I have a lot to school and personal files on it, as well as a gamut of emulation stuff on there as well. The other day I tried a restart because it wasn't running smoothly, and it just refused to boot past the spinning dots stage. Eventually I tried a factory reset but I distinctly checked 'keep your files'. It made it to the installation phase then promptly froze. I tried again and it eventually did the whole process again, but lo and behold, all the files I'd tried to keep were gone. What do you guys think the chances of any data recovery is? | Laptop Discrete Graphics Question - I don't see the Discrete GPU being used at all Posted: 02 Jan 2022 05:05 AM PST I've read that this issue is asked by a variety of owners of different manufacturers and models. I have a Dell XPS 15 with both Intel UHD and Nvidia 3050Ti. Regardless of whether I set Auto or use Nvidia only I only ever see the Intel card show any "activity" in Windows and in HWMonitor. In one online post I read that is because laptop discrete graphics differ from desktop and are more like co-processors for the integrated graphics. Therefore, it will always show that the integrated graphics are doing the work even when both are working. Is this true? The Nvidia card is detected and shows normally in Device Manager. Both integrated and Nvidia drivers are updated and Nvidia Control Manager also detects the 3050Ti. I just want to know how I can make sure the Nvidia is actually working. Thanks. | Posted: 02 Jan 2022 04:01 AM PST since about a month ago I started having the problem of having the fn keys always on and making the hotkeys totally useless unless I press the fn key (already tried fn lock it did nothing) and I was annoyed but I was starting to get used to it but then I got another problem that makes the keyboard always active like on tablet mode, can't put it in my lap and draw (the reason I got the Ideapad 5) and I been trying for about 2 weeks trying to find a way to fix it but I haven't found anything if anybody reads this please help I have been searching for a long time [link] [comments] | ||

Everything else is working well, except there's an unusual sound I hear when typing on the left side of my keyboard -- it sounds a bit like the keys are hitting small metal pieces or tiny springs. I just received my laptop today but when i tried turning it on, it wont even though I've been holding the power button for more than 20 seconds now. | Posted: 02 Jan 2022 01:33 AM PST I recently got a Lenovo Ideapad 3 with 8gb of ram and an i5 1035G1 processor. It's brand new and with nothing opened it runs with 38% memory use. I was having issues with 100% disk space at all times so I reinstalled windows 10 and that seemed to fix it. The problem is that when an app like chrome is opened it can take almost 30 seconds to open and even when fully loaded it lags for a while whenever a search bar is clicked on or a new page is loaded. I had a laptop with a much lesser processor that opened everything instantly and had no issue with lag whatsoever. Does anyone know a cause for this? [link] [comments] | ||

I just bought my laptop and am trying to now do this. However, he COMPLETELY lost me when he said "Download Macrium Reflect on ANOTHER computer." Why would you download the program on another computer besides the new one you just bought? That makes no sense to me! But I do have another laptop. I cracked the screen….I removed and saw that it had the camera integrated into the top of the screen. I ordered one that supposedly was a matching part but it came just as the screen with no integrated camera on top…they told me I had to order the bezel separately but that doesn't sound right.
