| Thinking about switching back to android after one week of iOS Posted: 18 Jul 2021 10:28 AM PDT I got a 12 pro max, partly because of peer pressure from people at work and partly because I wanted to try it out, not gonna lie the marketing got me. My initial impressions were that it was a solid device that was really fluid... but boring as hell. Better widgets and notifications are something they've been touting for a little while now however the widgets aren't something that actually increases productivity and functionality they just look nice I guess, and the notifications, although stacked together now, are still horrible to interact with and do actions with from the notification menu one because of the limited functionality of them and two because of the extremely slow animations which brings me to my next point. Animations on the iphone feel like an absolute gimmick to cover up any slight stutters or lags the phone may run into which I don't understand since they have the most powerful SoC on the market right now I don't know why but everything just feels sluggish and slow to interact with for the sake of eye candy and I just want the option to speed it up. My note 10 feels faster to do stuff on than my brand new iphone. On top of all that, websites and everything else feels like it's loading at a similar speed. Lastly, back button is at the top right of an app??? WHY!!! my thumb is at the bottom I don't want to have to reach all the way across the screen to go back to the previous app, granted they have the bottom swipe gesture but that only works to switch the last two apps back and forth it seems like. No fast charging... wtf and everything in the rest of the ecosystem is so eye watering expensive it blows my mind. I also can't text from my PC anymore like I could with my note 10. Aside from that it's a good phone that is solid and has plenty of power iMessage is nice. but as someone who likes to get to as many things as possible with as few touches as possible for functionality sake, this ain't it. I check it, and there's 0 bytes. But I watched NewPipe download the entire thing. So I tried redownloading, and removing the emoji from the name. It worked afterwards. I'm left with the old file on my system, containing an Asian character in the name where the emoji was. Can't delete it. Wondering where that 300 megs went. [link] [comments]  |

| SD card won't mount after re-starting device Posted: 18 Jul 2021 07:31 PM PDT Last night I was experiencing wi-fi problems so I decided to re-start my tablet, When I re-started my device the SD card refuses to mount, I would press the mount button. after that it would just say "SD Card is safe to remove." I've re started about 8 times now, Still doesn't work. I've tried removing the SD card and turning off the device so I could place it back in once it turned on again. I'm Sure it's not the cards problem, because it gives me the same error when I tried Inserting a Different SD card. The original card I had was 250Gb, while the second one was a 32gb SanDisk Card. I've had Samsung (with Verizon servive) for a year and a half now, and on my old S8 I never had this problem... I switched to an S20fe, and it worked fine for a little bit, but after one of the updates towards the beginning of 2021, I started noticing something. Sometimes when I am in a group chat (usually with Apple devices) the MMS messages will come through late, my messages won't send, and sometimes instead of receiving a normal MMS group chat message, I'll receive texts privately, but instead of the written text, it'll just say 'downloading' with a spinning disk, then after a few minutes the downloading message will disappear and I'll receive the text in the group chat. Also sometimes when I send my message it will take several minutes to send. All of this happens even when I have good connection. Needless to say, this is very irritating. At first, I thought it might be Verizon throttling other texting apps so that I would have to use their app, but this didn't turn out to be the case. I've tried several messaging apps and they all do this. I contacted Verizon to see whether it was a problem with that, and after lots of troubleshooting they told me that it was a problem with android, not Verizon or Samsung. This would check out with the few other people I found with the same/similar problem, as some were using Google phones, and some had other service providers. | LG Stylo 6 root progress, need advice please! Posted: 18 Jul 2021 09:08 PM PDT Okay. So, for the last week or so ive been trying to root my LG Stylo 6. So far, ive been able to boot it into fastboot and recovery but nothing more from there. I have all the drivers, software and files on my Windows 10 machine setup correctly, and i have OEM Unlock and USB Debugging enabled on the phone. I did the adb command to see whether the bootloader could be unlocked or not and the value was one, but when i do "adb reboot bootloader" it just reboots as normal. In fastboot, i can run the "fastboot oem unlock" command but it just gives me an error about something called a "HAL". In the recovery i tried to flash TWRP onto it but it wont mount my SD card for some reason. And if i try to flash magisk from the fastboot commands it says its not allowed on locked devices. | Disabling bluetooth autoconnect for a specific device? Posted: 18 Jul 2021 06:12 PM PDT Hello, I currently have a oneplus 6t with Android 10. I use my bluetooth headphone with my phone and my computer. The headphone is paired to both at the same time but only plays audio from one at any particular point in time. My computer is the primary device I use the headphone with. But whilst i am watching videos/listening to audio on my computer, i occasionally browse my phone and when I encounter something with audio, my headphone pauses whatever is happening on my computer and goes to the phone. Sometimes, i havent even played anything (say I am scrolling reddit and encounter a video but havent full screened it). So i have to manually disconnect my headphone in my phone settings so that my computer audio is not disturbed. The problem is that the next time i turn on my headphone, it auto connects to both devices again and i have the same problem. I dont want to "forget device" because pairing takes like much longer and is quite bothersome and i do use my headphones with my phone but i want the option to disable auto connect for the headphone on my phone. This way, anytime I want to use it for my android phone, I go to bluetooth settings and manually connect. This option is not available in the settings app. Will appreciate input on this topic. | Android voice recognition/voice texting duplicating/repeating words and phrases FIX Posted: 18 Jul 2021 07:50 PM PDT Android voice recognition/voice texting duplicating/repeating words and phrases FIX I found the fix, and theres not a good explanation online for it, so i wanted to put the solution out there so anybody else with the problem can fix it! The issue is you have both samsung voice recognition AND google voice recognition enabled, so when you talk, both are recognizing your voice and typing, hence why it duplicates the words! FIX: *this works on android 10, steps may be slightly different for different versions

| Bluetooth on my phone keeps randomly coming on by itself Posted: 18 Jul 2021 07:35 PM PDT It doesn't matter if I'm walking or driving down the street, or just sitting in my living room. At least five times a day or more, the Bluetooth indicator button on my phone will randomly light up. I've had this phone for a few months now and it hasn't done this up until a few days ago. What could be causing this? Is there a way to prevent it? Or alternatively, can I just leave it on the next time it comes on so I'm not having to constantly fiddle with it? Gift cards can only be redeemed in the country where they are purchased from. Although my main account is set to US and I've never had any such issues in the past (have even spent money from the redeemed cards in the past) i tried using a vpn and clearing play store's data but it didn't help. The headphones that came with the phone crapped last fall, and their replacements will not answer incoming phone calls. They are identical to the originals spec-wise, other that originals plugged into the headphone jack, and the new headphones plug into the charging/USB-C port. I can listen to all other audio as normal, but I just can't use them for phone calls. I have been told there is a simple setting adjustment but, I can't find anywhere. Posted: 18 Jul 2021 02:50 PM PDT I have a new MicroSD card for my tablet, but I'm not able to write/edit/delete any data for it when plugged into my Android tablet because my file-manager app (MixPlorer) won't show the "please grant SD card permission" menu when I try to EG delete a file from it. With my last card the menu popped up automatically in the same app. I've tested it on my cousins identical tablet, using exactly the same app, and the menu appeared. Using a very old app I still had installed (7Zipper) I was able to get the permission menu to popup. But it seems like it only works on a "per-app" basis, so I still can't write/edit/delete anything in MixPlorer. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I have set parental controls in the Android Play app store but it only allows you to restrict the rating down to E-everyone. The problem is that all the apps they are advertised in their games are also rated E, so that does not stop new games being downloaded. How can I just ban all new apps from being downloaded? Why can't I get group text messages (SMS) to work properly? Most of the time they work fine but when the group gets busy all of a sudden my phone starts breaking up the messages into individual threads but not showing me the message. I have to wait 30 minutes to an hour and suddenly my phone will magically fix it (along with playing my SMS notification sound for every message that came in during that time). If I lose internet momentarily the game will lag for some moments, which is totally fine. My issue is, often when this happens, the 4g symbol goes from black to gray. When this happens the game fully disconnects me from the game instead, which can be very annoying. If this didn't happen there would be no issue. My question, is there a setting or app that can make my phone think it still has internet during these momentary spotty connections to avoid this? [link] [comments]  |

Posted: 18 Jul 2021 10:07 AM PDT I think it's stupid to be scared of this, but it's better safe than sorry - it says in the find my device thing when you click it that google play services could do a factory data reset without warning, that's only if you want it to right? Also, I'm trying to uninstall updates from google play services and I keep getting stuff about device administrators so I was wondering if if I reactivate Find My Device then I would be able to uninstall the updates?
