    How often do you upgrade your PC?

    Pc wont shut down

    When ever I click shutdown the screens turn off for a split second then turn right back on. Same story when I press the power button. Only way to shut it down is to hold the power button down for like 5 seconds. Any fix for this?

    Best looking and performing cpu air cooler?

    I'm looking rn to buy a new cooler for my cpu (Rn I own a amd wraith prism). Not only the performance matters, but also the aesthetics are important for my build!

    If it's relevant, my cpu is a 3800x, gpu is a RTX 3080

    My pc turns on for around 15 seconds and then shuts off and so on in a loop. but there's no video output and my keyboard and mouse don't turn on. I think it's a bios issue but not sure. I've tried taking out the CMOS battery and putting it back in. I've also tried resetting bios by using CMOS jumper. I haven't tried replacing cmos battery yet.

    My PC never stays shut down

    I am going crazy. I tried everything from resetting the bios, disabling wake on lan, removing all the peripherals and lan cable to changing the whole case in case of a faulty power button.

    I also disabled fast startup in windows but I don't think the problem is os related

    I even made sure of the arrangement of the small pins that connect the case power button/reset / LEDs etc into the motherboard.

    I don't know what to do!! I have to remove the power cable from the PC each time I want it to stay off which is so inconvenient . Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Ps it's an old PC running with an Asus h97i plus motherboard, an i5 4690 and an Rx 580.

    Edit: tried using my PC on another power outlet in a different room and the problem persists

    Update: solved by reflashing the latest motherboard bios, thank you everyone for pitching in

    ryzen 5950x + rtx 2060 help?

    Can anyone help me with figuring out whether I should upgrade my processor to the 5950x although I am unable to get a new graphics card right now? Will the new processor certainly help on warzone and other large games or will the potential bottlenecking between the 5950x and the rtx 2060 nullify any or all improvements from the processor upgrade ?

    gtx 1080 vs gtx 1080 ti

    I want to buy a gpu and I am between gtx 1080 and gtx 1080 ti. The CPU I am planning to buy is Ryzen 5 5600x. The 1080 is cheaper but do you think it underperform a lot compared to the ti?

    Separating OS and Storage on separate drives still a thing?

    Is keeping the OS on a smaller SSD still recommended / best practice? I recall reading somewhere there are potential performance issues by having everything on the same drive, as well as reducing the longevity of the SSD.

    Or is this really not an issue anymore?

    Friend helped picked parts for PC, need review and advice

    So tech has never been my forte but my friend has his own PC, so I asked him for help
    and he sent me the following.

    Can someone check it and offer some review/advice on whether its good or some changes re needed.
    I asked him specifically that i wanted more than 1 core because i wanted a gaming PC. For context i am trying to upgrade for FFXIV Endwalker. I figure hey lets make something strong from the start that can last me a while. I said my budget was 2000. I can go higher but why do that you know.

    I currently game on these specs:

    Intel i5-9300H

    GTX 1650

    16 GB DDR4 RAM @ 2667mHz

    I am planning to buy a new PC with these specs:

    Intel i5-7600

    GTX 1080-Ti

    32 GB DDR4 RAM @ 2400mHz

    I know the CPU is more or less the same, with maybe a slight edge on the new one, but what about everything else? any cause for concern?

    Need some help

    I have just built my first pc. Everything turns on and works but I can get any display. I have reset my monitor and restored my bios to factory setting and still nothing. What am I missing? My build is msi b550 gaming edge, ryzen 9 5950x, cool master 212 RGB black edition, m.2 Samsung 900 1tb, evga 750 GA 750w gold, and gigabyte 3060 oc 12g. How can I get my display working?

    Upgrade or get a new computer?

    I got this computer 4-5 years ago to get into playing games. Mostly Star Wars Battlefront and have put way to many hours in on it having more fun than I rightfully should have. The computer has been great.

    I would like to get to a much higher refresh rate (144hz?) for the smoothness. Question is, can I just upgrade the video card? What else will I need to upgrade? What do I need to upgrade too? Will it work with what I have? etc . . . all those questions. Seems like cards are so expensive I will run into the same situation as last time and it is cheaper to just get a prebuild with a fancy card in it. Your wisdom is much appreciated.

    Custom Side Panel with extra case fans

    Hey everyone,

    I'm putting together a lexan side panel for my gaming PC to replace the tempered glass one. This will allow me to machine it however I please, and I'd like to add some side fans to improve airflow through the GPU radiator and CPU AIO, but I'm unsure of the best configuration. I have enough room to mount at least 3 extra fans(overkill, but it gives me a fun project to do), and I can place them anywhere within the green box as seen in 3rd picture of the attached link. I drew where I was thinking of placing the 3 extra fans, all as intakes. Any opinions or naysayers? Not sure what configuration would knock temperatures down the most.

    Purchase advice regarding intel CPU

    I'm upgrading from a 10400f. I need a bit more processing power. I don't do anything crazy at most I use unity for VR dev but even then it's more of a hobby.

    I already have a z490 board. I found a brand new 10850k for 300 bucks. I wanted to get. 12700k but the processor is +150 over the 10850k and I would need another mother board 200ish. With the 10850k I just need to get a better cooler (fuma 2 65 bucks).

    So my question is this. Is the 12700 going to be worth the extra ~300 bucks or so?

    Is this a good Pc?

    Hello,

    I am looking to get into pc gaming and I currently no little to nothing about it. I want to be able to play games like tomb raider, forza horizon, gta rp, etc. I will be playing the games in 1080p and would just like to be atleast 60 fps so nothing crazy. I found this pc : (Windows 11 Home 64 Plus AMD Ryzen™ 5 5600G (3.9 GHz up to 4.4 GHz , 16 MB L3 cache, 6 cores) 16 GB DDR4-3200 SDRAM (2 x 8 GB) 256 SSD storage 1 TB HDD storage NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1660 Super (6 GB GDDR6 dedicated) ) and it seems to be solid for its price and I was wondering what others who know more about PCs think. It's a HP Pavilion and is going for $860.

    Finding DDR5 RAM in the UK?

    PC Started Stuttering in Game

    Hey Everyone! Long time lurker, first time poster. So I built a PC in 2017/2018 and have just recently started to run into some problems. Everything was running fine until about a month ago when I started seeing stuttering in game. The main thing I play is Rocket League, so the stuttering has become a pretty big problem in terms of gameplay.

    When does the stuttering occur?Mainly in online games. Offline free play I don't see the stutter much.

    What have I done to troubleshoot?

    • Turned off EIST in the BIOS
    • Reduced settings to minimum
    • Reduced framerate from 165 Hz to 60 Hz
    • Tried plugging PC straight into the wall rather than my power strip to see if it was a power issue

    As near as I can figure it's not a hardware issue. There's potential for it to be a connection issue, but when I play my Ping hovers between 20-30 and my PC is connected via Ethernet cable. In the last 2-3 months I did start using a new router (TP-Link Tri-Band 12-Stream AX11000), but the stutter is new as of a month ago and the same number of devices are hooked up to my WiFi network.

    Any thoughts or things I can try?

    Overheating.

    Quick question. My pc is majorly thermal throttling under no load. From boot the pc climbs to 90 degrees Celsius in a matter of seconds. There is no hot air coming from any of the exhaust and the AIO is pulling in cold air. Any suggestions?
