What GPU should i get for 1440p 165hz? Posted: 17 Jul 2021 01:52 AM PDT ^ I am currently thinking about the Rtx 3060 ti but i dont know if its enough Edit: Debating on getting 3070 since everyone is recommending it. [link] [comments]
I’m new to pc gaming and know nothing about computers Posted: 16 Jul 2021 10:06 PM PDT I saw this pc on Facebook for 375$ but I don't know if it's worth the price or not. (I copy and pasted the description below) Threw this PC together with my old parts I'm no longer using. It's a good baseline and all it needs to be a gaming PC is a graphics card. The case is clean looking but it is older so it has some scratches and signs of wear. They're not very noticeable when the pc is running and I did my best to include the marks in the pics. It's also missing two of the back pieces that come out for where the gpu sits, I lost the screws but it will have zero effect on the functionality of the PC. With it I will include an RGB red dragon mouse and a red led keyboard. I also have the monitor in the pics that I'll throw in for an extra 40 but I don't have the mount for it so it would have to be Vesa mounted. The parts in it are as follows, CPU: I5-3570k Cooler: Cooler master Hyper 212 eco RAM: 16gb of ddr3 EVGA ram(2x8) MOBO: Asrock Z75 pro3 PSU: Corsair CX 430M Hard Drive: 1TB WD Black 7200RPM DVD Drive: An asus drive from years ago Case: not sure of the exact model but it's a phantek. GPU reaches 100% usage when launching a game and shuts down my system Posted: 16 Jul 2021 10:08 PM PDT Hi everyone, so recently(about 1 week ago), I was playing Fortnite with my little brother. I was on PC and he was using a PS4. After a few games my system shut down but I didn't think too much of it at the moment as we were due to stop by then anyways.Fast forward to yesterday, starting up Apex Legends and a minute after loading into a game system shuts down again. My first instinct was to make sure all drivers were updated and sure enough, they were. Then, I restarted Apex Legends but this time with task manager and GPU-Z both on. And I realize that as soon as the game starts, the GPU goes from 20% usage to 97-98% usage and my PC shuts down. Lastly, i deleted my GPU drivers from Device Manager and reinstalled them. Still, the same thing happens. At this point, I'm completely stumped and have no clue what to do. It would really help me out a ton if you guys could suggest a few fixes to this problem EDIT: I have a Gigabyte GTX 1650 Super [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Jul 2021 07:53 AM PDT The trick is to buy the Amp Box bundled with a 3060 ti from the zotac store. It is almost always in stock and it is only $120 more than their regular version. The bundle costs $750, though still expensive, you also get an external GPU box and it is still cheaper than scalped GPUs. We don't know when these stock issues will end, but this seems like a good option to me. https://www.zotacstore.com/us/amp-box-with-rtx-3060-ti-twin-edge-oc-lhr-bundle-zt-tb3box61oc-us [link] [comments]
Is the 5800x a worthy upgrade over a 5600x? Posted: 17 Jul 2021 12:53 PM PDT I found an open box, never used 5800x locally on OfferUp for $220. I currently have a 5600x. I mainly game but also do some trading. I want to start streaming as well. Here is a list of my parts. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3K3JLP Would picking up this 5800x be worth it? I'd sell the 5600x and assume I could get at least the same price I'm paying for the 5800x. Thanks!! [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Jul 2021 01:24 AM PDT This would be my first build, I've been working and reading on it for days now and I want your insights on it. My goal is purely gaming and maybe movies, like 90%, 10%. I was aiming toward frames more than picture quality, 1440p is enough with as much frames as I can, with a budget of 1600$-1700$ not including the monitor and the peripherals. Here's my parts (not final);

What are good features to look for in hardware and accessories for a "future proof" build? Posted: 17 Jul 2021 10:05 AM PDT I'm getting the itch to build a new computer after coasting on my current build (aside from a GPU upgrade) since 2013. I really, really like building a tanky computer and using it for as long as possible so with that in mind... I'd love to hear your thoughts on what elements of 2021-era build make for good "future proofing." I ask primarily because I'm a bit rusty on the building side of things and haven't kept up with a lot of the new trends/innovations/etc. but would like to start planning a build with an eye towards purchasing components now that will both have a long life cycle (because they are powerful) and that are positioned to be good for upgrading/tweaking later. For example, I notice in a lot of comments here and in /r/buildapcsales people will say stuff like "Oh don't get that board, the socket it the end of it's lifecycle and on top of that you won't be able to use X/Y/Z technology because the board doesn't support it so next year when X/Y/Z comes out you'll be sad." or whatever. So if you were building today, what "I'm planning for the future" things would you look for? [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Jul 2021 02:24 PM PDT Hi all, I just purchased my new PC and have everything delivered except for the case (NR200) I've put everything together, even triple checked to make sure I made no mistakes but the thing won't turn on. The GPU is seated and has power (etc 3080 turbo by Gigabyte), RAM is in correctly, so are the SSDs etc etc. What could be the problem? [link] [comments]
Got scammed by Mercari Seller for GPU Posted: 17 Jul 2021 03:10 PM PDT So I ordered an rtx 3070 on mercari. Price was $720 and I thought to myself that it's a decent deal. Mercari doesn't pay the seller until the buyer is satisfied with the purchase so I thought it's probably legit. To my surprise I received an iPhone 11 Pro Max Case instead of the gpu.🤦🏻♂️ [link] [comments]
First time building a pc, is this ok? Is there a way to power fans without a psu? Posted: 17 Jul 2021 03:52 PM PDT So, I'm in the market to build a brand new pc. I haven't purchased anything for it yet, but the case I've been eyeing is on sale for almost 40% off. The site I'm buying it from has a 30 day return policy, and I'm afraid if I buy it now I won't have the other parts to put it all together before the end of that 30 day period. Is there a way for me to power on the included case fans without a psu or mobo in order to make sure they're working as intended? It would suck to have a defective fan and to be unable to refund or replace. [link] [comments]
Help with my once-per-decade PC build. Posted: 17 Jul 2021 02:03 PM PDT I have an agreement with my partner to only build a new PC on years that end in 1. No in-between upgrades. I use my PC for gaming and amateur video editing. My Sandy Bridge rig from 2011 has held up strong, but it's time for a new build: Case: Antec 300 (from old rig) My partner also requires that I use my old case, an Antec 300, as it is the "least aesthetically offensive." The case doesn't do well with AIO, and the built-in fans are making strange noises. So I decided to get a Noctua air-cooling setup and replace the TriCool fans with Noctua ones. What do you guys think of the build? A couple of specific questions:

Posted: 17 Jul 2021 11:17 AM PDT Been building PCs for ages but have always used the SATA cables that came with my motherboard. This means I've been annoyed by their stiffness for ages, especially for tight builds. I've just noticed some places sell "round" SATA cables and the like, has anyone had any experience with these? Are there softer/more flexible SATA cables available? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Corsair 4000D- How to setup 5 fans Posted: 17 Jul 2021 11:15 AM PDT I have one static pressure fan (no radiator though) and 4 air flow fans. All 120mm. Should I go with 3 intake or 2 exhaust? Where should i put the static pressure fan as it may not be as effective as the airflow fans? Do I even need to use it? Edit: Its 4000D airflow. Not tempered glass. Help choose a cooler for ryzen 5900x Posted: 17 Jul 2021 02:58 PM PDT Yesterday I placed an order for liquid freezer ii 280mm But after checking the reviews on Amazon, many people complained about missing AM4 screws and sometimes missing parts entirely. Which made me panic and cancel the order, since this is going to be shipped internationally to me, so I don't want to be in this position and end up having to return it. Am just looking for a good aio build either 240 or 280 or even 360 if it's not too expensive (no NZXT). Please help ;( [link] [comments]
