Is it possible to install only Minecraft on LTSC 21H2 without Microsoft store? Posted: 01 Jan 2022 10:22 PM PST The Microsoft version of Minecraft required 1903 iirc so it wasn't possible to install it on LTSC until LTSC 2021 came out a few months ago. Is it possible to install only Minecraft without also installing the Microsoft store? I can install both, but I would be interested in skipping the store in order to keep LTSC as bare-bones as possible. I tried it standalone, but ran into some errors that I don't know how to fix. I am wondering if anyone has done it or knows of a way? Thank you. [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Jan 2022 01:50 AM PST I just love the windows spotlight wallpapers and I was wondering if they could also make it possible for desktop wallpapers. So like everyday it would change when you unlocked your device. [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 Jan 2022 04:19 AM PST What's the difference between Windows ME and 2000? I searched on the internet, but due to the fact that both systems are similar and came out more or less at the same time, it's hard for me to find information. Anyone help me answer the question? Posted: 02 Jan 2022 02:02 AM PST Coming form a Mac, this is really really bad! Looks like it's a printed paper, printing with a very bad printer. Think even Linux offers a better font system. This is on a Full HD monitor with 100% scaling. Cleartype adjustment does not make it any much better. Tried MacType as well, it just affects fonts on file explorer. No changes in browsers and other apps. Anyone have some tips to make it easy on my eyes? [link] [comments]
Reset my windows 10 without touching files Posted: 01 Jan 2022 09:36 PM PST I'm probably regretting it, laptops working faster now and some other issues were resolved but eh. Anyway, the first time I setup windows on here, it wanted me to enter my Microsoft account in the setup and stuff like my synced wallpaper were there later. This time, having reset it without touching files, the profile picture of my MS account (which should be there) does not appear in places like my literal account page in settings. While this doesn't matter at all and is an easy fix, what else could have not integrated properly because of the reset? I'm thinking of just backing up everything to onedrive and an external hard drive just in case and fully resetting it to be sure. Advice? [link] [comments]
I think the Microsoft Store app should be a winget wrapper. Thoughts? Posted: 01 Jan 2022 05:16 PM PST I think every store app should be installable via winget, and the store GUI app should just be a winget wrapper. Thoughts? [link] [comments]
Does anyone have some old Windows XP key I can use? Posted: 01 Jan 2022 04:08 PM PST Does anyone have any Windows XP keys that they don't use anymore? I heard some people give those away for free so if anyone's up for that, then that would be cool. I'm getting some old PC and wanted to run Windows XP. So, PM me if you're feeling generous to give me one of those keys. It wouldn't be piracy if someone's giving it to me, okay rules. [link] [comments]
When are we expecting the next-gen CPU for Windows? Posted: 01 Jan 2022 01:38 PM PST Apple released the M1 chip in 2020 which will probably be used for many years on new Apple pc and tablets, and it seems to be faster than almost all high-end CPUs for Windows. Will Windows get anything like it or does the Windows architecture make it so that Windows laptops can't use something like the M1 chip? I get why gaming laptops work best with Intel or AMD CPU that we have today when also having a GPU, but wouldn't ultrabooks without GPU work much better with a chip like the M1? Where can I get the ISOs of older versions of Windows? Posted: 01 Jan 2022 01:42 AM PST Since Microsoft now only keeps Windows 8.1, 10 and 11's ISOs on their official website, is there a way to get the ISOs for, say, Windows XP or Vista or 7? There are plenty of websites but they seem pretty suspicious. Is there a safe website that distributes older versions of Windows? I know about winworldpc.com and they're good but they only have stuff below XP. [link] [comments]
Windows 11 - Airpods Max - wird buffering/lag on YouTube Posted: 01 Jan 2022 12:39 PM PST So, I connected my Airpods Max via Bluetooth, everything works with no problems, the one only weird thing I am experiencing is that when I play a video on youtube it plays with NO AUDIO and BUFFERS for some second before the audio starts to play. Any ideas? [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Jan 2022 08:37 AM PST Alrighty so I was just going about my own business and my PC went to a blue screen and gave me an error code, BAD_BOOT_SECTOR or something of that nature. I'm sure this path sounds all too familiar to some folks here. After this, it reset several times, attempting to repair itself but then told me it was unsuccessful. It seems I am stuck going the route of "reset this PC" So, here lies my questions. Currently I have an unregistered version of Windows 10 Pro installed which hasnt given me any issues in the several years I've been using it. I have a legitimate copy of Windows 10 Home that I would like to install. Also worth mentioning, this computer has 4 hard drives. What would you guys recommend I do to get this running again but retain all of my personal files? Edit: After getting home from work today and testing my luck, I am consistently getting "Bad System Config Info" as my error upon booting. Does this change the story? [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Jan 2022 12:22 PM PST When collecting versions of Windows, What order do you guys think is best to start collecting? Upvote: Windows 95 upward Comment: Windows 10 downward [link] [comments]
App showing folders and viewing text files at the same moment Posted: 01 Jan 2022 07:29 AM PST I need an application that shows on the left side folders and on the right side allows you to read / edit text files (better if even in Word format). The idea is that of two classic boxes, therefore, a bit like Windows Explorer, but in which the preview pane will also show text files and not just images. [link] [comments]
How is it 2020 and we still cannot have an animated desktop background image? Posted: 31 Dec 2021 11:02 PM PST It's a minor complain perhaps, but I'm seriously wondering why this is so? Just got through installing Wallpaper Engine so I can actually have a lovely animated background for once. What has Microsoft been doing for the last 45 years now? Stop losing money on Xbox games and actually work on perfecting Windows from scratch every 10 years or so. Windows 10 has certainly been a step forward but the system is failing in little ways, and it's strange that tiny pain-points haven't been addressed for decades now. It seems like Windows is now such a monolith that they couldn't re-write it from scratch if they even tried, yet seems like Windows should've been re-written in module form long, long ago so it could be perfected in piecemeal rather than turned into a giant spaghetti-code system that cannot be maintained or fixed because no one even has access to the source-code enough to fix these things. How honestly hard would it have been to put animated gif or video support into the desktop background function literally decades ago. [link] [comments]
