Posted: 28 Jan 2022 12:11 AM PST I've been using mac for 7 years, at first i was amazed by OSX yosemite's new design and how inuative Macos was back then, but year after year I the unconsitent and lackluster updates from apple made me switch. Currently on Windows 11 and I love it. Its way better, just a simple thing as window snapping does not even exist in macos (dont tell me about non functional 3d party apps). litteraly the majority of macos users are pressing the "minimalistic" "well designed" resize button in 2022. Macos was awesome cause it had brew for developers , now there is WSL2 wich is essentially better. Macos used to be better in encryption, well now bitlocker is pretty much up there. Windows now have pretty good touch screen support wich eliminates the benefits the ecosystem had with the Ipad Spotlight search is not so far ahead with Windows 11 search and powertools. Gaming will probably never be good at Mac. I think its time for Apple to understand that just cause you dont game 24/7 does not mean you dont game at all. plenty of developers want to fire up a game once or twice a week while enjoying it at its fullest. Final cut used to be the best video editing tool before DaVinci Resolve got viral, still personal preference tho. Simple small things that put me off like finder in macos, its litterally been the same since windows XP with small design updates. Macos used to be way better with viruses and security, im not sure I can say that today, windows has come a long way with the built in antivirus. The only real thing that I can think of is Privacy, but then you are also trusting Apples claims that they care abot you, while having public like employees litterly listening to your siri requests. 980 Pro NVME issue seems resolved on latest KB Posted: 27 Jan 2022 05:08 PM PST Samsung released a firmware update for the 980 pro this week which didn't fix my write speed (I updated today). Installing KB5008353 seems to have brought my write speeds up: [link] [comments]

Win 10 win 11 shared profile clock issue Posted: 28 Jan 2022 12:16 AM PST Strange one... I have users who have Windows 19 roaming profiles but also log into windows 11 machines. Everything works fine except one annoyance... If they log into win 11 and then the next time they log into win 10, the clock and volume icons dissappear from notifications tray on windows 10 only. They have to manually re enable them which is a pain. Is there a script that can re enable them on login without having to reboot to apply? [link] [comments]

Will an ssd with win10/progs/docs work on another pc temporarily? Posted: 27 Jan 2022 03:34 PM PST I have to format my laptop after 5-6 years (i3, 8gb ram, 2gb gfx, it's a low end basic laptop) but because I need to keep using it, I do not want to stop and spend a weekend (if not more) re-installing everything and re-applying every single setting. this would require preparation to track down every single setting and tweak (impossible to remember everything after 5-6 years), note it, save all my documents i want to keep and then do a traditional format. it's an automatic no-go So the question is: can I boot my current ssd with windows 10 and all my programs, documents and their settings to a mini pc, continuing being able to use everything I usually use, in order to add a new ssd to the laptop and start re-installing everything? (at a slow pace, at my convenience, regardless of the time it will take but without me having to do anything tedious, while slowly passing all settings from one drive to the other while both work) or alternatively by getting a new ssd and installing a fresh copy of win10 and drivers, is it possible to load the previous drive with everything on a virtual machine on the laptop as host? (I have a ssd/hhd caddy instead of the dvd drive, so I can have two ssds on the laptop) [link] [comments]
