I got an email notification from Evga about a gpu queue I signed up for back in December 2020 Posted: 18 Feb 2022 02:13 AM PST I used an email that can use two different "@(name).com"'s. The one that my email defaults to is different than the one I used to make an evga profile. After a short back and forth with a rep, I was able to place an order for a 3080 FTW3 Ultra Gaming for less than $1000. Miracles do happen sometimes [link] [comments] |
Posted: 18 Feb 2022 03:03 AM PST Which is the better option for gaming? I only plan to play some games like League, Valorant, and CSGO. Probably nothing too heavy. My main concern between the two is the cores and threads. I don't know when I need more and if more means better gaming performance. I'd also want the CPU to be future-proof to some extent if that even relates to the cores and threads. Here's the planned build just in case. MSI B660 i3-12100F / i5-12400F GTX 1650 (2nd hand) 16GB 3200 RAM 1TB SSD 650w Bronze PSU Thanks for your time =) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 18 Feb 2022 02:59 AM PST Hey everyone! Sorry to bother you but I'd like to hear your advise. I finally got back my PC (I recently moved from my country) and I need to buy a new monitor. First of, I'm French, so maybe it's maybe not the same price in France than in the rest of the world, keep that in mind. Then I'm a student so I'll maybe tend to reduce my budget as long as it does not really heavily impact the quality. I have a rough budget of 450$ for both my monitor and my hard drives. I plan to get a 500 GB NVMe and a 1TB HDD, so it leaves around 300$ AT MOST for buying a good screen. I'll mostly use my computer to play games (may it be small, unaesthetic games or heavy AAA), video recording and montage, maybe some streaming at some point. Thanks for your concern! I hope my English wasn't too bad... [link] [comments] |
Replacing water with non-conductive high boiling point liquid Posted: 18 Feb 2022 03:04 AM PST Water is the best coolant between 4-95 Celsius, however water is active material though, leaking in cooling circuits is possible at the long term, and water leaking on computer is dangerous even if the water is pure and non-conductive, it could mix with some element on the electric component and became conductive then destroy the circuit, very small few Millie grams soldering resin remained could make it conductive. In terms of conductivity and electrical safety, Isopropyl alcohol IPA is very safe, it used to clean electric circuits, and non chemically active inside metal like water, however it boils at 87 Celsius, which is very possible for CPU to reach, if became gas it will break the circuit, and could become fire hazard. Ethylene glycol or propylene glycol are wide used antifreeze coolant, normally they mix with water to raise its boiling point and lower freezing point up to -40 and 126, however as pure not mixed with water they are not good coolants, but relatively safe for circuits in case of a leak, very high boiling point, and chemically safe for silicone, Aluminum and brass of the cooling circuit. To adjust for the poor specific heat of Glycol you need higher flow of the liquid, not that high if you think, normal water cooling circuit is at least 3 time higher than required, but for glycol it needs to be doubled. Build entry level gaming PC or Steam Deck - What would you choose? Posted: 18 Feb 2022 03:01 AM PST Hi, Looking for some opinions on what choice to make. I'll looking to take a step back into PC gaming and i'm debating whether to purchase an entry level gaming PC or the Steam Deck. The top of the line Steam Deck is £569 however i'd be looking to purchase the dock (assume £100) as I don't want to play handheld all the time plus some sort of controller so I can play on the couch (say £50?) which would total £719. The Entry level PC build on PC Part Picker (https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/guide/tDscCJ/entry-level-amd-gaming-build) totals £518 however i'd need to add at least one screen (£150) and Windows license (£100) along with decent KB/mouse and peripherals so eventually would total around £800+. I'm not worried about playing games at highest resolution and I don't intend to play any intense FPS or similar games, it'll mainly be offline single player games. Maybe the most taxing would be games like Control or Civ 6 but the majority would be less graphically intense games. Given the options which would you choose? Or can someone recommend a different build? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 18 Feb 2022 12:19 AM PST I'm going to be moving from the US to Canada. I wanted to ship it without taking it apart but I don't know If I trust it. How would I go about taking it apart & shipping the pieces individually or taking some of them with me in my checked luggage? Also, I'm sorry if this is a stupid question but I threw away all the packing foam that came with my monitor. How do I ship that safely as well? I have an AOC 24G2. [link] [comments] |

Hello! Might be a stupid question but... ? Posted: 18 Feb 2022 12:13 AM PST Hey guys, currently looking to upgrade my PC and I was hoping to re-use a few components but I'm a bit of a noob and I'm not confident in my knowledge to sink a couple of grand into parts to find they don't work.. SO Currently I'm running I would LIKE to upgrade to the following You may have noticed that the RAM is the same in both builds and this is because I was wondering if my new CPU/GPU would be compatible with my existing RAM and/or motherboard (motherboard is cheaper from what I can tell and I'm more willing to upgrade if anyone has any suggestions). I would really appreciate any help I can get on this! Thanks so much, everyone [link] [comments] |

My first PC build, let me know what you think Posted: 18 Feb 2022 03:08 AM PST BUDGET: 1300-1400€
FINAL PRICE: ~1350€ Would use it mainly for gaming (60fps 1080p), some music production and programming. Let me know if there are more optimal choices to be made, and what would be a good case and monitor for this build in this price range. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 18 Feb 2022 03:06 AM PST Hi everyone, i have a question that might seem a bit stupid but i recently bought 6500xt and i saw that the card has problem on pcie gen 3, im currently using a pcie gen 4 but my CPU is 5700g and doesent support pcie 4. My question is does the gpu work on pcie 3 or 4 ? [link] [comments] |
