Suggest a laptop under 43k rupees for College. Posted: 03 Aug 2021 04:31 AM PDT I'm joining college this year (Computer Science Engineering), suggest a laptop with relatively good build quality and good ventilation. Which is the best under this price range. Try that laptop is available on either amazon.in or flipkart.com because there are no good laptop shops in my town. [link] [comments] |
Laptop suggestion below 150000 Indian rupees Posted: 03 Aug 2021 03:31 AM PDT I am looking towards the new Lenovo legion 5 pro abd acer predator helio 300. I want 16gb minimum ram needed. 512gb ssd enough. Rtx 3060 preferable. I don't like Reyzen due to problems installing linux but I guess I will use VMs to run linux inside windows. Reyzn 5000 series is fine. Also I will not game most of the time, I will mostly use for productivity and heavy development. Will keep it plugged in always and will run it for 12+ hours daily. Suggest based on the above things. P.s. I like 140watt tdp of rtx 3060 in legion 5 pro. [link] [comments] |
USA under $250 LF cheapest fancy writing machine Posted: 02 Aug 2021 09:05 PM PDT Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. $249.99, USA Are you open to refurbs/used? Yes. Scratch and dent/ugly is fine too. How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? no overheating, crashing, or unreliable battery/charge>>>>>expected performance for budget and purpose for at least 5 years (is this realistic? Idk)>acceptable quality for budget/not made of glass, glue, and paperclips>8 hour battery life/reliable battery/charger would be great but not necessary How important is weight and thinness to you? I just want a laptop under 30 pounds that I can't snap with my hands Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. no, but a wide keyboard would be nice. Wider than 11 inches, for typing Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. No. Google docs, lightweight simple minimalist writing programs, perhaps but not necessarily a more robust word processor for editing. Possible in-browser editing and note taking programs, Grammarly, maybe some browsing for research. If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? No. Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Workable touchpad. No cardboard keyboards. No absolutely hideous unbearable screen quality(not/barely backlighted, fuzzy and unreadable, ugly dark yellow haze) or cracks. Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. No overheating. SSD is great but costly. Hdd terrible (overheating). Loud fans give me flashbacks. Windows 7 preferred if still considered sensible long term in this day and age. The cheaper the better. Let me know about Well known battery/charger/memory replacement nightmares or other common defects and mistakes including things like screen bubbling if you know off the top of your head. Absolutely no thinkpads without a password on the off chance someone tries to track it down. That's just weird. No DIY stuff please. if you have any idea about lifespan and maintenance of the laptop, memory etc let me know. Im techphobic. You can suggest above/below budget, im not buying immediately, just an estimate. Future budget could end up higher or lower. thanks for reading/helping. :) multiple suggestions welcome if you have more than one, please include price range if you know it off the top of your head. Unlikely, but: If you happen to be a writer from a hot climate like me, but one who knows 100% exactly what I need to last me reliably for 5 years and can suggest a certain machine with detailed specs (ram, memory, size, model details and options) and price range, even if it doesn't match my budget, please do, and I might try to save up for it in the future. Or I might find it on sale scratch/dent/busted webcam/used if I'm lucky. If youre that person and know every detail: Does a machine like this exist? What is the typical cost? Lifespan? Issues? Edit: no chromebooks please [link] [comments] |
Budget laptop with mid-range performance for work and light gaming around £800 Posted: 03 Aug 2021 02:56 AM PDT LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE
My current desktop is an i7 3770 with an RX 580 and this is more than enough for my gaming. I need a solid laptop that is portable for work (Office, web, very light things) and some gaming (mentioned above). The laptop I'm considering currently is a ROG Zephyrus G14 from over a year ago (Ryzen 5 4600 with 1650 ti) for £850. Although a Leigon or Omen might give better specs for the same money, I'm looking for decent performance in a small form factor and good build quality. Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Comparing AMD-9400 R5, to an Intel-i5 processor Posted: 03 Aug 2021 02:43 AM PDT For a job, need an Intel-i5 equivalent. It is for emailing, phone calls and live chats, do you think an AMD-9400 can handle it? Will it scrap by for an Intel-i5 equivalent in this scenario? A9-9400* [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Aug 2021 01:06 AM PDT I'm a university incoming freshman trying to get a laptop that will last me 4 years. I prefer lightweight, touch and good battery life. I don't game, but I might need my laptop to run AUTOCAD/ 3d software/ heavy coding in the future (physics major.) Need 16 GB RAM and 512 SSD, and AMD preffered. The ideapad is perfect for me and my wallet, but im concerned about the srgb (only 56%). Do you think that is enough for me? I don't do video/photo editing. [link] [comments] |
Choosing a laptop for my major??? Posted: 03 Aug 2021 12:26 AM PDT Hi subreddit! I have a question. I'm having a hard time deciding what kind of laptop I want to get for school. I'll only be taking online courses, but I will be working with most of Adobe's suite, as well as Maya for 3D animation and modeling. Usually - I always pick MacOS, but I'm having a hard time deciding if that's the right choice for me because of GPU/RAM usage. I need some advice! [link] [comments] |
A drawing / light gaming laptop Posted: 03 Aug 2021 12:13 AM PDT Hi everyone. I am looking for a laptop with touchscreen (compatible with stylus) to draw on, and do some light gaming (Fallout 4, the Sims 4 etc.). Does such machine even exists? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Aug 2021 11:35 PM PDT I've looked through so many of these and ended up with much more confusion and a head pounding incentive to buy more ibuprofen. I'm completely new to buying computers much less a laptop Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: $800-$1200(max) USD Are you open to refurbs/used? yes as long as it's in good condition How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? performance, battery life (at least 6 hours but I'm not too worried about finding outlets) How important is weight and thinness to you? I'm fine with weight and would go for something bulkier if it has good specs Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. nothing lower than 13 but the larger the better Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. I will be doing programming, note taking, and some gaming. A bonus if it can record piano and guitar music well. If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Genshin impact, and minecraft. I already have a gaming computer so I won't be doing any more than this especially between classes. Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? a webcam and bluetooth capabilities are a must. Having a stylus has always been my dream laptop but it's not necessary. Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I would like to have at least 16GB of RAM and SSD at least 256. Something with good cooling is better as long as it isn't horribly loud I can cope with fans. I'm not too worried about top of the line gaming or anything just something with good space, RAM and can last quite a few years. [link] [comments] |

Need a laptop for non tech savvy Dad $400 USD Posted: 02 Aug 2021 10:29 PM PDT I'm looking for a laptop for my dad and all he'll be doing on it is work. I'm thinking a Chromebook would be best for him I'm just not sure which since I don't have any experience with Chromebooks. Budget is $400 USD and lower because I think I should be able to find something that will suit his needs without being super expensive since he won't be using it for much. He'll be using mostly Office 365 on it, maybe some YouTube, and maybe light web browsing, since that's what he already does on his phone, but for nothing else. I'm open to other suggestions for laptops but absolutely NO Acers. [link] [comments] |
MacBook Air M1 vs. Dell Inspiron 14 5410 Posted: 02 Aug 2021 06:32 PM PDT MacBook Air M1 vs. Dell Inspiron 14 Starting a new job shortly in healthcare research and am granted a $700 stipend for a new computer. Primary responsibilities will require several simultaneous applications open, multiple browsers, while over virtual calls. I'd like the machine to perform all of this while in a Google Hangout/Zoom. I'm leaning towards the Dell Inspiron 14 (https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-laptops/new-inspiron-14-laptop/spd/inspiron-14-5410-laptop/nn5410esfus) because the specs appear to be better for the price. i7, 16gb ram, 512gb SSD for $750. Whereas the new M1 MacBook Air is ~$900 for the M1, 8gb ram, 256gb SSD. Is there something that I'm missing that should push me toward the Air, or is the Inspiron the obvious choice for my needs? Looking for a budget laptop for indie games & a little bit of work/data analysis Posted: 02 Aug 2021 05:53 PM PDT Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
Are you open to refurbs/used?
How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
Was recommended here by /r/pcmasterrace and hoping to ask for some advice! I normally use a Mac for work/personal use so I don't really know anything at all about PCs. I was hoping to ask for recommendations/target price range I should be looking for. The potential machine would be a budget/side PC that's mostly be for low end gaming and some work related uses. Ideally I'd like a laptop as I move every 1-2 years and would like to downsize/have limited living space to get around, but I'm open to desktops as well. [link] [comments] |
