| One plus nord 2 shuts down and restarts for no reason Posted: 29 Jan 2022 02:10 AM PST Hey Guys, I am new here, so if i did anything wrong, just lead me in the right direction So I've had my OnePlus Nord 2 since August (right after it came out) and for me it was a lot of money. Everything works fine but one thing. Every now and then during the night it just turns off and on again. And while this is also no problem, it leaves the phone wit the wrong date and time as i am also in flight mode during the night. Which leads to my alarms not going off. I know this is an oddly specific problem, but i dont know what to do about it. I already checked if the phone made an update and had to restart because of this, but it doesn't seem like it So if anyone has any suggestions, would be great [link] [comments] | ||
| Pc is saying reboot and select proper boot device Posted: 29 Jan 2022 02:40 AM PST So I use Linux and wanted to switch to windows 11 and I tried to boot it with my usb drive it didn't work. I tried to use unetbootin to use my hdd to boot it and that didn't work. Now my hard drive and usb both say reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key. [link] [comments] | ||
| Help, yahoo changed to my default browser Posted: 29 Jan 2022 02:04 AM PST So I have done a big mistake of leaving my PC to my younger sibling and now whenever I open chrome I notice it's not Google anymore and it's yahoo instead. Opening chrome keeps asking me "how do you want to open this file" as if I am trying to open an unknown extension file. I noticed it's not an extension and that other accounts on Chrome use Google so I changed my password in fears it could mean my account was hacked however it's still there. EDIT: Turns out Mcafee changed the search engine itself. Everything fine now. [link] [comments] | ||

| My little "Cursed" Desktop PC. Posted: 28 Jan 2022 05:12 AM PST For about 2 months now, I've been struggling to properly fix my little home desktop PC, the journey has been absolutely physically and psychologically taxing, that it's bringing me to the edge of just sending everything for scrap metal and saving up for a whole new rig. But I don't like giving up. Anyway, here's how it all started. I work as a customer service rep. for a small company, and I work from home on my personal computer. I had to do some temporary moving in early December to a town that's about 3 hours car ride from where I live. So of course I took my PC with me for work, and when I took it to this new temporary place, the PC worked fine for the 2 weeks I stayed there, and showed no signs of any issues. But then after the 2 weeks passed, and I went back home with my PC tucked neatly in the trunk of the car (it wasn't rattling or getting bumped left and right, it was pretty much jammed in-between bags and stuff). Once we arrived back home, I plugged the PC in and it decided to not boot up. The fans were spinning, the LEDs lit up, but nothing else was happening, no beeping, displays were dark, no response. So I took the PC to a local tech support and after some testing he came to a conclusion that it was either the CPU or the Motherboard that died, but since he didn't have any AM4 motherboards in his stock, he couldn't do a proper test to determine which one it was. Since I needed the PC badly for work, he sold me a pretty cheap and old configuration so that I can have my PC for work and in the process he replaced my DDR4 memory with DDR3 and my PSU without telling me, all of which I blame myself for not noticing soon. But also on top of that, he somehow "lost" my stock cooler for my Ryzen 5 3400G, which I was hunting him down for for about 2 weeks, until I decided I couldn't deal with the man anymore. Now, fast forward a month or so, I decided to rebuild my old PC, having had my old Motherboard and CPU sitting on my shelf (I tried reaching out to 3 or 4 different tech supports to see if they could test them out and see which of the two actually works, but surprise... NONE of them have AM4 Motherboards to test it out...). I decided to buy a new motherboard myself, Asus PRIME A320M-K, the same one I already had that was probably broken. I built the rig through and through properly, made sure all my connections were on point, and everything was in it's place. Plug the power cable, press the power switch... No signs of life, fans aren't spinning, LEDs aren't powering on, nothing... During troubleshooting I took out the CPU and noticed that one of the corner pins was actually broken, completely missing. So I guess at least that solved the question "Does the CPU work?". I also reached out to the store where I bought the MB to see if I can send the MB back to them and have it replaced as it has a warranty. I also bought a new CPU (Ryzen 5 2600, if anything it'll be a step up from the 3400G). And now I wait. And while I wait, I would seriously VERY much appreciate any experts input here, any kind of possible support, because I'm kind of running out of ideas here, and the amount of money I invested already, getting a whole new PC would be out of the question at this point. Thank you if you read all of this up at this point, but just in case... TLDR: After a 3 hour drive with the PC stuffed into the trunk of the car, it wouldn't boot up (LED's lit up, fans spinning, but no display). One (conniving and thieving) technician determined that it was either the CPU or MB, but couldn't properly test it out because he didn't have the proper MB. A month later I bought a new MB deciding to get to the bottom of the thing myself, but the PC wouldn't power up at all now, and I noticed that one of the pins on the CPU was broken. Waiting for a new CPU and in the process of replacing the new MB in case it's not working. Could use ANY kind of help or support as well! EDIT: I left a 1 star review on the website for the tech support that wronged me by "losing" my CPU fan and replacing my RAM and PSU without telling me. And I actually got a phone call about 2 hours after from their boss apologizing and promising to do anything they can as long as I change my review, and they'll give me the money I spent on buying the new CPU fan. | Skyworth Smart TV/Monitor - Having Issues Displaying Text Posted: 28 Jan 2022 08:16 AM PST Text has a halo around it, and despite tweaking zoom settings and GPU settings, nothing seems to work. No information comes up about this brand (it came with my place and is supposedly 2K?) Android mode and watching content on other apps are fine, but using an HDMI cord leads to a somewhat fuzzy or jagged(antialiasing) display when it comes to text. It has a PC mode which I'm currently using. My friend told me its because its a television, which makes sense, but I thought I would ask on this subreddit to see if it could possibly be something else Display Information: 32E10 Serial: 2050224U-00756 It seems a bit better now that I've switched it to automatic instead of full screen but would like to be able to edit and design without worrying about pixels. | My college laptop isn't turning on :o Posted: 28 Jan 2022 01:37 AM PST so my dynabook laptop isn't turning on? it gets to the first dynabook loading screen with the dots going in a circle but the dots just freeze in place and that's it. the only reason I can think of is last night I turned it off by the power button -- but just because I couldn't click on the power options in the windows menu to switch it off, I tried with both mousepad and separate mouse, neither worked so that really was my only option. this is my college laptop they gave me, it has all my coursework on it so I kinda need this to work. | Toshiba Hard Drive restored out of no where. Recovery possible? Posted: 27 Jan 2022 08:48 PM PST To sum things up, my Toshiba hard drive doesn't connect to my mac. Well, it does, but only in the Disk Utility app and it shows up as if it's been restored. The hard drive was encrypted so I knew something was wrong after a couple of minutes of waiting for the pop up asking for the password to show up and it never did. I opened up Disk Utility and that's where I see that the drive shows up there and shows as the 4TB max all available. Is it possible to recovery my files even though the drive doesn't even show up in Finder and in Disk Utility shows up as brand new? I saw a recovery tool called 4DDIG and am also considering going to a specialist but if I can just do it on my own on my mac it'd be more ideal. Could I use a recovery tool to do all this? Will I need a new drive to be able to recovery the files to or will I be able to recover them onto the same drive? Thanks! [link] [comments] | ||

| I need Sherlock homes of tech support... Posted: 27 Jan 2022 08:17 PM PST I have about medium experience with hardware; and albeit im curious; and still learning, the following made no sense. Today I replaced my cooling unit; as it was having some bubly sounds, and decreasing its heat cooling. I also replaced sata cables from my PSU to my HDD; as the previous cables had damage to their locking mechanism. After installing the cooling unit, and connecting the sata cables from my PSU to my 2 SSD disks and a HDD; the machine boots up fine; cooling is 100 % good; and life WAS good at that point. But during the next 20 minutes ;I realised I did not see my 2 other drives. I then found out; that 2 of the 3 HD has been smelling burnt; of course I pour water over my whole computer (not); Now here is the plot twist. 1 SSD smells good (no toasty smell ) ( also had old OS); does not work; but sometimes now read in a docking station; but going warm so I am not testing it to much. 1 SSD smells toast; but works... (it now runs the new OS) 1 HDD; smells toast, does not even fire up. (also contains A LOT of data; and was my main drive for photos to games to film; and it HURT not knowing what I lost alone there. So my question sis this. and its a 2 parter. What should i do ? Why am I so unlucky? okay lets make it 3; And why did this possible happen? the PSU has 850 capacity; it does not smell burned or similar. the new SATA cable is a 6 pin to 5 split sata for my HDD; (or whatever its named) Also there is confusion as why some really are smelly burnt; and are working; and some smells clean showered human; and is not even working.; how could something like this happen?; I hope to replace the circuit board on the big hard drive; but I am afraid maybe it wont do any good (?) Any tips; both for the hardrives and reasoning here; Can the hard rives be saved (if I transfer the bios chip of course also) or would it all be burned and not usable? [link] [comments] |
