| Is this LG Stylo 4 recoverable? Posted: 29 Aug 2021 08:03 PM PDT Hello, Last year I had my LG Stylo 4 restarted and got stuck in fastboot loop. It will only turn on into fastboot and nothing else. If possible, I'd like to recover the data on the phone, but it isn't a requirement. I'd hoped to be able to try my hand at putting something like GrapheneOS on the phone to have as a backup. Before the phone was stuck in the fastboot loop it was unlocked and on a Mint Mobile plan. I have tried ADB and Fastboot on Windows and Linux. On Linux it detects the phone for fastboot, but not adb. No fastboot commands are successful (with and without sudo). Windows does not detect the Android for ADV or Fastboot, and I cannot find good drivers for the phone for Windows. I assume that Linux will be the better option. The phone will not boot into anything other than fastboot, I do not know if Developer Options was enabled on the phone, but I cannot get the phone to boot to enable them if they are not. Phone had a pin set to unlock the screen prior to it being stuck in the fastboot loop. FWIW. Fastboot screen says LOCK STATE is locked, and shows nothing on the Bootloader version. Thoughts? I'm suspecting that some app security/settings/permissions/blacklisting setup may be causing the issue, since i can't access netflix on my chrome browser on the tablet. Or perhaps I may have to physically whitelist netflix's IP addresses as a workaround to resolve this, but I couldn't find out how to do this on the samsung tablet. | Where do failed APK downloaded files go? Posted: 29 Aug 2021 06:06 PM PDT I tried installing an app using an APK but it said "app not installed". The problem is that every time I do that, the file its trying to install is going in the "other" section of storage and I dont know how to delete the leftovers of this failed download. I cannot set up the phone since it's google device locked, but I found a guide online that might work to let me into the phone anyway. the problem is, the device doesn't connect to USB at all, no matter what cable or computer I try. I suspect this is because the phone was charged using an iPad charger, and the charging circuitry went into some protection mode. I think this because at one point, I had a BlackBerry Priv, plugged it into a foreign charger, and it did the exact same thing. the funny thing is though is that both this moto and that blackberry run android 7, so I dont know if that has anything to do with it. | Blocking mobile data for (most) apps Posted: 29 Aug 2021 06:51 PM PDT Hello, I have a pair of new samsung android phones and my carrier plan has some data included. The phones are for my kids and my hope was to restrict app data down to just being able to use Family Link to keep their location services going and other related services. I have tried putting a number of apps that use vpns to block mobile data on but I keep either running into the vpn not stopping certain apps (tiktok and afk arena) or they also block the location in family link. I can't think of what I am missing and I don't quite understand why tiktok and afk arena are getting through the vpn when on the block list. Anyone know what I am doing wrong? Thank you for any help! I didnt dissable any features or change anything so i dont know why this happend. It won't even change "i" into a capital "I" when im typing. From what I can tell, it's still not working, and there's nary mention of the protocol on the web. On my iPhone, it just worked without any kerfuffle. Background: Running a Pixel 4a 5G with CalyxOS. Posted: 29 Aug 2021 05:55 PM PDT Basically, I am going to be setting up a Pixel phone I bought as a server to get unlimited full quality photo backups to the cloud. The only problem I'm running into is that I want to keep the phone plugged in all the time, yet don't want to have the battery swell and expand. Having said that, which would be the best option right now, given that I'm in the UK and can get both phones for about the same price of £399. Priorities:

| Upgraded phone - Keys not registering when I type too fast Posted: 29 Aug 2021 08:07 AM PDT I have moved from a Ulefone armor X7 PRO to a Ulefone armor 8 PRO I didn't have this problem on the older model. As it's a faster phone, doesn't seem it should be a problem. It's not lagging, it's just being selective when I go too quickly. I really dont like having Whatsapp junk on my phone gallery and want to be able to delete things as and when I want without them deleting themselves from whatsapp as well. (I know you can turn off media visibility but I do want some things in my gallery, etc. photos my family/friends share with me, but dont want other junk and want to be able to delete it without it deleting from whatsapp as well) 2 - Is there any way to save individual photos from whatsapp directly to my gallery on samsung, used to have this option on old iPhone but not apparent as of yet on Samsung, having to export to google photos then download which is a bit of a pain. My service provider is T-Mobile, the date on my notification screen is correct, and for some odd reason there's a huge group of photos that are each on different month, day, and years (such as year 53623). I have not made any changes to any settings in a while. What is going on ._. Any advice is appreciated, I'm concerned my phone may be about to keel over and die. Edit: It appears that it lists the date correctly for regular camera photos, but if I save a photo from Snapchat then it has a wonky year. I will chalk it up to the app being weird, but I'll leave this up in case anyone has a similar issue. Will also backup everything [link] [comments]  |
| WhatsApp transfer created hundreds of image folders Posted: 29 Aug 2021 01:54 PM PDT Around a year ago I convinced my wife to ditch her iPhone and get a Pixel 4a. Everything went really smoothly except for with WhatsApp - apparently the app works differently for each OS, so it's not as simple as doing a backup and restoring when switching OSs. I did a bit of research and found a somewhat dodgy-looking app called wazzapmigrator. Reviews suggested that even though it was a bit of a fudge, it would work if you followed the instructions carefully. So, I went ahead with it. It was a massive pain and took ages to get working properly, but I managed to get all her WhatsApp chats and media over. However, rather than all her images and vids being stored in one folder each, they're now spread across hundreds (maybe 1000s) of folders, all called '1' or 'a' or 'q' or similar. Now when she goes to add a pic to a WhatsApp chat she has to scroll through these tonnes of folders before she can get to any other folders beneath the in the list, which is a massive pain. It also looks extremely messy having these hundreds of randomly-named folders all over the place, and I think might even be slowing the phone down when using apps like Google Photos. If I were to copy all these pics across to my laptop and get them out of all the folders so they're in one place, then copy them back across to the parent 'WhatsApp images' folder on her phone, do you think they would show up as they should in older chats, given that they've changed location? Obviously if they don't I would at least have them backed up, but it would be good if I could fix it so it works as we hoped. Thanks for any help. [link] [comments]  |

The problem is that you can only activate this bundle once you've used up 100% of your data, but to activate it an internet connection is required. Sometimes a notification appears to sign in to the network which leads directly to the page to activate the extra bundle, using the same link in Chrome or Firefox does not load the page. So here's the question: Is there a way I can open this page with "Sign in to network" without having to wait for the notification? [link] [comments]  |

OP8T Posted: 29 Aug 2021 09:04 AM PDT Hello, I've recently got OP8T and I was not planning to use Google account on it as I simply don't need it. But since the start I'm having issues with location GPS, the issue is when I'm inside buildings it's not finding location by network/BT etc. eventhough in settings I switched it on. Only GPS outside of buildings works. Another issue is that I do not see maps in different apps like uber or food delivery apps. So I thought the issue might be because of my lack of Google account login, but when I tried to login I get this error "Couldn't sign it - there was a problem communicating with Google servers". So I'm a bit stuck with lack of network localization, lack of maps in apps, and can't login to Google. Any idea how to fix any of those issues? Photos of those issues here: IMG Thanks a lot. | Poco X2/ Redmi K30 is in a bad state Posted: 29 Aug 2021 11:54 AM PDT I have a Poco X2/Redmi K30, and i have been running a custom ROM (Evolution X) on it . When I updated to a newer version of the said ROM , there was a bug in the kernel (custom) and basically the phone won't detect the usb cable when connected and doesn't charge .This "bug" was triggered when I used a power bank to charge it when the power was out , but after I disconnected it from the power bank it didn't charge up when I conncted it to the power brick. As a result my phone died out. So I took it to a nearby service center and they took the battery out and charged it externally and then clean flashed the custom rom and it worked. At that time I didn't realise that the power bank was the issue so due to circumstances I used a power bank a few days later and it died out again.This time the service center couldn't fix the problem and when they returned it , it has the same custom rom running but with the stock recovery installed, usb not recognising at all and left with 20% battery. | Automatic installation of certain apps and games Posted: 29 Aug 2021 10:33 AM PDT I use Poco F1. I faced a spooky issue and wanted to get your opinion. Last night, battery went down below 5% before going to sleep. When I woke up in the morning, the phone was switched off. So I put the phone in charging and switched it on. After sometime, when I checked, I could see certain apps and games were installed in it. Like Temple Run, Subway Surfers, Zebpay, Goibibo, mfine, etc. And they had the blue dot next to them, the one we get for the recently updated but not yet used after the update. I'm sure I didn't install them and no one had access to my phone during this period. And I could not find some of them listed in "Play Store -- Manage apps and device -- Manage -- Installed" also. One or 2 alone were listed there. This was really spooky as I'm using this phone for more than 2 years, till now I hadn't faced any issue like this. Anyone has any idea about this. What should I do? | Battery calibration not working on my moto g6 Posted: 29 Aug 2021 09:53 AM PDT I replaced the battery and now the phone gives me wrong percentage on the battery. It will go down fast and then stay arround 4-3% for atleast 2 hours. What Ive done: Reset Phone/Reflash the Custom rom( and wipe cache); Let the battery deplete, until the phone turns off on its own and then let it charge to 100% while turned off. [link] [comments]  |
