Looking for a Cross Platform app like ColorNote

    Posted: 30 Oct 2021 07:57 PM PDT

Back up is a bit hard to do on this app. And going from Android to IOS makes it more complicated. Kinda hoping for a cross platform app that can take notes and password lock a note. IOS color note doesn't sync and is pretty crap.

Google Keep cant password protect notes. Any suggestions??

Moving files around is surprisingly hard>?

    Posted: 30 Oct 2021 03:27 PM PDT

So I'm trying to organize my phone (Google Pixel 3a XL), and I want to move all of my mp3s and such from the generic "Downloads" folder to the designated "Music" folder in internal storage. When I select more than one file, the only prompts available to me in the "More" menu (the 3 horizontal dots in the upper right) are Select All / Add to Favorites / Move to Safe Folder / Back up to Google Drive. When I select a single item, I have more choices but none of them are "Move" or "Copy"

My path to get to where I am is: Files -> Downloads -> (selecting individual songs).

The extra frustrating part is that it seemed to be working for a hot second - I successfully moved about 400 songs to the internal storage Music folder, where my music playing app can access them. Then the Move option just disappeared as far as I can tell.

Sorry if I've forgotten any important info, please let me know if you need other details. Cheers!

    Secure folder causing Bluetooth issues

    Posted: 30 Oct 2021 10:38 PM PDT

(Samsung Galaxy a50) After months of Bluetooth devices disconnecting constantly only on this phone, after reflashing the firmware I finally realized the issue, and it's secure folder. I use secure folder for, reasons, so is this known or anything? In a fourm someone mentioned it may be due to the contacts app, but idk how to disable it though adb. Is this a known issue?

Android 12, Google Pixel 6 Pro, fully updated.

Anyone know how to fix this bug? If I click reply in a notification, after unlocking the phone it makes me open the notification drawer again before I can reply.

    Nearly every app is failing

    Posted: 30 Oct 2021 08:58 PM PDT

Trying to fix my mom's tablet, a Galaxy Tab A (2016) with latest software. It was running out of space, so I went on there and set many apps to use SD space, cleared many caches, and made about 4 GBs free, best I could seem to do. But now, in spite of uninstalling and reinstalling some apps, the vast majority won't stay open. The tablet seems practically unusable.

(Pixel 6 Pro) Audio not stopping other Audio sources

    Posted: 30 Oct 2021 12:06 PM PDT

    Hello,

In previous Android phones I've had, switching audio sources automatically halted the previous audio source. For example, if I was watching a YouTube video and started a song on Spotify, it would halt the video I was playing. If I switched from Spotify to a podcast app and played one, Spotify would stop. If a call came in, my audio would automatically pause.

With my new Pixel 6 Pro, none of these are happening. The audio is just playing over each other in a jumbled mess. I did some Googling, but I'm terrible at phrasing questions and didn't see any useful information. Having never had this issue before, I'm unsure how to solve it. Any recommendations would be fantastic. Thanks in advance!

Edit: Looks as though the issue I have is with something called "Audio Focus". The apps are not requesting focus from one another and just playing over each other. I found this article, but I really don't know if it helps as I don't understand a majority of what it means. https://developer.android.com/guide/topics/media-apps/audio-focus

Hopefully this helps anyone who's trying to help me out with this, you've been generous so far and I am grateful for you all!

Can I Download Old Conversation From Someone Else's Phone?

    Posted: 30 Oct 2021 07:56 PM PDT

To make a long story short, I deleted a text conversation I wish I hadn't and want to get it back. Best I can tell, it's deleted for good and so recovery is out of the question. I was wondering if it would be possible to download my friend's copy of our conversation. If so, what would the process look like?

Thanks for any advice y'all have <3

Redmi note 10s calls ring for a long time before showing the screen where i can answer it or decline.

    Posted: 30 Oct 2021 03:46 PM PDT

Basically the title. When somebody calls my phone, whether thru messenger or sim, my phone keeps on ringing but doesn't immediately show the window/screen that displays the caller's name and option to answer it or reject the call. Is this normal for miui 12.5? Any fix for this?

Best lightweight OS for slow Android tablet?

Weird partial factory reset / data wipe

    Posted: 30 Oct 2021 06:38 PM PDT

    I have a Huawei Mate 20 Lite with OS10.

I went to sleep and woke up, looked at my phone and a weird type of factory reset or random data wipe happened it seems.

I still have my old screen saver and my gallery has all of the photos and videos. Even weirder the preinstalled apps are still in a folder I created on the Home Screen before the reset, a custom folder. And I it's also already connected to my Wi-Fi.

But other than that it looks like a factory reset, I have none of my apps and all phone settings have been set to default.

I'm not sure what happened and why do I still have some things from before.

I looked in updates and it's on the same update it was before this happened.

After about 20 minutes now I can't open the drawer (swipe from top to down), Home Button and Recents buttons have also disappeared.

What could cause this and is there a way to restore my phone ?

    Android VPN Settings

    Posted: 30 Oct 2021 06:33 PM PDT

In the VPN settings, what is the difference between:

    • Always-on VPN
    • Block connections without VPN

I find that enabling the second one mucks up a lot of connection to local devices

Is having only the first one enabled and using the kill switch on VPN app (Surfshark) sufficient?

Why are the summary Pages for a growing number of Android apps, not showing the last date that they were updated?

    Posted: 30 Oct 2021 12:34 PM PDT

I thought the date showing the last time they were updated with the latest version, would have here on all Android apps pages on the Google Play service.

Now I'm starting to NOT see that on the app pages. Why is the date of the last update not showing up on a growing number of app Pages anymore?

Just upgraded to Android 12 on a Pixel 3XL-A Question

    Posted: 30 Oct 2021 06:18 PM PDT

I just upgraded my Pixel 3XL to Android 12. It seems pretty nice but one "gotcha" jumped out and bit me. On Android 11, I used to be able to swipe up and get a series of screens with ALL of my apps shown. Apparently that no longer works the same way. I normally throw my frozen pizza in the oven and swipe up to where I can open the clock app and set a timer. Since I don't have an icon on the "desktop" for the clock, I figured it was just as easy to do it the way I'd been doing since Android 10.. Discovered I couldn't just swipe up and see all my apps anymore with a pizza in the oven. Fortuantly the stove had a timer function.

How do I get to the "all apps" screens now on Android 12???

Android 12: no sound/beep at the end of end call

    Posted: 30 Oct 2021 03:46 PM PDT

    Hey everyone,

After upgrading my Pixel 4A 5G to Android 12 I realized the end call sound/beep stopped working. I'm using a bluetooth headset and find myself often times talking to myself because I don't realize the call ended due to network issues or simply by mistake. I bought a Pixel 6 and see it behaves exactly the same.

Is this is a feature or a bug?

EDIT: Sorry about the confusing title, I'm too tired I guess.

    Cheers!

Convert uploaded Google Photos from original size to storage saver?

    Posted: 30 Oct 2021 04:47 AM PDT

There used to be an option to do this with previously uploaded photos.

Am I just looking in the wrong place or was the option removed? Is it done automatically?

Verify if our google account is labeled as adult

    Posted: 30 Oct 2021 02:48 PM PDT

I've sent my credit card info because google said they "changed some of my parameters" and asking me to validate my age otherwise.

I gave my credit card info. (it was a few months ago and a genuine mail from google)

But I wondered if there were a way to actually display whatever google labeled my account as? either adult or minor.

I don't remember if I received an email for confirmation and I'd like to actually see the current status.

    thank you

Are port covers on cases even needed anymore?

    Posted: 30 Oct 2021 08:14 AM PDT

It seem nowadays that cases aren't made with the charger port cover and headphone jack covers anymore. I've always bought otter boxes for that reason, but it seems otter box only makes cases for Apple and Samsung now. Are the port covers not needed anymore? I work construction and dont wanna buy a nice case without the port cover and really screw myself later on.

Do different Android OS handle WiFi different? I have a problem with Wi-Fi on my Poco X3 Pro.

    Posted: 30 Oct 2021 01:27 PM PDT

    Hello!

I work in an office. And our office has a really long floor. Every few meters there is a Wi-Fi Access Point, one of these Cisco Business Access Points. I noticed that whenever I move away from the connected Access Point, it will automatically connect to another closest Access Point, WHICH results into not having access to internet. But Wi-Fi is still connected. Temporarily fix: Turn on/off Wi-Fi. But I have to do this 834873483x a day.

It sounds weird but this has something to do with POCO phones, but never happened to any Xiaomi/Redmi device I owned. I owned the Mi 9T (had different phones of it) and used Stock ROM and Pixel Experience, Note 8 Pro, Redmi 4a and never had any issues with it.

However, I had 3x POCO phones: Poco M3, Poco X3 NFC and Poco X3 Pro. Every Poco phone has this issue with Wi-Fi + I can't charge any of it with the Lenovo Dockingstation. With Xiaomi/Redmi phones no problem.

I want to know if I could fix this problem by installing Pixel Experience, but I want to make sure before it is worth to sacrifice banking apps and Google Pay.

Pixel 3a touchscreen stops working when phone is dropped.

    Posted: 30 Oct 2021 01:17 PM PDT

Hey, weird issue, not sure how to fix. Waiting for my Pixel 6 Pro to show up so at the moment I have no working phone, rather annoying.

About a month ago I dropped my phone and when I picked it up it showed no visible signs of damage but the screen was off. I restarted it, the screen came on, but the touchscreen didn't work. I eventually fixed this by going into Rescue Mode, which made the touchscreen work again. This happened again later when the phone fell again and the fix was the same.

I updated to Android 12 yesterday and the phone fell today. Same issue, but the fix doesn't work now. "Rescue Mode" just goes to the screen with the Android robot and the "No Command" message. "Recovery Mode" does the same thing. Phone loads fine, screen is fine, but touchscreen doesn't work.

Anyone have any ideas how to fix this? Thanks!

    Apps not connecting over WiFi

    Posted: 30 Oct 2021 01:15 PM PDT

As the title says, various apps- from YouTube and YT Music to the Boost Reddit client- will often not connect to the internet until I either switch the phone's WiFi off and let them connect via cell, or switch on a VPN (usually Windscribe). Browsers seem unaffected by this- both Brave and Vivaldi can access Reddit just fine, even while Boost is sitting and spinning.

I've made sure every app on the phone is up to date, and the OS just updated from Android 11 to 12 yesterday. I've also tried forgetting and reconnecting to the home router, and I've made sure the phone isn't treating that connection as metered.

Oddly enough, this only seems to affect MY phone- my parent's Android phones have not had this issue (mine is a Pixel 3A, and I think theirs are Pixel 4s). And my Windows machines (one of which I'm typing this on) are just fine. It does, however, only seem to happen on the home WiFi, tho I suppose I could test this next time I'm somewhere else with open WiFi.

This has been an issue for a while, but as I mainly browse things on desktop when at home, I keep forgetting to post. It has also now persisted thru at least two versions of Android- 11 and 12.

PS: Not sure how to flair this one here.
