Am I missing out on anything by using Nova Launcher instead of One UI?

    Posted: 01 Apr 2022 07:08 PM PDT

I just got my S22 Ultra in the mail, and it was super easy to set up because I just imported all the settings and home screen layout in Nova from my OnePlus 7 Pro. There's something about getting a new phone but still having everything right where I expect it and familiar and easy to use. But I'm wondering if there are any features I'm missing from One UI that are truly awesome and worth me ditching my trusty Nova Launcher. Please no hate. I'm not a Nova fan boy. I just haven't had a Samsung device in several years and I'm genuinely curious and open to having my mind changed.

Magnetic Backing (ie. MagSafe) for S22

    Posted: 01 Apr 2022 09:24 PM PDT

    (CROSSPOST FROM R/GALAXYS22)

What's the nicest way to add MagSafe for S22? Do you have an experience to share?

MagSafe: An iPhone feature which facilitates the use of magnetic "back-cessories" while preserving wireless charging capabilities.

For non-iPhones, Amazon has a variety of magnetic "stickers" to put on the back of your phone or case to unlock the same capabilities as MagSafe. Examples:

    1. ESR HaloLock

    2. mophie snap Adapter

    3. embedded in case

These are decent options, and it's early in the game so I expect better ones to come out soon.

However, I have a beautiful sky blue S22 in a clear case, and I just don't think these fit well with it (quick drawing). What do you guys think?

    Do not disturb/silent

    Posted: 02 Apr 2022 04:23 AM PDT

I'm coming from a pixel where I used do not disturb for 90% of the time throughout the day. Never had issues with it.

However, on my S22 now, it shows the do not disturb notification on my always on display as well as in my notification panel when the phones unlocked. Is there a way to solve this? I want it to act like Samsungs silent feature does, have the icon on the right hand side, and not show as a notification. I would use th silent feature instead, but that doesn't allow my notification icons to appear in my always on display.

    Any solutions ?

do you guys use swipe controls or fixed icons at the bottom of screen?

    Posted: 02 Apr 2022 01:53 AM PDT

I'm a life long iPhone user, but had to get the s22 ultra after seeing it in a shop, so being a previous iPhone user I'm using the swipe controls but is it better to use the three icons at the bottom of the screen instead?

Solution: Reboot to recovery on OneUI 3.0+ without cable

Too many issues with the P6P, looking to get back to a Galaxy

    Posted: 01 Apr 2022 11:26 PM PDT

Alright boys, I love all of the pixel features, and it was a brave switch for me coming from only using Samsung phones (Galaxy Grand Prime, S7, S9, S20) but this phone has so many issues I really just want to go back to a reliable phone. I'm thinking of switching to either an S22+ or an Ultra. I consume a lot of media on my phone so I'm leaning towards the Ultra but part of me feels like the plus would be just fine. Then there's the flip 3 which would help me interact with my phone less, plus it's way more interesting than these slabs and they're getting pretty boring. But that battery life..

Just wanted some opinions from people who had any of these 3 phones.

Hole in the top of S22 Ultra?

    Posted: 01 Apr 2022 09:52 AM PDT

I've accidentally inserted the sim removal pin into the top mic/speaker hole all the way until it would not go any further. Then i figured out the sim card was on the bottom along another hole. Would that have damaged anything?

Edit: It seems to be an speaker hole and is not aligned with the hole. Any other information and source would be great.

    OLED or Neo QLED?

    Posted: 01 Apr 2022 09:00 PM PDT

I am currently using my PS5 on a 24" 1080p TV from 2011, time to upgrade. I want a killer HDR experience first and foremost but also good overall picture quality. I am torn between OLEDandQLED. My research suggests that QLEDs have great brightness and color range which means great HDR. However a lot of people swear OLEDs are superior TVs but it also seems like they struggle with HDR and brightness. They seem to just not be able to get as bright as QLED LCDs. I have my eye on the LG C1 OLED and the Samsung QN90A Neo QLED. I don't know what to do. Please help. I do about 75% gaming and 25% movie watching.

Samsung's 100 Google Play Gift Bonus

    Posted: 01 Apr 2022 10:21 PM PDT

I bought the S22 Ultra a few weeks ago and I just received my $100 Google Play gift card from Samsung. I don't really buy any apps or such and I'm wondering if there's a way to cash these out or to use them wisely so that they're not wasted? Thank you

    Anyone know why this works?

    Posted: 01 Apr 2022 06:29 PM PDT

I recently discovered that my Apple Pencil (second generation) works flawlessly on a Samsung galaxy S5. I've never ever seen anyone mention that or talk about that. Does the S5 have SPen support? Is it thinking it's an S pen?

    Samsung TV April fools prank

    Posted: 02 Apr 2022 12:18 AM PDT

Hi guys. I'm asking for my friend. Who sent me this message:

"I was just watching YouTube on my TV and a video was done playing but right after that, a girl with long hair that covered her face (like from the movie the ring) and the screen was all like if it was filmed in a VHS tape"

He told me it wasn't an ad, so my theory is that this is a prank made by samsung. Has anyone else encountered this? Here I'm including an image of the tv's about page. https://imgur.com/a/MRwMd5z

Samsung S22 Ultra vs Note 20 Ultra

    Posted: 01 Apr 2022 10:44 PM PDT

Is this comparison between the Note 20 Ultra and the S 22 Ultra accurate ? Apparently the Note 20 Ultra maximum brightness is as much as the S22 Ultra's outdoor ? Also, why HDR videos look way better and brighter on the Note 20 Ultra than the S 22 ultra based on this comparison ? https://youtu.be/MpkhKrI_0Mc

I can see reasons why the speakers are not as good as the previous phones but i thought that display wise the S22 ultra would be hands down the best compared to the other phones.

I'll get my S22 ultra in a few days so I'm checking some reviews on the internet while I'm waiting.

stuck in an infinite warranty loop

    Posted: 01 Apr 2022 12:31 PM PDT

I have a S21. After a couple of months the data network would drop out randomly about 6 times a day for about 20 minutes. Can still call and text. No mobile data.

Have factory reset and had it sent back three times and each time I'm told they can't diagnose the issue so can't repair or replace.

    So frustrating.

Any guide to using the S22?

    Posted: 01 Apr 2022 12:17 PM PDT

So, it's been 4 years using a Nokia 6.1, I decided to upgrade and get a S22 Ultra. It's great but I want to know everything I can do with this, all the neat features and helpful functions. Is there any guide for this type of stuff?

Hi all, I have had the Galaxy Book2 Pro for 24 hours. It's awesome! Super thin and light and the battery life is excellent. Here is a video of my initial thoughts: https://youtu.be/9aoSu4INxvE

Let me know what you want me to test. For sure I'll do Cinebench.

Tips on the S pen nib

    Posted: 01 Apr 2022 12:23 PM PDT

I got a Tablet S7+ back in the end of January and have enjoyed the experience.

Lately, however, I have noticed that the S pen sometimes seems to lag in response. I wonder if that could be a problem with the tip. This sentiment comes from the fact that sometimes I can see the lag in the line drawing as I write. Plus, sometimes it feels like my handwriting is coming out more wiggly (or less polished).

Has that happened to anyone here? If so, how did you solve it? Did you change the nib? Could the "problem" be a low-battery pen?

Also, for those who got themselves different pens that are compatible with the S7+, which one did you get and why you liked the change?

    Thanks.

I literally cannot type in a mobile game because Samsung Keyboard in landscape mode closes just because of the tiniest touch detections outside the keyboard?

    Posted: 01 Apr 2022 08:30 PM PDT

Games like Wild Rift and Mobile Legends I encounter this problem. Is this a game problem or Samsung Keyboard problem? Phones now have almost zero bezels too so that might also be the problem… But then I tried Gboard and it doesnt do this. Not super comfortable giving my typing data to Google though. It's just a super annoying, rage inducing experience when the keyboard does this.

Is the Frame 2022 That Much Better Than the 2021 Version?

    Posted: 01 Apr 2022 06:49 PM PDT

Costco has the Samsung Frame 2021 50" for $900 with a free extended 2 year warranty. Bringing the total warranty to 5 years. And the benefit of going through Costco for any issues.

The Frame 2022 50" with the extended warranty (4 year years total) is $1,400.

I've heard the 2022 screen has a matte screen that's a huge upgrade. And have seen demo videos. But curious what the general thoughts are here?

    S22 only cases

    Posted: 01 Apr 2022 03:11 PM PDT

I'm trying to find a case for my S22 - seems most people (and thus recommendations) have the Ultra or +.

I've used a clear OtterBox (for quite a while - been satisfied with drop protection but willing to look for other options) especially now as I just have matte black color so my normal clear case is no where near as interesting!

It seems you can get sturdy or fun and not much in between. I like one on dbrand, not sure what the deal is with the buttons though? Seems they added an overlay or something? I take lots of screenshots so always pressing the buttons, don't want it to be super difficult.

Casemate has one I like as well.

Kickstands are intriguing, I wonder if you can add one (like with popsockets) if the case doesn't come with one?

    Thanks for any feedback!
