Android 12 on Galaxy S20 Ultra?

    Posted: 04 Feb 2022 02:52 AM PST

I'm still thinking if I should do the update. I am currently on Android 11 and I want to know pros and cons about Android 12 and One UI 4.0 on the S20 Ultra. Is it worth it? Did you do the update? Has it affected your phone?

4+ year old Note 8 on its last days, what to upgrade too?

    Posted: 03 Feb 2022 11:13 AM PST

My beloved Note 8 is still on its original battery at launch of late 2017 but its really losing its ability to hold a charge, the AMOLED screen has got some serious burn in images and one spot was damaged from a drop despite having a case and screen protector and a black ink blob is slowy growing across the screen like a virus eating my beloved Note 8 that I took on many amazing adventures the past 4 years.

Not to mention it runs pretty slow on android auto on my new 21 RAV Hybrid limited

But soon its gonna have to be retired out of necessity as its now struggling to even dial out calls at times. I am curious about the S22 Ultra for obvious reasons, but i'm open to other suggestions that would be a big upgrade for me to last me the next few years until the covid world returns to semi normal for technology production

Coming back to Samsung/Android after almost 2 years with iPhone

    Posted: 04 Feb 2022 05:00 AM PST

    My history of phones is Moto Razr -> Moto Razr 2 -> iPhone 3Gs -> Samsung S3 -> Note 4 -> Note 7 -> S7 -> S8 -> S10 -> S10E -> iPhone 11 Pro -> Now, looking at S22 U

Note 7 kind of messed up my Note upgrade schedule, had to switch to the S line.

I went from S10 to S10e because I felt the S10 was too big. I loved the S10e, but then I got bored with it, so I wanted to try out the iPhone again. I've been using the 11 Pro these past couple of years but now I'm itching to get back to Android.

There are way too many things I miss about from Android. And over these years, my mind changed about the screen size again. I want the big screen again. I guess I just needed a break and change for a while and now I'm excited to be going back to a big screened Android phone.

I'm probably going to buy the S22 Ultra. I miss the S-Pen so much. I'm excited to see this 1700nit brightness 120hz screen. I haven't used anything about 60hz, so that'll be a change as well.

Anyone want to fill me in on what improvements or downgrades Samsung/Android has made in their phones and software since the S10 days? I know its not that long, but pretty long in tech world.

My 4 year old Samsung tv wants to change my terms and conditions for privacy today. I have no option to decline. This is ridiculous

    Posted: 02 Feb 2022 10:25 PM PST

When did it come to this?

You buy a tv and you are now subject to its change of terms and conditions indefinitely. At any time apparently Samsung TV can change its terms and conditions and I have no recourse to decline or to disprove.

I would like to decline the changes and wish to return my tv please. I didn't agree to this at the time of purchase. I did not buy this tv as a subscription.

The advertisement in my UI was forced on me too. After a firmware update 2 years ago.

This tv just makes up new rules when it likes. Press 'ok' to accept, on your remote?

Edit: it's truly worrying for me to see so many people dismiss this issue and say Karen. We are gradually allowing big tech companies to impose their terms and conditions on our lives and it is going unnoticed. From the reactions here, it is quite clear that many of the younger generation have no concept of this as an issue.

Edit2: to those people who wish to compare this to the updates on operating systems and apps. I would like to first say it is not the same thing. And secondly, at the very least, they do not force the update on you. It can be declined or dismissed and you can choose to you update at your discretion. Samsung tv automatically updates itself and you press ok to accept what it has done when you turned on your tv today.

How to get the glow only for S21?

    Posted: 04 Feb 2022 01:15 AM PST

So my white base model S21 has this thing where the edges of the phone and the logo light up when you turn on the torch. Is there a way to just have the glow of the edges/logo without turning on the torch?

Anyone else getting the runaround on refund for product under warranty that is unrepairable?

    Posted: 03 Feb 2022 03:58 PM PST

Sent a monitor to Samsung for repairs and their decision was that it was unrepairable. They offered me a full refund and I accepted it. Now they keep sending texting me:

SAMSUNG: Please visit URL within 4 days to update and confirm your information for refund request ######### or your request may be cancelled. Please call 1-800-SAMSUNG for any questions.

The page loads but there is absolutely nothing clickable or able to enter information. I call the number and they can't answer or know anything about "because its with the refunds department". They put me on hold for this refund department and they never picked up (already waited 90 minutes once). The refund department also cannot call people back.

Now Samsung took my $800 monitor, won't fix it, won't return and wont refund. What is going on? Is this happening with other people as well?

Is the 120hz issue already fixed

    Posted: 03 Feb 2022 11:55 AM PST

I can't find any thing online if this bug is already gone.

I only found that they gave an update which still had the framedrops in third party apps. So I wanna know if they fixed the 120hz issue ?

Why on earth does the 43" QN90A NEO Q-led not support 4k 120hz??

    Posted: 03 Feb 2022 07:00 PM PST

I'm so disappointed. I thought I had finally found my replacement monitor but this really kills it.

It's so unnecessary too I mean come on the 50" supports it.

It's frustrating because the 55" and 48" OLEDs are just too big.

I guess I have to wait for the 42" C2 - Something tells me Samsung will lose a lot of market share there.

Is anyone elses new S21 FE really laggy?

    Posted: 03 Feb 2022 09:17 PM PST

Ive tried it both after porting my old phones data over with smart switch and also after using a fresh factory reset with no data. It didn't make a difference, the phone is laggy either way.

This is especially noticeable in the UI and when searching for apps but its honestly pretty bad in general especially for a new phone. My S20+ was faster.

How can I fix this? Will it be solved in a firmware update or something?

Samsung music player won't play music after using YouTube app

    Posted: 03 Feb 2022 11:47 AM PST

Why is this happening? Ever since the newest update last week. The update that adds the dumb green light when ur mic or camera are on. When I open YouTube, sometimes my 3 buttons (back, home, and tabs) all dissappear. Then after they show up again, I close YouTube and open my Samsung music app, and I start a song and it won't play sound. It shows the song moving, the volume is up, but it won't make any sounds. Happens 2 out if every 5 times I open YouTube and then play music after.

    S21 FE app incompatibility?

    Posted: 03 Feb 2022 10:34 AM PST

Hi. My Samsung S21 FE doesn't work well with tiktok. If i try the who's your celebrity twin effect, it prompts, "This effect doesn't work with this device". I have tried other tiktok effects - some work and some doesn't then gives the same prompt. I've tried reinstalling the app and restarting the phone but nothing changes.

How do I make this work?

Is it worth fixing my Galaxy S10 Plus's screen for around 300 US dollars at this point, or should I just upgrade to say a Galaxy FE 21 for 500 dollars?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2022 02:47 PM PST

Long story short, my Galaxy S10 plus's screen got cracked after dropping it a few too many times, and repair costs are looking at a hefty 300 or so 😬 At that point, would I just be better off upgrading to the S21 FE for 500 (I have AT&T), or is it still worth repairing my Galaxy S10 plus's screen and keeping it for about one more year?

Why did the latest update to my galaxy s10e remove Facebook messenger?

    Posted: 03 Feb 2022 08:08 AM PST

Had some notification after it updated to android 12 saying galaxy gear is no longer supported due to something to do with oculus, needs to remove some apps. Err ok whatever, never used that.

    It removed Facebook messenger?

Are Samsung phones/ Samsung Messages getting reactions to messages?

    Posted: 03 Feb 2022 07:47 AM PST

I realize that new phones will be shipped with Google messaged as the default messaging app. But what about people with phones like the S21 series and previous?

I don't mind just downloading and switching, but there are some things I still like about Samsung Messages.

Why are my Samsung SSDs dreadfully slow?

    Posted: 03 Feb 2022 05:00 AM PST

I bought two. One that is 2TB for my computer and another 1TB 950 EVO for my laptop. After I finished cloning, I transferred all the data and so on to them using Micrium Reflect. However, I noticed that after initialization apps took significantly more time to load on my laptop, as well as slower web browsing and response time compared to the 512 SSD that I currently have. Both of the SSDs for the laptop (new one and old one) are PCIe NVME SSDs. The old one came with the laptop. I am not sure what is making it so slow. Any help is be appreciated.
