Samsung to introduce smaller S22 to compete with iPhone 13

    Galaxy S21 FE full specification

Lifetime iPhone user considering swapping sides, a few concerns I wish to discuss:

    Posted: 18 Sep 2021 07:03 PM PDT

Been with Apple my whole life but very interested in the s21U due to its slew of features. My queries are:

    1. What is customer service like when experiencing issues? I've always loved that I can book a Genius Bar appointment with Apple instantly and chat with someone in person about my options.

    2. Longevity. My iPhone X has been going strong for some time, the sheer amount of Samsung phones released a year makes me slightly uneasy about a commitment to quality (I know nothing of this topic so I may be concerned over nothing here)

    3. Smoothness of use / day to day experience: the Apple experience is one I'm comfortable with, I'm quite tech savvy so I'm open to all the new Samsung technological options but concerned it'll impact the smoothness and ease of use that I've been so used to w Apple.

    4. Security / viruses, Apple have outstanding protection from malware and viruses which I've heard is something I'll need to be more careful with on Samsung's.

    5. Is it worth purchasing an s21 ultra (seems to be the flagship, which I want) or waiting for the 22 as it'll likely be in the close future and I'm happy waiting.

Would love any additional benefits/downsides of the switch overall too! Or if there's a better Samsung for someone who wants as many features as possible.

Thanks all and enjoy your weekends!

Fold 3 battery life is amazing!

    Posted: 19 Sep 2021 02:56 AM PDT

So I have had my Fold 3 for almost a week. And the battery is insane. Much better than my S20 Ultra.

However, I mostly use the outer screen, and only use the inner screen when I need to consuming content or need extra screen space for whatever reason.

The outer display is great for one handed use and perfect for browsing reddit or watching videos on the go.

I am making this post using the outer display and it honestly feels quite normal.

Love the heck out of this phone. Saying so much battery being able to use a smaller screen for smaller tasks.

Is there any options available to use my s21 as a remote?

    Posted: 19 Sep 2021 02:11 AM PDT

I'm staying somewhere with a tv but no remote. There are buttons on the tv but there is very limited control.

I tried using a remote app on my phone when i found put my s21 does not have an ir blaster. Is there something I can buy of amazon that can help me use my phone as a ir blaster.

Has anyone used a nano liquid screen protector? I'm not expecting anything on drop protection but is it any good at preventing scratches?

New bug/turkey after this morning's Galaxy Wearable update: Ambient sound and Active noise cancellation no longer possible with only one earbud on Galaxy Buds Pro

    Posted: 19 Sep 2021 06:21 AM PDT

Edit: It's still possible; the update just disables an accessibility setting "Noise controls with one earbud".

In the Galaxy Wearable app, go to Earbud settings -> Accessibility and enable the "Noise controls with one earbud" option. Thanks to u/Brando224 for the tip!

Issue: It's no longer possible Edit: You must enable the Accessibility setting Noise controls with one earbud" in the Galaxy Wearable app to enable Ambient sound or Active noise cancellation when only one earbud is in after the latest update(s). (Updates occurred for both the Galaxy Wearable app and a firmware update for the Galaxy Buds Pro.)

Why this is problematic: The Galaxy Buds Pro can use either the left or right earbud separately, which can effectively double your available battery life. However, their silicone tips can act like an earplug, deafening that ear significantly. This is the entire purpose for Ambient sound: to undo this effect and allow you to better hear your environment while still keeping one/both earbuds in. If both earbuds must be in for its use, however, this means we must choose between being able to hear our environment or losing half our potential battery life if we choose to only use one earbud at a time. Active noise cancellation doesn't really make sense with only one earbud, but Ambient sound definitely does for some use cases.

Additional notes: Attempts to turn either feature on will result in a brief error message: "Put in both earbuds to turn on Active noise cancelling" or "Put in both earbuds to turn on Ambient sound" If either feature is enabled when both earbuds are in and then one is removed, the feature is immediately disabled again. Both earbuds must be in to enable either the Active noise canceling or Ambient sound features. It's worth mentioning that the ability to enable the Ambient sound feature with only one earbud active worked fine until this morning. (September 19, 2021.) Thus, it's clearly possible from a technical perspective; this capability was only disabled after the update. It also appears to be a design decision rather than a bug (due to the presence of the error messages), though this conflicts with the most recent update (R190XXU0AUI2)'s description which specifically noted '"Ambient sound" available during voice call.' and 'Noise controls with one earbud'. (Note that both of these features already worked with the previous version, and have for months, so it's unclear why they were listed as features of the new software version.) It's possible to set the "Touch and hold" control to toggle on/off these Ambient/noise cancellation settings, but this now only results in a double-beep sound, indicating an error.

One last note for Samsung regarding this issue: One of the most compelling reasons to choose the Galaxy Buds over another earbud offering like the Jabra Elite 75T/85T is the capability to use either earbud individually. (The Jabra Elite allows for use of a single earbud, but this capability is limited to only the right earbud; the left will not operate independently.) If this functionality is no longer possible due to a software design decision, an alternative offering like the Elite 75T is a similar price but offers greater frequency ranges and richer/deeper bass and may appeal more to audiophiles due to that improved sound and slightly longer battery life. The Galaxy Buds Pro are a great offering but removal of this feature significantly alters the value proposition and may make customers think twice.

What you can do: Call Samsung and report the bug. Ask them to create a ticket for the most recent software update. When I called, they specifically stated that more complaints about the issue prioritizes resolution of bugs like this, potentially leading to new updates within days.

Hi, fellow users, what do you think about the S10e in 2021?

    Posted: 19 Sep 2021 06:41 AM PDT

I want to get a new Samsung phone and for 200 euros (my budget) I think is a pretty good deal, but I want to hear some opinions. Btw, I'm in Europe, so it comes with exynos processor. So, is the S10e still worth in 2021 or I should look for something else?

Whats up with Samsung and their security patches on the Fold 3? Still rocking the July release.

Does Samsung just lag when it comes to releasing security patches? Coming from iOS and was curious.

    Bug/glitch in the new flip3

    Posted: 18 Sep 2021 10:27 PM PDT

Hi, i received my flip3 2 days ago after pre ordering for about 3 weeks, it was fun and enjoyable at first but i noticed that there are apps where the text are all over the place and also apps that wont work. In my country, we had to scan this certain qr code before entering any premises and it was totally fine on my last phone but my flip3 just refused to detect the qr code, ive been reinstalling it for multiple times and its still not working. Anyone have the same problem as me? Is there any solution for it?

How much is the Note 20 Ultra's camera module raised?

    Posted: 18 Sep 2021 04:05 PM PDT

I can't find it online anywhere, so if I'm just blind, let me know. Also, if you have it, can you try to measure it? Lol I'm trying to compare it to the Mi 11 Ultra's camera size.

please let user change (increase) how often user needs to enter pin for security reasons

    Posted: 18 Sep 2021 08:12 PM PDT

Users who want there phone a bit more secure should able to increase how often pin will be needed instead of fingerprint if they wish to have more security without giving up fingerprint entirely.

Using fingerprint sometimes has the security advantage of observers not being able to see you enter your pin.

    Smart view

    Posted: 18 Sep 2021 09:53 PM PDT

Why is smart view not picking up my Vizio smart tv? I want to be able to cast my screen onto my tv but it's getting increasingly frustrating not being able to find a solution. My previous phone LG V60 had no issue when it came to this feature. Someone please drop any info you may have, it would be greatly appreciated.

    trade in problems

    Posted: 18 Sep 2021 12:11 PM PDT

Hey folks what should I do ?

I sent in my ZFold2 after taking pictures of it and hand delivering it to FedEx. Just received an email from Samsung that my trade in box was empty!

My trade in box was not empty when I shipped it so how is that possible?

Anyway what do you think I should do next? Try to argue it out w/Samsung, I mean there is no way to prove it one way or another although why would someone send an empty box to a company that already has my CC number? Makes no sense..

    TIA
