| App to remember or precisely set screen brightness Posted: 29 Apr 2022 09:05 AM PDT Hey all, maybe I'm a very specific case, but I like to have my screen brightness very precisely set to 1/5 (20%). I was wondering if there is an app/widget (preferably open source), that is able to rember an reset the brightness to a set value. I don't have root. Back then in Android "Ice Cream Sandwich" I could "abuse" the automatic brightness feature to do exactly that. When it was activated, the brighness went up or down depending of the surrounding situation. When it was turned off again, the brightness went back exactly to the state before turning the feature on, in my case back to 20%. Thanks in advance :-) [link] [comments] |

| Posted: 28 Apr 2022 05:45 PM PDT I tried Cx File Explorer, for some reason it lets me create new files, but not upload existing ones I also tried AndFTP, This worked well, but it won't let me see the photos I am transferring, only their filenames, which makes it difficult to upload photos when I have thousands of them on my phone. Is there a simple ftp client with minimal intrusion and ads which would let me see and transfer photos from my android phone to server? [link] [comments] |
| A OCR Document Scanning app which can create Searchable PDFs in 20+ languages, Scanne Posted: 29 Apr 2022 03:53 AM PDT MotivationLast month, I was searching for some tools to digitize a book I had what I needed was some app or something with which I could just create a PDF in which people could easily search for any piece of text just like they do with their normal ebooks… The main challenge I had was, I was too lazy to just type every word in a document. OCR apps are too buggy and I could just copy and paste from a textbox. So, I wondered whether there is some tool which could just take the images from me of the book and create a pdf that looks exact the same as the original image but the text in the image could be copied. I did a quick google without luck. That's how the motivation came… So, we created an app named Scanne for Android, with that app one could achieve this. Now, I wonder how many potential users, my app could benefit 📷 Languages Supported for OCR (Searchable PDF)-It supports major Indian languages like Bengali, Assamese, English, Hindi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Nepali, Urdu, Telugu, Sanskrit (Can be used for digitizing old textbooks) Along with these It supports major International languages too including Spanish, Danish, Russian, German, Arabic, Indonesian etc. Technology Behind Scanne-Scanne uses the same technology like other OCR based apps. But most of the other apps use the one bundled in the device by Google. But in order to support languages like Sanskrit, we just couldn't rely on that. So, we trained our own Neural Network with all these languages while keeping in mind the accuracy and speed. Now this neural network gets the text from the image and tells us at which position of the image the text is located at in the form of (x,y) and then we place that text with zero opacity at that place in the PDF. Maybe episode art? I don't even know. Even with no episodes downloaded it was using gigabytes of memory. I don't have room for that! I tried Avast, ESET, Malwarebytes, but none seem to be able to scan USB drives. I need it to safely scan and clean USB drives that might have Windows malware. One of our guests at work had some nasty malware on his USB stick. On Android, it's harmless, and one can access all files normally, but when mounted on Windows, all folders turn into shortcuts to scripts that run the malware, and files within those folders can't be accessed. You can verify the app has been taken down by visiting their website and clicking get app. The play store doesn't take you to link to download it and if you search for "whisper," it doesn't show up at all. Posted: 29 Apr 2022 04:55 AM PDT First of all, I'm not doing anything illegal, it's just that local law enforcement has a tendency seize your phone for absolutely no reason (which they are allowed to do for some reason), and also tend to not be so careful when it comes to handling personal data from seized phones. (Rumours about crypto wallets being empty.) I know the first thing they ask you to is to turn the phone off. I'm not sure if it needs to be on for them to access it with their LE tools/software, but if it does, maybe something that wipes it the next time it turns on after being activated. Guess it's a long shot and probably impossible, but something that wipes it even if the phone is turned off? Or lastly something you can activate that wipes it in X amount of time, unless you cancel it. Preferably something that's not very noticeable. [link] [comments] |

| Google Drive keeps duplicating files with Foldersync Posted: 28 Apr 2022 12:00 PM PDT Basically I want to sync whatever i have in my device folder to my Drive folder. I've selected "To remote folder" because i want the Drive folder to be a backup, so i don't want anything to be overwritten, the issue is that Drive sucks when it comes to duplicates. It doesn't make "_copy" or "copy (1)", it just make another perfect copy with a different metadata for the date. So now i have the same files, duplicated X times, and the older one are duplicated more than newer one. Am I missing something? I would like to upload newer files and if there is an older file already backed up, just skip it. Under "sync options" i have the "skip file" selected under "If both local and remote fil are modified" but i had no luck with that. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
