MOBO - Asus z390-f PSU - EVGA 850W G2 RAM - 16GB G-Skill Tridentz (2x 8GB) Storage - 250GB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 boot drive + 1TB Samsung 860 Evo Windows 10 I built this machine about 2 or 3 years ago and have never had any issues until last week. I have been working from home due to COVID so have been using my PC to RDP into my work machine. I often have meetings via Microsoft Teams which I have running locally as I have issues getting the mic to work over RDP sometimes. Last week during a teams meeting the call dropped out, at which point I discovered teams had crashed and would no longer open. After a few minutes the computer black screened and locked up. After a hard reset the PC would not POST anymore. At this point my first thought was GPU, as I had a similar issue once before. I removed the GPU and the PC booted up and ran. I now started having really strange issues though, I could not run any applications, chrome & edge would crash with out of memory and AVs and other generally strange behavior. The PC would also have strange artifacting and other graphical glitches (note still on integrated graphics at this point). Chkdsk and memtest both showed no obvious issues. Within a few hours the PC was unusable so I decided to do a fresh install of windows. After the reinstall everything worked perfectly. I even decided to bite the bullet and buy a new 3070ti, as I was still under the assumption that maybe that was the cause. For the next week the PC ran better than ever, until today... I was in another teams call which dropped out just like last time, teams had crashed and then the computer locked up. Tried the same as before but this time no POST with or without the GPU. It turns on, the CPU & DRAM QLEDs on the motherboard light up and go out as expected but the VGA light does not come on at all. There is absolutely no display output. I have tried resetting CMOS, moving RAM sticks around, reseating everything etc. Possible motherboard failure? Teams just a strange coincidence? My theory is the mobo failed and caused some kind of system corruption the first time, which explains why reinstalling the OS seemingly fixed the issue. The fact that the PC booted the first time only after removing the GPU, must be either a coincidence or I disturbed something on the board which brought it back to life... Sorry for the wall of text. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |

Quick motherboard question for Z690 and DDR4 Posted: 02 Apr 2022 11:41 AM PDT Would motherboard would you choose? MSI EDGE Z690 WiFi DDR4 or TUF GAMING Z690-PLUS WIFI D4? [link] [comments] |
USB 3.1 gen 2 case front port and usb 3.2 2x2 on motherboard Posted: 02 Apr 2022 01:53 PM PDT So if my motherboard has a usb 3.2 2x2 header and my case has a usb 3.1 gen 2 front port (which I know means USB 3.2 in the renaming scheme), will I get 20 Gbps out of that port if I hook it into the USB 3.2 2x2 header on the motherboard? I guess another way of asking the question is to ask: is USB 3.1 gen 2 (which is now called USB 3.2) pin compatible with 3.2 2x2 and therefore you can get the 2x2 speed of 20 Gbps by hooker the motherboard header with 2x2 into the front panel? I searched the site and saw some answers but wasn't sure if I was interpreting them right. [link] [comments] |
New built pc not giving any input. Posted: 02 Apr 2022 09:31 AM PDT On EZ Debug Led the CPU is stuck on white, it doesn't give any input we've tried HDMI and DP. We've checked almost all cables (we're pretty new to pc building so we might've overlooked something.) CPU was also overheating before at 100°C+ but we might've fixed it because some cables that weren't connected right before. (again not sure since there's no display) We've tried removing both ram and only using DIMM-A1 CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X GPU: 3060 TI 8GB RTX CPU Cooler: Masterliquid ML240L RGB V2 white edition 2x 8gb Ram Motherboard: MSI b550 PRO GAMING PSU: DQ 750W M-V2L P. S. we're a 16&15 year old, I've built one pc before and now this one together, we can't get help from experienced people right now so in hope of something here P. P. S. Kinda in a hurry because of school related issues so sorry if there's information lacking, I'll answer anything. Update: The overheating seems fixed but still the light stays on and no display. Posted: 02 Apr 2022 12:58 PM PDT So my ram is 1600mhz ddr3(6gb). I can confirm it by looking at the sticks and I have it set to 1600mhz in bios. When I use cpu-z and I go to memory, it shows uncore frequency ~1690mhz and dram frequency ~850. What does this mean? [link] [comments] |
Side mounted AIO Intake or Exhaust? Posted: 02 Apr 2022 07:58 AM PDT Pretty much title. I really want to side mount my AIO. Would it be bad for airflow if i made it a intake since i already have 4 exhausts? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Apr 2022 12:55 PM PDT Hi, I just built my first pc and turned it on but the case Fans aren't lighting up or spinning, they are molex fans so I had to use an adapter to plug it into 4 pin. The front fans are plugged into 'cha fan 2/wp' and the back one is plugged into 'cha fan 1/wp'. Can anyone help? [link] [comments] |
Just finished building my first PC - everything is working but my monitor says “no signal detected” Posted: 02 Apr 2022 12:49 PM PDT Any help for the above? My PC itself is powering on properly, and the monitor definitely works, so I'm not sure what might have gone wrong… (I have connected the monitor via HDMI if that's relevant) EDIT: Ignore me, I'm an idiot - I had my HDMI plugged into my mobo instead of my GPU. Oops! [link] [comments] |
